front flasher/parking light doesnt flash when parking light on
Hi all, you will think I'm a right wally for asking this, but since some idiot wrote off my Silvia, I have been using my zed ('73) as my daily (nightly!) driver. I noticed at roundabouts, when turning right, a disconcerting amount of people weren't slowing down for me, so I checked that my blinkers were all working. Side indicators are all fine & so are the front flasher/parking light combos until I switch the headlights (or just parking lights) on. Is this normal? (I doubt it!). If not, does anyone have any idea on what could be wrong? I am getting stick of sticking my hand out the window to do bikies signals as it is winter here & bloody cold! Any help appreciated, Cheers, Luke PS with regard to the hazard light issue, my zed is a '73 and i'm stuffed if I can find mine - where is the switch? - or maybe mine is too early a 73 which doesn't actually have them (this would be much better for my ego!)

Availability/Price Zed's in OZ?
if you check the submissons page at autotrader, you will see that ALL their ads are siphoned from the state publications like trading post. If you search tradingpost in 'all states', you can avoid the clunky interface of autotrader. trading post accepts wildcards - a good search is in the automotive section, all states, *z datsun. today there were at least 20 240's & 260's for sale. good hunting

Availability/Price Zed's in OZ?
a site you might find useful is www.tradingpost.com.au there are usually at least two 240's a week. search the automotive section (DONT BOTHER WITH www.autotrader.com.au it sucks), all states.

Exhaust
Hey Alfadog, I know what a holden sounds like! - boring!;-) . My zed sounds almost like that until you give it some curry. After about 3000rpm it emits this awsome sound. It has stock headers -(which I would like to replace with HPC coated items). I think the pipes all the way back to the muffler are also stock - about 2 1/4 - 21/2 inches in dia. Then we get to the muffler which is a 'Perry' with one tip. Thankyou Mr Perry! I dont know where you would find one - but it sounds magic! Some of the new 'canon' mufflers we get here for imports would look pretty sound & cool on a zed - if you just want to change the sound & maybe improve performance a little then you should be able to swap the muffler for around $250-500. Make sure you keep the original! good luck! Luke

new member - probably old questions!
Thanks all!, I will keep all that in mind. I will also try to get my hands on a digital camera to show the rust. A friend of mine has said he will be able to patch it but that obviously it would be better to replace it if i can - so i will keep my eyes open! Luke

Hi all, First let me say how glad I am to have found this site. I have just bought my first Z, a silver 240, all original and am really happy that so many people share my awe of this car. My first problem is rust in the front radiator support - the web that encapsulates the radiator and goes between the two front guards. I have two bad patches of rust here - where the overflow comes out & below the radiator. Can this whole piece be replaced or am I better off patching it up? Also, I am in Sydney Australia, i would love any details of cruises & clubs etc and also any aftermarket specialists etc in Sydney Cheers, Luke:D
