Taking the above advice one step further, measure everything to ensure the cam sits where it "should" in relation to the head surface.Too many shops/POs will cut the head and NOT raise the cam towers back to the proper specs. This MIGHT be part of the reson for the tensioner issue.

    What is "snow"?

You'd need a full cage for openers. A Chevy BB will fit,but i THINK the 385s are a bit wider. Then the trans tunnel will need to be wider to except a Ford trans Then a bullet proof rear-end. and it goes on from there.

It's reasonable. It depends what you're working with.A motor with 250 K is gonna need a lot more than one with 130K or one thats been beat to death. A L-20b stroker is in the $3000 range when all is done. KTM-tell us how you bore a block and then use the old pistons. Bippu-tell the machinist that you want to see the block after it comes out of the hot tank. While you're there, have him run a gauge down the bores and see where you're at.Also have him mic the crank in front of you.Once that is done, there's not much room for fudging.

Slight topic hi-jack............any sources for NOS key blanks?
  7. Sorry,Geezer-the trim molding is appearance only.It has no sealing function.I have a half dozen 620's.All the original gaskets have the trim channel in them. The after market ones don't.This is why i posed the question above. I'm restoring a King Cab and the 1/4 glass gaskets are a $180.00 for the pair available from one source only and they don't have the channels.
  8. Do the repro seals have the channel for the trim piece?

Then why do i,with a 36 year old car, who's tip is flush with the bumper have no issue?
  10. JC,you're missing a "cubic inch".
  11. Z train replied to wa5ngp's post in a topic in Exhaust
This means that you're saying every Z car had this issue.

Everything is new.seals, gaskets etc. Here is the bizarre part-I have a fuel cell where the spare tire should be.Cells are vented to atmosphere.I used to get a raw fuel odor in the car because the vent line just ran down the side of the tank. But since i extended the vent line just below the rear valance, the fuel odor went away.

Tail pipe length is not the answer.Your problem is somewhere else.My tip is flush with the vertical plane of the bumper and wether the windows are up or down,i have no exhaust in the cabin issues.
  14. There are still Zs out here(Az)but everything else is rapidly dis-appearing. Weasel-you are correct about"Gen-Xers".
  15. Wikipedia also says Aruba is in North America.No-one born in the 60's is a"Gen-Xer".
  16. Ahhh, nope.Early HEMI Cudas(pre-70)are virtually non-existant and are not bringing the big bucks unless the car has history.1st gen HEMI Chargers are the least desirable HEMI car(if there is such a thing)going. The Superbird was a 1970 model.Charger Daytona was a 69.1970 was the first year for the Challenger. This is getting semantical as there really wasn't enough time difference to make two schits anyways
  17. Z train replied to Oiluj's post in a topic in Exhaust
The exemption is for TESTING only.NO emissions equiptment may be removed from ANY vehicle. And people ask why i left that Gestapo run state.
  18. Ahhh,Nope. The 510 actually preceded the big $ HEMIs.The 240Z arrived concurrent with the HEMI 'Cudas/Challengers,Birds/Chargers etc. I grew up on all of them. And trust me,i am not a GEN-Xer.
  19. $1000 Max.

  21. Defenseman.Almost made the New Haven Nighthawks back in the day. Puck? What's a puck?Oh,that little black thing.I thought i was here just to hit people.

American Collector Car insurance from N.J..$20,000 agreed value for $300.00 a year.
  23. A smaller bore will INCREASE the pressure to the shoes, thus decreasing the amount of pedal pressure needed.
