280zx performance?
A little slower, maybe 0-60 in 7.4 or so. A little more turbo lag on the manual cars.

280zx performance?
I would just hold out for a turbo. The automatics are faster, 0-60 in 6.8 or so.

Looked at a 280Z last night
Sounds like you made the right choice!

Looking for a '75-'76 gas tank
Andrew, I saw that one on there but I did some research on this site, and basically read the same thing that Steve said: the '77 and '78 tanks won't fit without alot of modifications. I'm currently bidding on a '76 tank thats on there (the seller is a member here).

Looking for a '75-'76 gas tank
I'm not 100% sure myself....I think it has something to do with the fuel pump for the 280ZXT motor can't be used with the 240Z gas tank. I'll run this past the mechanic tomorrow......surely there has to be a way to somehow make it work. I hope anyway. I'm tired of trying to find one of these things.

Looking for a '75-'76 gas tank
Its basically the last step for my 240Z turbo project. The new motor and transmission and everything are in the car, but since its fuel-injected, I can't use the stock 240Z gas tank. I need a gas tank from a 1975 or 1976 280Z (the 1977 and 1978 tanks are shaped different and won't fit). A 280ZX tank also won't fit. I actually bought one back in February on Ebay. Or so I thought. He had it listed as a '76 280Z tank in the ad. Well, when my mechanic pulled it out to install on the car, he found out its actually a 240Z gas tank, like the one I already have, that won't work. So I have two of them!:stupid: If anyone has a '75 or '76 tank available they want to get rid of.....please let me know. I want it ASAP! The car has been in the shop for six months, and to say I'm anxious to get her back, is an understatement!

Found this on Fox news this A.M.
Its true. I've seen the prices of 280Zs go up quite a bit on Ebay in the last year. Not too many decent ones under $5K anymore. Heck, this one looks like its in a junkyard.....and they're still asking $7K. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-datsun-/260994190085?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3cc4774b05
- Weird.

Here are my Datsuns
They're both very nice!

Found on a Facebook link: '74 260Z $2500
That car would be twice that price around here. At least $4K anyway.

Do people notice you in your classic Z on the road?
My 240Z is in the shop right now getting an engine swap among other things. I was talking to the mechanic today and he said it gets several complements every day and he's had several people offer to buy it. Even when I had my 280ZXT, it got loads of complements. One time I drove it to work, I happened to glance out the window, amd two kids were taking pictures of it with their phones. Like others have mentioned, I live in the Midwest, and there are virtually no Datsuns left, which accounts for alot of the attention, along with their retro good looks.

Do people notice you in your classic Z on the road?
A couple of years ago I was cruising around in my Z and I noticed there was a car cruise going on, heading in the opposite direction. 99% American muscle cars. I thought what the heck, did a quick U-turn, came back and merged right between two muscle cars (they actually let me in!). Anyway, the Z got all kinds of attention from the crowd....I heard one lady shriek "its a Datsun!". Alot of thumbs-up and cheers, somewhat surprising for a muscle car crowd. Maybe they just needed some relief from the never-ending string of Mustangs and Camaros.

Yikes!!! $69k!!!!
Heres a 280Z that sold for over $50K. Highly modified, but still a 280Z nonetheless. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-/220961067675?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item33724e529b

[2011] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
Nothing! Mine's been in the shop for almost 10 weeks! The original motor has either 150,000 or 250,000 miles (probably the latter) and has been acting "tired', so I've decided to go ahead and swap in a turbo motor (and 5-speed transmission). A "friend" of mine said he would do it as he specializes in engine swaps. Well last I heard he hasn't touched it. Every excuse in the book.....the turbo motor was late getting there....his dad died....he's been overwhelmed by work....he's been sick. Driving me crazy! I know I don't drive it much this time of year.....but I want my car back!!

What's in your garage?
My garage has an Italian flair right now.....MV Agusta and Ducati motorcycles plus a Bertone X1/9. My 240Z is at the shop, and I generally keep the WRX in the driveway.

losing my MOJO
Keep the car and enjoy it! If you get bored, buy another project car.

A Car For A Museum or Leno?
I don't think Leno is into Datsuns at all. Seems like the only old Japanese cars he has are Hondas and Mazdas.

Flashback to the mid-'60's
Yeah but the 240Z was so sexy in totally stock form it didn't need any body trim options. Body trim options might ruin the clean look. I like bodykits for the later ZXs but not so much for the S30s. Why tamper with perfection?
