  1. Check the air regulator. The electrical plug at the end likes to come unglued. That and Cold start valve... steve77

So I'm just driving down the road, minding my own business, and BAM! there's this fenced lot with a Z in it...and then another and more....How do you find out who owns a piece of property. No names, no signs or nothing... I stood on my lumber rack to get this pic...I counted 8... And there's a couple more over here... steve77

Hey, you think you got problems? Here on the Central Coast of CA we still get 'winter gas' even though the temp never goes below 50 most of the time. It is often 70 or 80 here for good stretches during the 'winter'. This stuff vapourizes at the drop of a hat! Thank God for electric fuel pumps. Just turn the key to 'on' and listen until the bubbles hit the tank (blub-blub-blub-blub) and hit the ignition. steve77
  4. Yeah, I just got new exhaust too--all straight thru and a test pipe. I get the pop-pop-pop-pop on decel too. Not too loud most of the time, but if I come off an offramp and drop it into 3rd, it gets a bit more 'pronounced'. I always thought it was just unused fuel burning in the exhaust system too....nothing too dangerous. I have heard with a straight-thru system you can actually get some flame out the butt at night!!!! I know this is the tail end of the thread and will probably never get answered, but if unused fuel igniting in the exhaust system is 'backfiring', what is ignition through the intake system called? You know, from messed up timing or other things? The old 'flame out the carb. I always thought that was backfiring. That is the truly dangerous kind, right? Another question....The old 'shut off the ignition and turn it back on' backfiring, where is that igniting at? steve77

I am guessing the vast majority on this site are carbies, and probably a fair chunk of you do not have EI...BUT...since this is a very cool site and will soon be THE place for 1st gen's to hang out, I will ask anyhoo... Car runs really really good. Sent it in for a valve adjustment and general systems going-over (there are some things I don't do!) and mech says vacuum advance is not operating. Is this why it won't pull below 3000? So I start checking around...Here's the question: I think this might be a good time to change the whole disty. I don't want to create any problems though. I want something designed for the car. Something that requires NO modification to the factory EFI or EI systems. Something that will operate flawlessly with both the factory setup or a 6A and hot coil. Basically I don't want any bugs. I know there are several available. Any suggestions? Pros or cons? steve77

  8. Are the 'hurricane' wheels in the original pic also known as 'turbine'? GAWD, they are everywhere...I have an extra set, a friend of mine has several sets, down the road there are 8 or 9 parts cars and at least half of them have them... steve77

  11. Somebody make this thing go away! Please! I have done searches and research in vBulletin and phpPortal and can't come up with anything. I have gone over my preferences also. Either it is something totally obvious we are overlooking, or something is messed up somewhere. I even tried inputing ever password I have ever used along with 'Save Password' , and it doesn't say anything about invalid password, it just comes back next time you change pages. If you click 'cancel' it goes away for a little longer. It is making this otherwise great site very unenjoyable. steve77

As requested, we are scheduling our increasingly popular CCZCC Solvang Luncheon earlier this year as to not interfere with the MSA West Coast Nationals and the Solvang Roadster Meet. Solvang is in February this year! Everything is reserved at the New Danish Inn and we have the parking lot reserved again as in past years. Attendance: 2002: 16 2003: 33 2004: ?? The parking lot will be roped off for us and the restaurant is expecting us to begin arriving no later than 10:30AM. Lunch at 11:30. As before, Danish smorgaasborg for a flat rate. The New Danish Inn LOVE this group and are happily welcoming us. I have told them how much we enjoy meeting there. For this event, I need to give the restaurant some idea of how many are attending. Let me know! Early! They love us, let's not do anything to muss that up! WHAT: CCZCC Annual Solvang Luncheon and Smorgaasborg Extravaganza! WHEN: Sunday, February 22, 10:30 til well after lunch WHERE: New Danish Inn, 1547 Mission, Solvang, CA WHY: Because we can say: Har De brug for en tolk. WHO: If you own one. If you owned one. If you own three. If you know someone who owns one. If your girlfriend in college owned one. If you think they are 'cute'. If your dad wants to give you his as your first car. If you ever got 5 people into one. If you ever 'hotboxed' one. If you ever thought the underhood inspection light was 'cool'. If it was the first car you owned that had a filler neck flap. If you ever lost a race to one. If you have ever slept in one. If your wife currently threatens to make you sleep in yours. Anyone, basically. HOW MUCH: $12.50 all inclusive for the smorgaasborg. FYI: The parking lot officially holds 17. We manage to get about double that many Z's into it. If we have anywhere NEAR the growth at this event we have had in past years, you are advised to arrive on time. First come, first parked in the lot!!! It would be kind to RSVP and give me a rough idea of attendance numbers, although it seems no matter how many RSVP or not, we always end up with 20.
