  1. Steve I had the same problem with the Appliance centers, I purchased mine form Masseys phone number is 405-239-2010. They are not Appliance centers but ones for Eagle wheels. The problem is that they are 3 1/8 diameter. I think the ones Motor Sport are 3 3/16 diameter and too big. You can see them on my car if you go to my web site (see signature below)and click on Closeup Details and look at the 3rd and 4th image.
  2. I turned 56 in January. I purchased my 1976 280 new in February of that year after looking at a couple of vets. I didn't like the vet because of the way I had to look over the hood bump and the high fenders, so I went with the Z. I traded in my 1972 VW beetle that I purchased new for $1995.00 and sold it for $1550.00 to buy the Z. I drove the car for 4 years as a daily driver until I got a company car. I would drive the car on the weekends and every now and then during the week in the summer months. Around 1986 I had moved and had no room for the car and put it in storage in 1990. At that time I was working for my self as a professional photographer and did not have time for the car, so it sat until spring of 1999. At that time I had to revive the car from the long storage. To get the car back to the way I wanted it I had to do some minor engine work on the injectors, clutch and exhaust system. I also wanted the same dealer installed duel mirrors that I removed in 1986, I found them in Nevada and had them painted the same color as the car in the summer of 1999. I found this site around 2 years ago and now look here every day to learn more about the car. I was able to drive to the ZCCA event last year in Cleveland and was fortunate enough to get 3rd place in street modified first generation. Who would have guessed. I have been one of the fortunate ones to have their first Z and I always will because the car is so addictive. Love the site and all the free info., thanks.
  3. About 25 years ago I had a steering coupling made from a material called Fabreeka, it is a multi layered cloth impregnated with rubber. It works well, the original use is for vibration dampening of heavy equipment. Here is the link. http://www.fabreeka.com/products/fabreeka_pads.htm I might have the extra one I made, I would have to look for it.
  4. There is a guy in Oklahoma that sells centers and lugs his name is Rob Massey phone # 405-239-2010. I got mine from him for my Appliance wheels.
  5. My car was made in 11/75 and is a 76 model, I have the original spare tire and it was a Bridgestone RD-106 Steel, that is what it says on the tire in large letter.
  6. Here is the repo sticker I am making for Manny, it's from the scan on post #13 it's for a 73 with his info. Manny I will be sending it out next week, I hope you like.
  7. Paul try Datsun Spirit Inc. at www.datsunspirit.com they said I could buy the rear deck carpet only when I get around to it.
  8. I am trying to recreate the window stickers, the first one I am working on is listed in post #60 for a 73. Does any one happen to know the exact dimension of the sticker? I have it at 11x14 according to the scan, it seems big to me. thanks,
  9. See post #28, I said I could do it.
  10. FlordiaZ, I have on my car now BF Goodrich 205/70-14's on the original wheels I got with the car. They are about 1/2 taller than stock 195's. I had on the car for 25 years 205/60-14 on front and 215/60-14 on back, I thought they looked to short. Also with different front and rear you can't rotate them. The backs only had 4/32 left and the fronts had 9/32 left. You can see the difference on my car if you look at my gallery listed on my sing. Look in the special images gallery to see the difference. Second picture is the Goodyear and the 5th picture is the Goodrigh tires.
  11. I was wondering if everyone received their score sheets? I have not as of Feb. 13 and how I can get mine.
  12. Steve, you could try the Z Car Registry. http://www.editgrid.com/user/mlwilliams/Z_Car_Registry
  13. If someone can get good scans of the window stickers for the different years I can size them and do the work, I am very proficient with Photoshop.
  14. anyone have one for a 280 sold in Feb. of 1976.
  15. I was wondering the same thing. I like my big fat bumpers to help in staving off the little bumps.
  16. Welcome it's always good to see another green Z around, there are not too many of us.
  17. A couple of things I see, over by the battery there seems to be paint flaking along the edge (see picture). Along the fender by the strut tower I see rust on the edge of the finder (see picture). I copied the pictures and then enhanced them and cut out the areas. I would say that the engine compartment is not from a car with 33k miles and garage kept. Also the windshield wiper blades have been replaced, they are black now and should be silver. Also the 2 holes in the hood are there just very hard to see, if the car was not repainted and was as well kept as the owner says where is the hood ornament.
  18. Are you sure it only has 33K miles. I have a 76 with 48K and my interior is like new, and I know it's original because I am the original owner. A car that was stored that long should have a good if not great interior. My bushings are still in good shape as well. I would look very carefully at the paint to see if it was repainted.
  19. Will, yes my louvers are bigger than the window and the rubber strip by about 1 inch on all 4 sides. I just notices today in this thread that I could have reversed the lower hinges. See picture for the size of the louvers.
  20. You can look at me car (look in by name "click Here"), I have the rear loovers, I have a section called closeups, look about 1/2 way down. I would turn the bottom latch around, I think I mounted mine wrong, but they work.
  21. Kelly the car is not listed on the on line spread sheet created by MikeW. go here http://www.editgrid.com/user/mlwilliams/Z_Car_Registry
  22. Welcome Stan always glad to see another 280. Thanks for adding your car to the Original 280Z owners list.
  23. I am bringing back this thread, I have had 3 additions to the data base of Original Owner 280Z (75 to 78). If you an original owner of a 75 to 78z let me know. Here are the links. Pass the link on to other if you can think of any. To my cars site: http://photographictrends.com/zcar/index.html Straight to the cars listed and info. page: http://michaelgoodweddings.com/datsun/index.html Thanks and I hope to further the growing information on the Z car. Thanks hope to here from more of you.
  24. Look where the door closure is, the type, It look like mine and I have a 280. Also the dash looks like a 280. Looks like 2 pictures are not from the same time period, the car in the garage from 11/01/2007 and the Vin tag from 11/24/08 all the others are from 11/22/08. Why the different picture times.
