Synchromesh worn out?
If you hear"no noises",nothing is being hurt. Yes,sir!

Synchromesh worn out?
Like Steve said-match RPMs and don't use the clutch. If you can shift the trans without using the clutch and no "sounds" are heard from the box, your synchros are healthy and your problem lies elsewhere.

Think My ECU is failing? Anyone have one?
Sounds like you (and a few others here)need to have all the joints checked. After thinking about this,it is "POSSIBLE"that a impact had an effect on the joints, but 9 out of 10 times a joint fails it's from age and/or vibration.Check them all with a magnifying glass.Failed joints are obvious if you know what to look for.

Might of Killed a Gremlin
THis is not what's happening. The solder joints have failed.THe pins as you call them are "L" shaped. They go thru the case, make a 90 degree turn and land on the circuit board.the solder joint where they attach to the board is what has failed.Have a electronics guy check the joints in your ECU.

The normal culprits are the solder joints on the tabs that the wiring loom plug fits. They go thru the case and make a 90 degree turn and land on the circuit board.

Rough idle
Jan, the FP i was referring to was while we were watching it. BTW-Z is on jackstands and i found the leak out back.I'll be back tuesday.
-
Rough idle
Not warm enough here for the hot start issue. And there was no loss of FP.

Thermostat temp '77 280z
Mine is working.

Rough idle
He started the car and it had the issue. While we were standing he whacked the throttle a few times and it vanished.

Thermostat temp '77 280z
Another possiblity-in the morning, block off half your radiator and see how it re-acts.In my 620 if the temps are below 50, i have to block off half the radiator to get the temp up to 180(with a 180 stat.)ANd with temps in the 70's it'll stay at 180 or a hair above.ANd when i pull the cardboard out,it'll sit like a rock at 180.

Rough idle
His plugs read textbook perfect. And the problem came & went while we were standing there.

Phoenix / AZ emissions 2011...
Carl & AJ,you are both correct, but "uses" do vary.again by provider. Some are more lenient thatn others. And of course the "lenient one" escapes me at the moment.
