Hello, two weeks ago I bought a 5 speed which I was told was a 280z 5 speed but the bell housing is diiferent than the bell housing on my 4 speed(the gear casing and bell housing are one piece ont the 5 speed).They told me that the bell housings were interchangable. Well, today i tried to change them out ,but had no luck it seems the selector rods are a diiferent dia. and will not fit the gear box casing from the 4 speed .What's going on? Do I have the wrong tranny? My friend says it's a truck tranny.Can I still use it?

Yeah , there's not all that much rust .My Z got stolen last year and the under carraige is pretty beat up(dented).Looks like they hit a few speed bumps.Is it worth replacing you think ?

Does anybody know if the engine and tranny need to be removed to replace the floor panel and frame rails?Also what is an average price for this work if I provide the parts?This is on a 71 240z.

Hello, My question today is, what do I need to do to mate an engine with a turbo flywheel 240MM and turbo clutch on my 71z with an 83 5 speed tranny? I know I have to to get the clutch fork,release bearing for the turbo assem.,but what about my slave cylinder? I have a 4 speed right know but will be installing the 83 5 speed.Will the slave cylinder off of my 4 speed work with my 5 speed and turbo clutch assembly?:stupid:

Oh, I do understand that theR200 is stronger and can be upgraded to LSD.But other than that,I mean I've got an L28 with an N47 maxima head and 83 5 speed.will this combo likely break my diff?

Thanks Guys, I'm begining to think it's an R180 with 3.90 gearing.If it is, is there any reason I shouldn't stay with it rather than going through the r200 swap?:cheeky:

OK I thought I knew what I had to do to put an R200 3.90 in my 71Z,but now I'm not so sure.I just bought a Diff. from a guy that also had it installed in a 71Z .He tells me that I don't need to change anything to install it (no mustache bar,half shafts,ect).After taking it home I decided to open the cover to make sure it was a 3.90, which it was ,it was stamped 39.10.Ok,so if it is an R200 how can it fit a 71 Z without changing mustache bar , cross member and half shafts?:cross-eye

Well I just finished lowering my car(71Z) w/ tokico springs and struts,replaced all my bushings w/urethane and put new wheels and tires on it.Now, what I thought would be the easiest thing to do ,bleeding the brakes is giving me a hard time.I've bled them ,till I only get fluid out of the bleed ports but,my pedal still goes to the floor.Is my Master cylinder bad?It's not leaking externally.:dead: :dead:

I think a t- shirts and sweatshirts would be cool.But,for it to work we need to make sure we don't do anything tacky.The logo that we have now is right on. A flared out, racing Z would be cool also.For the decal ,the logo we have now( without the actual car) would be perfect.

I have an extra lever next to my choke(it's not connected).Is this the hand throttle?If it is ,is that some kind of cruise control?

Can I run 225/50 or 40/15's on my 71'Z? Also what rim offset do I need?

I have a 71'240 that I wanted to adjust the valves on .How do I go about doing that, the manual I have doen't have this info.
