Ca 240: $3500
Emergency (marriage) sale: 1973 coupe, Auto, orange...been repainted but very nice and original color. Second owner, Roundtops, new exhaust, small exhaust leak at front of mani just developed...Seats re-done in leather, some wear but no cracks or tears. PERFECT original dash, clock does not work, full carpet kit inside (over rear towers and all), black interior, black seats, several new interior panels, body straight, the only rust I could find was on the leading edge of the right rear wheelwell--it is not into the interior wheelwell seam or dogleg. All four doglegs look perfect. Rockers rust free, quarter seam clean, Shelby gunmetal grey 4-spoke wheels with aluminum rim, 179,000 miles. Very nice car. Must sell immediately. $3500. I am posting this for the owner and am telling all I know after visiting with the car for about a half hour. Seems to operate well and be very well maintained. Not a perfect car, but a VERY clean example. Please do not e-mail me or reply for any more information. I also have no pictures. Call the owner: Rory....805-234-2115 Car is in San Luis Obispo, CA steve77

Sex or Z?
I posted this knowing full well at some point you would chime in, Bonnie.......If it's such a 'guy' thread, how come it's running so close? Seems more than I expected have their priorities straight. And Bambi's comparison is the best: Easier to spot a good one? Now that 's spot on! steve77

350Z, incorrect name?
There's another perspective without the oppressing negativism. Nissan was trying to get back to where they were with the 240z? They purposely dropped the X to because they knew it confused the casual consumer and irritated the purist. Face it, people: Times change. Attidudes change. Products have to change. steve(not gigantically in love with them, not going to own one, but welcome them into the family and not going to rail at them at every opportunity)77

Look: the skirt and the dashcap are from the same cloth. Just think how many dash caps we could have cut from that tent. steve

Intake mani archives?
Is there a site or archive listing all the intake mani's throughout the years of the L-series? I think there is at least three double carb mani's and maybe 5 or more EFI's. Anyone? steve77

Rear sway bars......
When exactly did rear sway bars begin being installed on 240's? I had thought they started with 260 (74 in USA). These two '72's I have here have me confused. One has nothing in the rear. The other has a rear-oriented sway bar installed AND as I was lurking around underneath noticed the brackets for a front-oriented bar are installed. Just the brackets (you know, the two pieces of metal welded to the frame, one with a slot for the retainer and the other threaded). So here's my questions: A. Why would these (front-oriented) brackets be installed (they look EXACTLY like the ones on a 280)? B. I am assuming both a front-oriented and rear-oriented sway bar would use the same holes in the control arms for end placement. BUT: If a custom sway-bar end rod could be created (and it seems easily possible if opposing deflection is not an issue) could TWO sway bars be installed on a 240? Would the geometry oppose each other? How much fore-to-aft deflection occurs at the sway bar mounting points? If there is a measurable amount of aft-deflection occuring at the rod ends of a rear-mounted end point and a measuable amount of deflection occuring at the ends of a forward-mounted end point, obviously they would fight each other and create an unsurmountable stress point at the rod ends. Kinda thinking out loud.......any thoughts? steve77

Bumperless
Look out, people: I've got a '72 in my garage right now getting ready to go under the knife and get 'McConnell-ized' into another shaved original. Even skinny bumpers have to go. Haven't decided for sure on everything for the front (the rear is a no-brainer), but have been studying Works pix for the past year and may break down and integrate some sort of dam on this one. Going to be really utilitarian and no-frills. Again, some sort of billet grille treatment and thinking about using 1/8 AL plate for the dam with brake vents. Close second is fabbing some custom fibre-glas sweeper. Pictures at 11 steve77

How many Z forums do you participate in?
A. Someone needs to add HYBRIDZ..... B. I belong to all of them, but haven't visited Hybrid or Zdriver in months and months. I will visit ZCAR maybe once a month when REALLY bored just usually just to get a laugh, but generally I just end up shaking my head in bewilderment and thanking my lucky stars there is an intelligent alternative. C. I own a 280, so unless something has changed, they are not accepted for registration on ZHOME. Is that wha you are talking about? Seems they are not 'collectable'. Oh...oops, I forgot, I have two '72 in my garage right now! Guess I better go register them! Yahoo! I'm important now! As an addendum to B. above...I would like to thank all the usual suspects here for making this an incredible club. I eagerly look forward to my twice daily visits and always get a smile or learn something. You are all like fambly to me. (snif snif) steve77

Exaust Port Shape...
The N47 consistently gets a bad rap. I have read several places something to the extent of, "...it is impossible to remove the liners without ending up with an incredibly f'ed-up head...." Now here's someone who has done it--with success. There are a ton of N47 laying around out here that nobody wants because they are "smog heads (with liners)." I would love to hear or read detailed descriptions from someone who has done it.....How far in there are they actually attached? What tools/approach was used to cut them out? steve77

Who are the worst drivers?
Moi? I am not a bad driver! I'm not, I'm not, I'M NOT!!! Drag your butt over here for the Marina AutoX in June and I will show you bad driving! Just remember: Ignore the cone you're on...just focus on the cone three turns in front of you! steve77

needed one or two brake drums
I've never actually read where the cut-off for Aluminum drums is on 240's. All of the 280's I have torn apart have had them. When did 240's get them--I mean, what years? Actually, a 280might be your best bet...The junk yards are full of them and most (if not all) have AL drums. I bought a set of OEM ones for my 77 (Not Nissan)...Don't recall which brand, but cast iron was an option and the AL ones were about twice the price... steve77

'73 with rear sway bar...
This '73 I am thinking about keeping has a rear-orineted sway bar mounted on the rear. Looks like it has been there about 30n years. It also has the brackiets for a front-oriented rear sway bar welded to the frame. They are identical to the brackets on a 280Z--socket on one side and thread on the other that holds a flat peice of metal that holds the bushing in. There is no sway bar installed in the front-oriented position--just the empty brackets. The rear-oriented one is installed on the mustache bar/rear diffy cross member as you see quite a few 240's.... A. Can someone explain this? B. What would be wrong with installing a stock front-oriented sway bar in the brackets provided IN ADDITION to to the existing rear-oriented one? Yes, the ends may very well be in the same location, but this could be modified. steve77

air flow meter
Depends on which 'puter you have...Basically: No. Don't try to get more flow by switching to a turbo AFM. Just 'adjust' (internally) the N/A AFM. A Tubo TB and intake will help, but the AFM is just an adjustment. Search around...you'll see how to adjust... steve77
