Poor man's Porche
There was this kid who thought my 280ZX WAS a Porsche. Also I had a former gilrfriend who thought my 350Z was a Porsche (needless to say, she was blonde :stupid:). I personally don't think a 911 can hold the candle to a 240Z. The 944 would come closer....they are great-looking cars. To me it would make more sense if the S30 was referred to as a "poor man's Jaguar" or a "poor man's Ferrari". They look much more like those cars than they do a Porsche IMO (fortunately).

lowering springs
+1 My 280 was riding VERY high, higher than my 240 was, before I got it lowered. Now that its been lowered, with the same springs that my 240 has, it still rides noticeably higher.

lowering springs
My 240 has Tokico springs but its more like a 1.5" drop I believe. Looks awesome and improved handling.

Nice slammed 260Z
Have to admit I kinda like it!

370Z, anybody drive one yet?
+1 My 350Z was a total blast to drive. I agree its most like the S30 in terms of performance and value for the money. I really miss mine!

240Z VS 280Z - value, qualities, etc...
I have one of each, and despite the similiar appearance, they are night and day as far as sitting in and driving. By the time the 280Z came along, Datsun had already started designing the Z to be more of a sport-tourer than a flat-out sports car. This, of course, culminated with the intro of the 280ZX in '79. Like others have touched on, the 240Z is more of a raw sports car whereas the 280Z is designed more for comfort. Of course the 280Z has the advantage of fuel injection. If I had to pick one for a daily driver, I'd probably go for the 280.....and then get a 240 for a weekend toy. Lookswise, they're about the same (my 280Z has had the bumpers removed)....they both get tons of positive attention, especially from teenagers (well, except my dorky niece who likes the Nissan Cube :stupid:).

My first 240z!
Kathy & Rick, you might be right.....looking at the body its hard to tell whether its faded yellow or yellowed white, but the pic of the interior, the floor looks more yellow. Either way, a cool car though.

My first 240z!
Welcome to the site Tiffanie! Nice to see some teenagers have good taste in cars, unlike my niece who likes the Nissan Cube.:stupid:I like that shade of yellow (919 I believe).

new owner of a 10th anniversary and a 79 280zx
There were 3000 10th AE cars manufactured....but not sure how many are left. I've always heard its not a great idea to put a turbo on an older engine....but maybe its a case-by-case thing.

The turbo 280Zx didn't come out until the 1981 model year. Generally I hear its not a great idea to slap on a turbo to an older engine, but you could always swap in an engine from a 280ZX turbo. The reason the 280Zx is looked upon differently than the S30 was they had more of a slant towards luxury/comfort.

Hey
The usual spots would be the frame rails, floor boards, battery tray, etc. I'd definitely request pics of these areas.

Family picture
Nice pic indeed. Alot of people that age seem to appreciate the Datsuns. I'm always getting the thumbs up and complements from the teens in the neighborhood when I drive one of mine.....even the ol ugly primer grey 280. Interestingly, they pretty much ignored my 350Z when I had it.
