Reattaching Headliner?
I have a 6 inch circular area that is loose above the headrest of the passenger side. It is not on an edge. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this? I can use a syringe with needle to inject something like contact cement. But any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jim

Nice new antenna switch made by Dave
Dave: I noticed your handy antenna switch, I not at all good with electical stuff so bear with me. What kind of switch is it. Is it a rocker that you switch up till the antenna extends and then springs to the middle (off) position, then to lower the antenna you rocker it down to cut the power to the blue (trigger) wire on the antenna thus causing it to lower and then the rocker again springs back to the central (off position). I have been looking for correct type of switch. Past posts have confused me. From what I understand a continous new type of antenna needs constant juice to the red wire, a grounded ground wire, and the trigger wire (with power from the radio-constant while the radio is on then the antenna stays up, turning off the radio cuts the power. Other posts said you need a dpdt momentary off switch {a (on)off(on) or a on off on -which I do not know. But it would seem to me that the way to wire this is put in a new switch that simply turns a circuit on to raise the antenna or off to lower it. Again, I am no expert, but earlier posts claim that you can control the height of the antenna extension etc. using fance circuits and switches. It seem to me that would not be possible to freeze the antenna at a set height, in reality the only way to extent the antenna is to give the trigger CONSTANT power, without power it goes down (the red hot wire supplies the power to retract it). I would love to know if I am correct and thus a single pole single throw rocker that has no momentary or central position is what is needed ( an on/off switch). Everyones input is much appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Nice new antenna switch made by Dave
Is this switch for a new antenna (fully automatic?) thus a double pole double throw momentary automatic switch? Could you get me in contact with Dave, I have been trying to find such a switch to work my new antenna. Please send me his email or something. Thanks, Jim

Testing the windshield washer pump - 75 280z
Just replaced mine today. The new pump was slightly longer and ever so slightly fatter than the old pump. I used a small diameter drum sander to sand the inside of the rubber mount so the pump would fit, hooked up the wires to the old plug set from the bad pump and it works fantastic. Of course a purist would note the difference in the outlet orientations of the new pump versus the old, but only a purist would know.

Reproduction tool pouches, tool bin liners & shift boots
Those pouches look great, I wonder if you could get a hot brand made with the company name and they would be absolutely perfect. Jim

Loop pile carpet, any recent purchases? (2008)
I have a 1977 280Z with brown carpet, I would be interested in your luck with dying the carpet, what you use etc. This brown carpet is not a common as the black and I want to get the color right.

Brake Light won't go OFF!
Geezer: I will check this green/yellow out on Saturday (I think I will be shoveling snow for the next couple of days). 2 days ago it was 62 in the morning and in less than 20 hours it was 2, with a wind chill of -15. Lord I love the weather in Missouri, if you don't like the weather today, you will hate it tomorrow! thanks, Jim

Brake Light won't go OFF!
sblake: Yes my master was replaced by the previous owner, and it does have 2 wires that are attached to it, but they are just wrapped up and are not attached to anything. My mechanic could not find anything that they should attach to, this has puzzled me all along. In theory they should go somewhere, but they don't. There is a wire that is attached to the brake warning switch, but I cannot tell from where it originates.

The wonders of a spray can and paint
I am amazed the paint does not crack on the vinyl, it looks absolutely super. What brand or type of paint did you use that is so flexible? Thanks, Jim

Brake Light won't go OFF!
Geezer: Sorry it has taken so long to reply, but we had a fierce cold front come thru, and crawling around an unheated garage is a daunting task. But here is what I found when I followed your tests. 1.Using a test light or multimeter, connect to Bat.(+) and use the other probe to test the switch with the wire disconnected. You should not detect a ground ----I did not detect a ground with my continuity function on my multimeter---- 2. test the Brake Warning LampCheck Relay. The black wire should have a ground, the yellow should have 12V only when the engine is running. ----Here it gets interesting, I tested DC voltage of the yellow wire in the harness and it read 6.8 Volts DC, I tried again and got a 7 Volt read. I thought my meter must be screwed up, but I tested the battery itself and it came in a 12 Volts. I don't know if this has anything to do with my problem, but it is to me an interesting finding!!!! 3. green/yellow stripe wire should have a ground only when the Park Brake is applied or a ground signal is recieved from the Brake Indicator Switch. ----I did only get a ground when the parking brake was applied----- Well, I hope this helps narrow down the problem, but it has me scratching my head. My sincere thanks for all of your help up to this point! Jim

Brake Light won't go OFF!
More info, if I disconnect the relay under the passenger seat the light stays on, and there is wires on the master cylinder, but they are not connected to anything, my mechanic could find nothing that they could connect to, maybe this is the issue? If the wires were connected then that would solve the problem? Does anyone know where they go? Thanks, Jim

Brake Light won't go OFF!
Geezer: Yes, it is the same red light, you mentioned. Thanks, Jim

Brake Light won't go OFF!
Where could I get a relay, are they still available? Thanks, Jim

Brake Light won't go OFF!
I have a 1977 280Z, and it (or I rather) have an unusual problem. The red brake light indicator will not go off. But here is the kicker. When the parking brake is fully engaged the light is very red, release the parking brake and the brightness diminishes quite a bit (but it is still on). Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

The making of reproduction parts.
Will: I thought of something last night that could well make you a fortune!!!! There is one item on every 1977 and 1978 Z that universally broke. I would love to send you one, but I have never seen one. I bought a 1978 in 1979 and it was missing. My son bought a 1977 in 2006 and it was missing, I have been looking for a replacements daily on ebay everyday since and have never seen one --- guess what it is???? the plastic mirror cover that goes on the passenger side sunvisor. If you can find one to reproduce and actually make it, then every 1977 and 1978 Z owner in the world would buy one. But finding one would be the trick. They would have come in different colors too. BUT THIS IS AN ITEM YOU COULD SELL ---- HUGE!!!!! Thanks, Jim
