This has given me some encouragement to remove the dashcap and attempt a repair on my recently acquired 72Z. I don't know what I will find when I remove it... If there is one thing I hate is that hairpiece cap! Thanks for the idea!
  2. Though I'll be 58 in 3 days, I feel as wild and ready as when I was 23 when I bought my 1st 240Z. You young turks;. if you want to stay young, screw any thoughts of the One a Day vitamins, yoga , zen and any other medical miracles....... just hold on to that Z......... it will remind you and give you all the pleasure that you will need to feel young.............. even if you end up looking like a prune.....

Most of you Z cabin fever guys that have gotten use to 3 months of climbing the walls waiting for the snow and salt on the roads to disappear know what it's like to count the days when you can take that baby out on the road and have some fun..... Until then, I take comfort and just enjoy starting her up and just watch her purr...... Neighbors I think are starting to question my sanity.. screw them..... 27 days till Spring.........

Check this '73 Z out... While I was looking for a Z 2 months ago, I came across this one NOW on eBay. Back then, Sierra Classics & Imports in Reno was showrooming it for $11k... Was too rich for my blood... Looks like a-ways to go to reach that probably reserve. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-Datsun-240Z-Very-Clean_W0QQitemZ160081147665QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Nice to see a lifeline out there to grab on to. Like I said, I've had the Z only 1 month and only driven it 5 miles. Then the cold and snow and rain hit... Didn't even have time to take pictures . These posts are from the person I bought the Z from in North Carolina. What a tease.. At least I know it's mine and now I can put away that 1:32 Zdie cast my kids got me years ago... Hey, it's the same color!... Oh well I'll play with that while I wait for spring........ I'll say one more thing... In just those 5 miles of driving thru town.. She turned a lot of heads... Yeah I can't wait for warm weather....!

Well, it just snowed last night and all I can do is stare at my well covered Z and count the days till spring. (2 months to go!) I envy you guys with the luxury of enjoying your Z all year long! There is added envy and respect for those of you who have the technical know-how to maintain your car. I've only become a Z-owner again just 1 month ago and though I was fortunate that my car has no problems, just seeing all the posted problems and challenges out there for a 35 year old car creates a little fear factor for the future. I better start boning up on the manuals and learn to do a lot more self service... Doesn't look like I'll have a choise.
  7. It's been 17 years since I watched my last 240 get carted away on a flatbed, engine still strong after 176k mi but rust everywhere. Here is the northeast you have that problem especially when it has to be an everyday car. But now I've been fortunate to get another '72 240Z that I've dreamed about for many years. Got it off the internet, which in itself, was a challenge and stressful. Bought it with only seeing it in pictures and conversations with the owner. Everyone thought I was taking a big risk with not seeing it first but it was over 650 miles away.. Frankly, I was beginning to believe they were right until the carrier came and when I saw it, I knew my luck had come thru... Couldn't be happier. To this day I think it is one of the sexiest, elegant, stylish sports cars ever made. When I first saw it back in 1972, I was hooked; sold my '69 Chevelle 327 and waited 6 months for my color selection to come in... I hope the attachment sample picture I included same thru. Happy Z driving!
