Side Protection Molding on early 70's 240's
Mine came with them too, unfortunately riveted on. It is rare to find them without them, as the vast majority had them either port-installed to dealer-installed before they were ever delivered to the first owner. Pain in the butt to fill the holes, but worth it to get the clean-side look, IMO.

Very nice #2 series one
Yes, that is one sweet looking '71. Damn good thing I'm broke right now, or else...

My freshly painted Z....
Driving in Manhattan is a trip. Best to be avoided. The streets alone will kill your car, if the cabbies don't get it first. Anyway, now THAT was worth it. The car looks awesome Bulldog, I like it a *lot*! My car will be done in another week or two, and I'm doing BMW colors too: base color 2007 Titanium Silver, with double 7-inch "cobra" stripes in 2007 Space Gray. Pics will be posted when she's done!

Remember, it's Ex-DAMN-Yankee, and everybody knows where they come from: New York (city).

My freshly painted Z....
Yes you can, and here's how. You just need a little gadget called "Image Resizer," it's one of Microsoft's XP Powertoys and you can DL it here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx The file is on the right in the blue column, can't miss it. When you install it, you just right-click on any photo in your folder and select "resize image," and you can choose small, medium or large. Medium works well here!

Nope, not yet...

Hey hey hey, Billyjarrell--lighten up on the "hideous" there, bucko! Us 2+2 guys actually like how our cars look!

Nother Ebay Beaut...
The S30 is a brick, aerodynamically speaking, especially this one with that huge gaping maw up front. Nope, gonna take a lot more than 550HP to get that puppy up to the Big Deuce. How much I'm not sure, I don't know the exact Cd or frontal area, but drag increases with the square of velocity, and at 200MPH the numbers get very big indeed.

Beauty (and worth) is in the eye of the beholder
That's a nice early 260. I wouldn't feel bad at all about paying $3250 for it. I'd re-carb it, refresh the paint, do new wheels & tires and drive the heck out of that car.

Hey guys...
With all that torque, how do keep the car from twisting around that rat motor! Awesome job man, and I know I'd sure appreciate some of the details of the swap!

Continued progress
This set (sorry for the poorer quality, flash was on the fritz) shows the car with the lower quarters sprayed in color where the body kit will be mounted up. Inner areas and jambs have also been sprayed. The MSA Type II body kit is causing a great deal of grief, with the side skirts in a horribly warped state right out of the box, and the rear bumper cap assembly has some of the rougest, most uneven edges I've seen. There will need to be some significant customization to get this to fit correctly. We decided to split the side skirts at the front fender line (not shown). Since we're using panel bond, we didn't want any flex of the body at that joint to cause cracks down the road. Also, should I ever need to replace the a fender, I won't have to rip out the whole skirt. The rear spoiler looks good on this car, I like it a lot!

74 260z rls30-000023
I doubt the number means much on a '74, but I could be mistaken. It's obviously one of the first '74s built, but again, it's not like it's a 1969 240. I say build it the way you want to drive it.

Continuing Preparation for Paint
This set shows Twice Pipes Mounted up, and most all dents repaired except for the one above the exhaust outlet. The rusted areas around the hatch glass have been replaced with new metal, and after the last dent is done she'll be primed, guide-coated and block-sanded.

Is this Z worth $45,000
Agree with Will. Maybe it's worth it to HIM, but I sincerely doubt that he will see even half of his asking price.

Preliminary pics of ZCON
Dang, I recognize a lot of the cars there! That white 240 behind the ropes in Pic #1 looks like 000016, the first Z sold in the US. With that car and a bunch of the others from Suncoast Z Cars (Tampa) I see, we're representin' well! I'm just pissed I can't be out there!
