    Good grief!:stupid:
  2. I agree with the others. You lose a little straight line performance and thats about it. She's worth a look. (I was actually thinking about going to look at an automatic 280ZX tomorrow.)
  3. Wow, you guys get some great deals out west. Those same cars in Illinois would be going for $4-6,000. Both cars look pretty clean, although on the second one, I'd probably lose the large, pink, fuzzy dice.....
  4. Wow. That seems odd that someone could be prosecuted for vehicular manslaughter when they weren't driving. Strange world is right...
  5. Hard to tell without pics. Depends on the severity of the rust. If its just a few spots of surface rust, then no big deal. But if there is a rust on the frame rails or floor pans, this could be a major expense. I would say if the rust is minimal its a good deal. Everything thing else you listed can be easily dealt with.
  6. Welcome to the site and nice purchase! If you're used to working on newer cars, you'll find working on an older Z a breeze. Please post up pics when you get them.
  7. Thats what I was wondering too....but it said the girl was in the front passenger seat also. Surely he wasn't street racing with two people in the passenger seat. I'm guessing it was a 2+2 (which I believe the Z32TT was available in), although hard to tell from that mangled mess.... ON EDIT: I guess the turbo was only available in 2-seat form. So yes these idiots had three people in the front seats...

Wow....four S30s. Thats awesome! And they all look to be in decent condition. I only have two total Zs (and only one S30)...but I'm looking tio get another S30 or a turbo S130. Anyway, good luck on all your projects.

Looks like a good starting point.....car looks solid with little or no rust. Good luck with your project and kudos for saving another classic Z!

Looks like you got a great deal! She looks pretty clean. Anytime you can get a rust-free Z for that type of money, its a good thing. Any mechanical issues you can deal with.
  11. Thats a good question. I put premium in the 350 because its recommended but I put just 87 or 89 in the 240. Haven't noticed any ill effects.
  12. I've seen that ad and I think your description is adequate (I'm on ebay daily looking at Zs). Like you said its a 38 yo car...not going to be perfect. Beautiful car BTW....
  13. Oh man, I hate it when Zs get blown-up/ smashed on TV! I was watching part of Bruce Allmighty the other night, and Jim Carrey wrecked a clean 280Z 2+2. Just one more reason to hate Hollywood!

Nice car! And its the right color! Looks like you got a great deal.

I know! I have the same problem after an extended drive. I really don't think its a '73 thing, I think our carburetors might need some adjusting. Actually, my carbs are the belltops from an earlier '70-'72 Z, so definitely has nothing to do with being a '73.

Nice car! My Z reeks of gas too. Maybe its a '73 thing....
  17. I don't really think of the 240Z as a "supercar" either, or many of those other cars for that matter, except maybe the NS-X. When I think of supercars, I think of limited-production, exotic, super high performance, and usually Italian cars, like Ferraris and Lambos. The Japanese have made alot of great sports cars....but not too many of what I would call "supercars" .
  18. I'm surprised the Z32TT didn't make it. (or is that the R390??)
  19. Wow.....nice video and pics!
  20. Jack, don't feel bad, I have four vehicles with a total seating capacity of 8 (really 7, the Duc is pretty much monoposto). Of course I'm single....the only way I'd ever get away with this.
  21. There are occasionally decent Zs (not driven in Winter) on Chicago craigslist. Have a look!
  22. I like the Boxsters too. I saw a nice red one sitting on a used car lot today....had to talk myself into not stopping and having a look. Already have too many toys.... As far as the Cube goes.....it's just Nissan trying to cash on in the Scion xB market. Personally, its not really my type of vehicle.
  23. I agree that horsepower is kinda overrated. As far as the fun factor goes, handling is more important. Case in point, the funnest car I've ever driven was a stock 116 hp Miata. Those cars are a blast!! (of course the 240 is a close second...). Besides if you really wanna go fast, get a sportbike!

Also the taillights are different. On the 240Z, all of the taillights are in one pod, whereas on the 260Z, the reverse lights were separate. My 240Z was manufactured in 7/73 and has the serial number of HLS-170039. I believe the 260Zs started porduction in August '73.
  25. Car looks great! I wouldn't mind getting a turbo 280ZX (w T-tops) myself. The reason she feels "cool" in it is probably because it sticks out from all the generic blobs out there...
