Gary: ( Beandip) Just down the road about a block from Brian here in Forest Grove Oregon. I' m 55 have 1 wife, 3 kids, all grown. 1972 Orange 240 all stock except a "couple of things". 1972 240 parts car. Need to get that distributor upgrade in my car. I guess I will see you at the Club dinner on December 9th. A get together would be great. P.S. Brian, slow down a little and you won't get so much attention from our uniformed friends.
  3. My Wife. But she is worth every penny. Fishing and everything that goes with it. Also worth every penny. Gasoline for the Dodge Power Wagon with the Pumped up 440. He does not get driven nearly as much as he used too. Gas for the Z. Premium at $3.35 a gallon. That hurts. Last but not least . The grocery store. I like good food and work very hard to pay for it and all of the above mentioned items.

What coil do you prefer to run with a E12-80 Distributor upgrade? There are alot to choose from. Your opinions would be very helpful. Thanks John
  7. If that is repair work it looks pretty shoddy. I have seen a couple of cars that were done right. I would be afraid as well. Very afraid. Might want to consider replacing that whole thing, both sides. Just my thoughts.

I have an early 1972 parts car and I am attempting to remove the headlight buckets. They are composite, not metal so I am trying to be real careful. I have removed all the bolts that I can see and still no movement. Do I have to remove the headlight itself from behind? Are there fasteners in the backside of the bucket. I am frustrated to say the least.:nervous: Thanks for any help and or advice. John
  9. 1972 240z all stock . Stock 4 speed R200 rear end. The engine is getting tired and using a little oil. However around town and to work 22 MPG. Freeway driving I have got as high as 29 MPG. The faster I drive her up to a point:nervous: 75 to 80 MPH the better mileage I get. I also might add all I put into this car is Premium.:classic:

Does anyone know if a person can buy these factory direct? I want to change my wheels from 14" to 15" or possibly 16". My local tire and wheel dealer said if they could get them from the manufacture they would order them for me. That way I could get my tires and wheels together and would not have to put out all that money at once. Thanks
  13. Some early 1972's had the early glass. My march 1972 has the horizontal glass. My parts car( 1972) a November 1971 production car has the vertical glass. It is your car do as you want. Seems to me a shame to use a Series one hatch. Just my thoughts.

Actually it is not really damaged as it is almost 35 years old and stained a little here and there. Just looks a little rough. You know how white is it shows everything.

I have a two part question, and am looking for some advice and opinions. My 72 has a orange 110 exterior, white interior, with black carpets. I am going to replace the carpet soon with a new carpet kit from MSA. I have seen the kit that covers the wheel wells and shock towers.and am leaning toward putting that particular one in my car. My car is a nice daily driver and the white on the shock towers and wheel wells could be in better condition. So this is my dilemma. A. Would you guys cover the white with the black carpet kit if it was your car? B. How does it attach to the towers and and wheel wells? Glue on or Velcro? If it was put on with velcro I could live with that. I just do not want to devalue my car. I have not seen many white interior cars around. Am I incorrect about this? This is such a good site for advice and opinons I thought I would throw this out and see what some of you Z guys thought.I know it is my car and all but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. John owner of a " Slightly" modified 1972.
  18. This guy does beautiful work. Not only that I have bought several items from him and was extremely happy. You get what you pay for. Truth is these days for a really good OEM radio thats what you are going to pay.

Welcome to the site. Glad to see another Oregonian on the site. Only one thing bothers me. Since you are from Eugene you are not a Duck fan are you?

I have been running 15-40HD Delo in all of my vehicles for years and have had very good results. However they are changing the formulation and it is now sold as 15-40LE. I am told that it will be without one of the additives that is really good for the cylinders and block. There is a limited amount of 15-40 formulations to choose from.My Napa guy says their 15-40 is made by Valvoline? I have run Castrol and Valvoline in the distant past and had good luck with them. I am very particular what I run in my 240, and imagine many of you are as well. When I find something that works well I stick with it. Any of you have any thoughts on a particular type of oil? Happy 4th of July and thanks in advance. John

Put a new steering wheel on my 72 240(Restored original) and in the process the plastic piece that actually holds the horn button broke. It has been cracked for a long time. I looked on the parts list and I believe it is called the insulator-contact cup. Cannot get one OEM, so I am looking for one. Anyone have an extra that they would be willing to sell? Thanks in advance. John
  22. Thankyou Carl and also Jason. Thats what makes this site so great. I will get to work on the problem., John
  23. I had my brakes redone about 6 months ago. Same shop that has always done my brakes. My right front started squealing about a month ago and it was driving me nuts. I had another set of brake pads in the garage so I decided to have them put on. They were a high quality metallic racing pad. I got to tell you it really made the problem much worse. Both sides squeal now. I also notice the rotors develop surface rust overnight. It is parked inside always and the weather has been dry. Is that normal? I am thinking of getting some OEM Datsun pads and trying that. Possibly replacing the rotors as well. I have had this particular car for 5 years and this has never been a problem. Anyone have some thoughts or advice on this? Thanks

Well mine is an Orange car, white interior. born in March 1972 HLS30 74603 Pretty much stock, but there is always tommorrow. Needs some body work and paint but I love it anyway.:classic: Parts car Brown with butterscotch interior Born in November 1971 HLS3053965. Was terminal when we found him. But as we all know some must die so others can live.:hurt: He gave very generously to our parts supply.

My car is a March 1972 creamsicle car. Orange on the outside and entirely white on the inside. I have never seen a car that was originally two different colors. My friend has a July 1972 Blue car and it is entirely white as well. As far as white plastic interior parts, I believe they are hard to come by. I see lots of Black for sale on E-bay never saw any white. I do not know if you can buy them after market, but maybe from Motorsport Auto? I look all the time as a couple of mine could use some help. Just my thoughts.
