  1. Mike, Here mine all original from a 11/75 - 1976 280Z. The hood and the air vent are some kind of pot metal with chrome over them. The side 280Z is plastic with chrome over it. Hope this helps.
  2. Here are some of the listings from original samples I have. 24 - Jasksonville, FL to - Hot Springs AK, Charlotte NC, Pittsburgh PA 26 - Newark to - Stanford Conn, Hempstead New York, ?? - Huston to - San Antonio TX 57 - Seattle to St. Louis MO, Denver CO, Garland TX, Witchita KA I would think that IL could come from Newark or Jacksonville or Seattle. to me if the dealer traded for the car it could have come from any where.
  3. I second the RAISED WHITE LETTER TIRES!!
  4. The car is missing the little rubber bumpers for the inspection lids over the battery and wind shield washer reservoir. Just saying its the little things.
  5. Take pictures and post them, I like the 280 bumpers, mine are very good but if i find ones better I will replace them.
  6. Here is the same car that Chuck is talking about on this forum. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/check-out-my-ride/49166-my-1971-240z-garage-find-one-owner-94xxx-miles-rare-east-coast-find.html
  7. Just want to thank Mike for the great work on my really rusty and pitted and painted center caps for my original Appliance wheels. I just received them back today, about 2 months for the work to be done. Great job, here is a picture of after, I did not take a before picture, my bad. Now I have to paint the area around the A with black paint. Thanks again Mike.
  8. If you still have the little 1 1/16 round plugs that go over the bolts on the side rubber piece for the back bumper I will take those.

    240z shift map

I don't know, but the one I got from him looks like it was never used, it did have the glue spots on the back like the pictures in the add listed in #13. When I found mine on eBay I did see two different adds for the same product with the same pictures at the same time, I didn't take notice at that time if was the same guy. Again very curious. I hope El can get a good one, the one I got makes my interior perfect now, and I have been looking for a couple of years. It's the little things you know.

ElCimino, make sure you take a picture of the shift map. Like I said before the one that is listed on eBay in # 13 was the exact same add and item I purchased from the same guy. It is interesting that the guy would have found two under a seat. Just saying.

    240z shift map

According to what El said his is 1 1/16 inches. The green is 1 1/16 inches like the one I purchased and is 1 1/16 inches. Bonzi measured his 73 4 speed at 27mm or 1.095 And 1 1/16 = 1.0625 = 26.987mm < 27mm so it should fit.

The one you are looking at is the one I purchased form Baddoor250 (RUSSELL HIMLEY) the seller on 3/22/2013. Description from my Paypal account " 70-78 DATSUN 240Z 260Z 280Z 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION SHIFT KNOB TOPPER IN GREEN NICE Item # 321088966778" It seem odd that he would have two used ones that he found under the seat. If you can get it it should fit, mine is like new. Good luck.

What size is the hole in the top of your wooden knob now? If it close to and a little over the 1 1/16 then it should fit.

    240z shift map

The green one is for 75, 76 and maybe 4 speed 77. The black with white letters should be for 73. The diameter of the green is 1 1/16 inches.

The maps are very hard to find. I have a 76 and the map is green. I found one on ebay a couple weeks ago. Mine was made of metal. Your is plastic I am pretty sure. Here are some pictures I saves from another thread.
  17. Question what color is the fluid in the clutch master. My master went last year and the fluid was black of very dark. I think the rubber O rings when and the fluid was pushing past them. My tail tail sign was it was getting progressively harder and harder the get in to reverse, then it just failed on day. Don't even fool with it replace both and the rubber line between. Here is the thread I started about mine. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/getting-help-your-z/46980-clutch-goes-floor-not-engaging.html Everything cost about $80.
  18. I used a razor blade to pry up one corner and then pealed it off. The outside of mine had a plastic coating on it and a metallic paper under neath.
  19. Here are mine for a 11/75 - 76 280Z. These numbers are both on the ID plate in the engine bay. HLS30 - 281,114 L28 - 058,848 Diff. of -222,266 Here is one from the Z Car Registry HLS30 - 202,732 L28 - 025,667 Diff. of- 177,065 look like it has a built date of either 4 or 5 of 75. The must have started the L28 from zero. If you do some basic sifering using Chas's numbers and mine Nissan was making about 6,500 per month. So look at the L28-025667 in the 4 or 5th month, they must have started at 00,0001. Just my guess.
  20. Here are some pictures for the original green 4 speed knob. I know it's not the 5 speed but this could help those that want original 4 speed knobs. The picture of my original that came with my car 11/75 - 76 280, a picture of the new (looks never used) insert I purchased on Ebay last week. I also made a drawing from the new one. Hope this helps someone.
  21. I got a First Alert at Pepboys this one First Alert Auto Fire Extinguisher - Amazon.com . It's cheaper at Amazon but I had credit at the store and way, it was $22. It is what they had and it's small. I will probably put it behind the passenger seat or mount it to the front side of the passenger strut tower with a bracket that will bolt under the seat belt cover.
  22. Finished up my clean up of the top of the engine by installing SS hose clamps (old ones were SS worm type installed in 1977) that are as close to original as I could fine (had to change the screw to phillips head from hex). Got to drive the car on Saturday to the store to buy new horns and fire extinguisher for the Z. Installed said horns on Sunday. Car has not been out since October, it snowed on Sunday 4 inches. Tired of snow for this year. Getting itchy to get her out for the summer.
  23. That's my green Z on the front page (lower right corner) of zcarparts dot com it was taken last year at the Vintage Grand Prix race drive through the city here in Pittsburgh.
  24. The ones that Tamo3 listed look like the ones on TheZGang on Facebook. Here. Look down the page 3 or 4 postings.
