  1. Dude, I can't believe you didn't look at the Dino! I've honestly never even seen one in person.... Anyway, if I buy the X1/9, it would just be a weekend toy like the Z. I could see where they might get annoying as a daily driver.
  2. Its not a Fiat, its a Bertone!
  3. Arne, I actually subscribe to that magazine. Thats what got me interested in the car. Before reading that article, I hardly knew these cars existed. I've owned Italian motorcycles and have thought about getting an Italian car, but can't afford a Ferrari or Lamborghini, so this might be my best bet. The current owner is in his 70s. He was probably late 40s/early 50s when he bought the car. I'm pretty sure its never been abused or driven hard. He said he just used it for casual Summer crusing on the weekends, and the overall condition of the car would confirm this. No signs of abuse that I could detect, and I looked her over real well. For the record, no matter how many cars/bikes I obtain, the Z is going nowhere! It will always have a place in my garage.
  4. OK I recently sold my 280ZX-T and had plans to buy something more practical, probably a pickup truck. But as usual I got sidetracked when going through the classified and stumbled upon this ad for a '84 Bertone X1/9 with only 15,600 miles and a price of $5K. Of course I've always been a Datsun/Nissan guy and know NOTHING about these cars. I did go look at it yesterday.....and its very clean with just a small amount of surface rust. The interior is like a new car. I was pleasantly surprised at the roominess, at 6'2 and over 200 lbs., I was able to easily get comfortable. The car was a hoot to drive, alot quicker than you would think for something with just 75 hp, and extremely nimble....almost go-cart like. Of course it has that Italian "pizzazz". The current owner is in his 70s and is selling it because he is just too old to drive it and because of his bad back. I've did some googling, and have got horror stories on the reliability (lack-of) and rust issues. I've also seen stories of people driving them 100K mies with minimal problems. Anyone on here have any experience with these cars and could give me some advice.....or warnings? Here are a few pics: Any advice is appreciated!
  5. Beautiful! Nice pics!

    Those are good ones.
  7. I almost bought a 260Z a couple years ago, but literally got outbid in the last ten seconds on Ebay. I like all the S30s and would buy any I could get a good deal on.
  8. Regarding that video, if I'm thinking of the same video (hosted by the British guy with the bad teeth), the 260Z barely lost to a 350Z by an eyelash. I love S30s but sorry, no way is that going to happen! Not with equal drivers anyway.....
  9. I agree the market played a role in the changes made to the subsequent Zs. The much-maligned 280ZX was what the market wanted....a softer riding, more luxurious Z, and the sales figures verified it.
  10. The 260Z actually had some significant improvements over the 240Z, including a better interior- they got rid of the ugly quilted vinyl and the fake wood steering wheel. I haven't really noticed 260Z prices being significantly lower than 240Z or 280Z prices though.
  11. Thats very cool! Didn't know they had so many models.
  12. Unfortunately very little lately. I keep buying "project" Zs, while the 240 sits in the corner being neglected. Well that'll change now that I've sold my 280ZX turbo. I plan on giving the 240 alot more attention (now my only Z!), starting with probably a new clutch and finally getting the carbon fiber front bumper installed.

I just replaced the fiel pump on my '83 280ZX-T and its ALOT louder than the previous one that was going bad, especially when idling.
  14. I'm afraid theres not much hope for this one.
  15. You can see the ground on mine through the shifter.

    Great looking car!
  17. I can't bear to watch....
  18. A really warped one. Thats horrendous!
  19. Yeah thats what I should have done. Fortunately won't the negative feedback fall off my record after a year? I think the feedback percentage only goes back for one year if I'm not mistaken.
  20. You can't automatically dismiss a seller who had less than 100% positive feedback because they're might be more to the story. I recently got the only negative feedback I've ever got in my life. I sold my Gibson Flying V electric guitar to a buyer in California and heard nothing from him in 3 days. I finally got an email from him asking for more time to come up with the money (guess I'm old fashioned....I would never even bid on anything unless I had the money readily available). Anyway, I said fine, but after a few more days nothing, so I sent him an email saying please pay ASAP and that I want to move the guitar. A few more days pass and still nothing, so figuring he's no longer interested in the guitar, I relisted the guitar which sold immediately and the guy paid within a couple hours (the usual). Anyway, the original buyer gave me negative feedback saying that I sold "his" guitar from underneath him and I should have called him (long distance) blah blah blah. So remember there are two sides to the story and people that get negative feedback don't always deserve it. Some people are just d-bags who like to hand out negative feedback.
  21. Very nice, clean car! Congrats on the purchase!
  22. I only drive my 240Z about 500 miles a year. I got the 280ZX-T for more of a play toy and part-time daily driver. The 240Z basically gets driven out in the country on weekends in the Spring/ Summer. I seldom drive it in town because of all the idiot, unattentive drivers.:stupid:
  23. You know the Z is a six-cylinder right?
