  1. Here in rust belt USA (Pittsburgh), I haven't seen any 240, 260 or 280 on many years, I think it's kinda cool not seeing any other cars like mine. I do know of one guy that got one 2 years ago but I have not seen it on the road or at any of the car shows here.
  2. I have a set of aluminum ones that bolt on to the hatch. I have had them on since the summer of 1977. The only problem I have had is that the center rib cracked in the middle. I have not had any problem with the louvers damaging the window because mine have a rubber strip on the center rib. You can see some shots of the louvers on my car at me web site.
  3. I have seen it, the guy did a very nice job, and there are lots of pictures.
  4. Those are the original keys, they match the one I have. My replacement key is a squared off key that was cut at the dealer using the code number on the original key.
  5. When my car was less than 6mo. old (1976) and I was young, I out ran a mustang that wanted to race. This was going through Ohio on interstate 70. I got the speed up to 130 on the speedo, but it was shaking and shimming like it was going to fall apart. I was at that speed on the speedo for about 30 seconds. The mustang could not keep up. I don't think I would try it today, too old, me and the car.
  6. Ricklandia, it looks form the info on Z Car Registers listed below that the car you are talking about with VIN ; HLs30 134739 was built in November of 1972. VIN:HLS30 134607 Production Date:11 / 72 Color Body /Int :Green / Black Orig.Eng.Number:l24 141960 Owner:Jeff Galbraith City/State/Cntry:London Ontario, Canada IZCC Member#: Comments:Full Restored e-mail:jeffgalbraith@home.com Date Registered:23 Feb 00 and VIN:HLS30 137283 Production Date:12/72 Color Body /Int :112 Lime Green & Black Orig.Eng.Number:L24 143973 Owner:Curtis & Marge Daniels City/State/Cntry:Saskatoon, SK - Canada IZCC Member#:4200 Comments: [70K original miles,original paint] e-mail:cdaniels@marchconsulting.com Date Registered:25 June 02
  7. Beautiful car Clayton, not too many Metalic green ones out there.
  8. I don't fit the original class of 70 Z, but I am an original owner of a 76-280 with 48K miles. That is about 1500 miles a year. I usually put about 300 per year on now.
  9. I purchased my car in 1976 with the same mirrors as the 78 black pearl. Mine were dealer installed at the time. You can see them in my web site under closeups. You can tighten the floppyness of them by sliding out the mirror part and tightening the screws that hold a plate on, if that does not work add a piece of duct tape to the little ball inside and then tighten the screws.
  10. If you look at the photos very close you will see on one from the before photos that the front plate says "taxation without representation" I don't know the state. This could be a NE car.
  11. Justin, you can do some really crazy stuff like this. This was done with the curves control (Ctrl+m). I use photoshop every day for me photography. What I did was take a hold of the line and moved it up and down and added new points by clicking on the line and moved them up and down. the more points you make the colors you can create.
  12. I got 4 jack stands and a center arm rest with cup holders. My 8 month old grand daughter gave me Mothers car wax with a note that said "This is to protect and shine the Z car so it's in good shape when I get it."
  13. Michael, I have question about 2 colors. 113 - Green Metalic from the 240Z 302 Green Leaf Metalic form the 260 and 280Z Are they the same color? If any one knows I would appreciate the info. Also my car was repainted in 1983 so the color should be very close to the original 302 green. If you need any new images of that color go to my cars website.
  14. mlaw7, if you go to me web site in my signature (look in details) for my car you can see a set of the mirrors that the Zap had. I had mine put on when I purchased my car in 1976, they were put on by the dealer. My glass mirror did go bad after about 10 years and I replaced mine in 2000, I found them in Arizona through the internet. I would think today they will be very hard to find.
  15. Great info from you both, my car runs great now but you never know. The info is always helpful.
  16. I noticed about 2 mo. ago. Thought it was my computer.
  17. Welcome it's always nice to see another 280 around here.
  18. Congrats on the car and welcome, it's always good to see another 280 in the club.
  19. Carl, if H stands for 2.4L engine why does mine have an H and it's a 76 -280Z
  20. The front grill is painted gold like the back panel.
  21. I finally put together a web page for my car. Hope you all like. Link - http://www.photographictrends.com/zcar/index.html
  22. Did any one else see the commercial on TV with what looked like an orange or red Z (don't know year) setting on blocks and had the interior removed and the wheels. I did not see all the whole commercial, it looked like it was for an insurance company.
  23. The way you show it, it's for a 75 or 76 with out the black funnel part. Here are 2 pictures from my 11/75 build 1976Z, this is stock.
  24. I had my car out every weekend this summer here in Pittsburgh, I did not see a single old Z. I did see a couple 350Z's but they did not seemed to notice at all and most of the other drivers of classic cars don't notice either. It's sad that here there are not many Z or even people that appreciate the car.
  25. Darbji280z are you going to put the car on jack stands? I just put new tires on me car this year after 25 years and was wondering if I should put it on jack stands.
