  1. Pray tell what did you find?
  2. Stephen could the base plate be bent? If it is not then you could slot the holes to get more movement. Here is a picture of mine that fits perfect.
  3. thanks for the feedback, I picked up a dust cover from Z-parts House for $4.25 each.
  4. Geezer is the dust cover #9 on your picture? If it is do you know where I can get one or the whole ball joint?
  5. I have taken apart the front suspension and where the strut connects to a ball joint is there a dust cover there? On item #9 in the picture. Not the tie rod end area.
  6. Thanks all that is what I needed. I ordered the ones form Ebay for $8.49 with free shipping. Hope they fit.
  7. I have been cleaning up the front suspension on my car and I am missing the dust cover for the tie rod ends. Is there some place I can get just the rubber covers? If there is a difference I have a 76 -280Z. thanks Michael
  8. This is of my 76, looks like a couple of things missing. Not sure if your 77 is the same.
  9. An update on my appraised value and insurance. I agreed on a value of $18,500 with State Farm insurance after information I received from another appraisal. My premium went from $45 / 6 months to $66 / 6 months. The car had a stated value of $7000 before. Thanks to you all again for the information.
  10. I still have my skate board from 1965 with clay wheels. I use to be pulled by a friend in a bike.
  11. That was probably me, although there was a guy from central Pa with a 76 2+2 the same color as mine. Send me your email and I will add you to the list of local people I have. Mine is m.good7@verizon.net

  12. Jodus, I just read your thread and see your are from Pittsburgh, I am in the south hills area. I know of another 4 Z in the area. We have been getting together during the summer a couple of times. We have all met at the Grand Prix last summer. Hope to meet you this summer. Your car looks very sharp.

  13. Thanks Carl, I will look into Hagerty.
  14. Thanks all for your comments, this is what I was looking for. I originally wanted to have a stated value of $15K with State Farm but they said they could not do it with out some kind of appraisal. That's why I got it and I agree with all of you that it is a little low. I don't know if State Farm will let me add the $4K to the appraised value, if they don't I will probably look into Haggerty. I know for sure that there are not many Z's in the Pittsburgh and surrounding area. Even if you find one it's has to be for sale. I don't like to think about the car getting in a car wreck but you always have to be aware of how bad people drive around you they just don't pay attention. It was here that I really started to think I should get more insurance. The one I remember where a car pulled out in front of him and now he is negotiation with the insurance company. I don't what to have to do that. Again thanks, I will let you know what happens.
  15. I have State Farm insurance and they wanted me to get my car appraised for a stated value policy. I contacted a local guy that owns a company called Antique Automobile Evaluation he seems to have a lot of experience. He is a Certified Appraiser by the Certified Appraiser Guild of America and is a member of 4 or 5 car clubs and is a senior master judge for Antique Automobile Club of America. He seemed to know his stuff and was very through I thought. The info packet he sent me has descriptions and pictures of the car. Some of the points listed. Body- Very good to excellent condition with good fit. Fenders - Very good to excellent condition with good fit. Hood - Very good to excellent condition with good fit. Top - Very good to excellent condition with good fit. Wheels - After market in excellent condition. Interior - Very good to excellent condition with good fit. Paint - Very good to excellent original condition. Chrome - Good to very good condition. General Condition - Very good original condition throughout. Comments - This is a very nice example of a well-maintained. rather low-mileage and mostly original 1976 Datsun 280Z. He valued the car for insurance purposes at $11,000. There are a lot of pictures of my car on my web site if you all would like to have a look. I would be interested in hearing from the many experts here as to how close this guy is and your estimates. I am in Pittsburgh, PA if that has any bearing on your estimates. thanks Michael.
  16. Moonshine from the picture in post 4 your car was originally 302 green leaf metallic like my car. Look at the hood latch for the original color. The color seems to be rare, any way I have not seen many in pictures or in person. I have a lot of pictures of my car in original condition, if you need me to get some to you let me know.
  17. Don't know if this helps, from me 76 280Z, my arrow point to the front.
  18. Here are 215 - 60 - 14 (first picture) and 205 - 70 - 14 (second picture) on my stock height 280Z on appliance 6 1/2 or 7 inch appliance wheels. The tires are Goodyear GT radials (first picture) and 205 - 7- 14 (second picture). The wheels I purchased with the car when I purchased it new in 1976. I went with a taller tire to fill the wheel well because my car is stock height and now both front and back are the same size, before the fronts were 205 and the backs were 215.
  19. Hope she has many many more.
  20. Ron and all, I added some pictures from Kats and add a title to me thread and changed the picture.
  21. Hi all, I don't know much about these but I gathered all the info. and pictures and combined them on one sheet with a info. from which post and who. I did circle the holes where I could see them in black or red. I hope this helps, If I am wrong in places let me know I will fix the picture. This is how I interpreted the info. Also great info and discussion.
  22. Carl, my mirrors cast me $25 installed when I purchased the car. I did not get the rear louvers at that time, I put mine on a year or so later.
  23. FastWoman, as far as I know the mirrors were an after market item not made by Nissan and installed by the dealer. They seem to be the same as the ones that were put on the Black Pearl. I have had mine on the car for 35 years, from the beginning. You might have to purchase a used set to get the black rubber pieces. Bonzi, a follow up on the louvers in Pennsylvania, from what I was told by the dealer back in the day, if you had louvers on your car it had to have a passenger side mirror for safety inspection.
  24. Bonzi, I have the mirrors on my car, they were put on by the dealer in 1976 when I purchased the car new, they were originally flat black, they look like the same ones that went on the Black Pearl.
