Early Nissan/Datsun history...
Fills in alot of the blanks pre-Bluebird. Seems pretty well rounded. Some of you will know better than me...(There is no direct connection made between Geortz and the Z, though!). Japanese Automotive History steve77

Ever get the urge to 'lose' the Z?
Every month, when GRM comes, I get this strange feeling after reading it. The feeling lies somewhere between comfort and greed...somewhere between being a stylish original and being a faceless contender. It's the urge to move from the Z into something with better support. Do you know what I mean? All those ads...all those products...all that technology...simple bolt-ons...major plug-and-play modifications, out of the box. CARB-registered street-modified parts. Sometimes I get the urge to buy a little 3-series or maybe even a 944 someone hasn't taken very good care of.... Then I see a picture of a Z and it passes. Besides, Datsun people are the coolest! steve77

Bunch of stuff members have donated to raise money for the club... Dash Cap--$25.00....Brand new, never installed. Half style and for 280. E-31 head--$125....I have it off the donor block and can answer SIMPLE visible questions about it if you e-mail me. I am not a machinist nor do I have any reliable history on this head. "Supposedly" very freshly re-valved and seated, but no promises. Will trade for N-42 head. N-47 head--$25 NISSAN-OHC valve cover--$20...Not polished! And the basicaly free stuff.... P-30 lower end with pan and alt&A/C brackets...2 (count'em TWO) N-42 Lower ends, stripped, basically just block, crank, rods and pistons. Come and get them and they are free. - I want one of these!!!!!
How big are these? It says "luxury sedan", but that can mean quite a bit. Are they LS400 big? Or just Maxima big? Or even A4 big? What do they cost? steve77- More for the trivia buffs
1967 Datsun Truck. Doesn't the coil wire wrap around a bit when you turn the wheel? steve77- I want one of these!!!!!
How do I get one in the US? steve77- Not bad....
Wouldn't be too bad if only the steering wheel weren't on the wrong side.... steve77- OK Datsun trivia fans....
Car? Alan, try to let them go a while....! steve77- Did Nissan ever Supercharge?
Turbo's just seem so fragile. It just seems to me anything that is subjected to those kind of temperatures and spins at those rates is just a failure waiting to happen. Maybe I have heard too many horror stories and have not known anyone who has had a long-term, trouble-free turbo experience. I'm not saying Superchargers are the way to go...I'm just snooping around. steve- Pix from Laguna Seca Today...

Nissan Racingcar If you don't already have it (and what die-hard Z fan doesn't??) it will tell yo you need Japanese language. You really don't. Just close the prompt and the pix will come up. there are some unbelievable cars here. There are a bunch of GT cars here and a bunch of silvias and some dimes. steve77- 'Light' interior finishes...
Kindof a stupid question, but what were the other interiors called when offered? The really light one (off white) and the darker, kinda burnt fawn one. What was their official name? (found a 73 with the darker interior for $500!) steve77- Attn: Nissan Race Fans....
On the 'works' car, what is the bar in front of the cowl for? What are the rods on it attached to? And why would there be a shroud over the trumpets? Would something be attached to that for intake purposes? steve77- Attn: Nissan Race Fans....
Found this great gallery... It says the 240ZR is a replica, but the HS is original? Ummm, Alan? steve77- just an idea... watch it not dry yet!
And a red interior? steve77- Any upcoming Z shows in NorCal?
Considering where you live, I would keep an eye on CLUBZ. They purport themselves to be a Z32 club only, but at the Fremont show, they were talking aobut how they welcomed 1st gens. I don't know how far you are comfortable driving South, but you might subscribe to our web site and even if you can't make any of our meets, we usually post all events happening North or South. CCZCC tries to have Northerly and Southerly meets alternating because our membership is so spread out. But the furthest North we usually meet is Morro Bay. Ten or so of us are traveling to Laguna Seca for a historic GT/GTP race. You are welcome to join us. Keep in touch. steve77- Did Nissan ever Supercharge?
Thanks, Alan... While I am not a member of the 'bone-stock religious right wing', I am pro-L-series, pro FI, anti-V-8 and anti-turbo. But the idea of a rock-crusher crossed my mind the other day.....I'm going to do some research too....Imagine building a mechanically FI 3.1 with a little Paxton on the side....... steve77- Did Nissan ever Supercharge?
Just curious if there were ever any dabblings with supercharging by the Nissan folks. Currently, a supercharged version of the truck has been available here in the US for a couple years, but I am not aware of it being offered in any other models. I'm wondering if the factory ever played around with it in the '60's or '70's for competition or in some obscure model. Come in: HS30-H. steve77- Buttonwillow 9/28/02
There is a folder of them on our site...just click the link under my name. steve77 - CCZCC Yard Sale...
