I need to get a magnetic set of those door ding bumper guards and put it on the car as a practical joke. Problem is I might get shot before I can pull them off to reveal the humor in it.

I've been using this stuff for crannies.... Rust Encapsulator with extension Good video with this spray. internal frame paint
  3. Funny, I'm actually going to pass on putting in the bypass when the engine goes back in to my car. Super crazy part for hot climate cars (though I'm a big fan of getting more parts availalble).

My shell has 300K miles on it and been painted 4 times. The lines down the sides of the car were vague at best as they had been sanded/dinged multiple times. Kevin Leblanc at Austin Z-Clinic brought them back to life. Lots of hard work went into it. I asked him to make them a bit more pointy than stock... The lines were built up with thick epoxy primer and block sanded (repeat ad nausea). Click the Large View link. Wha-da-ya-think? Large View Large View Also started spraying Lizard skin underneath. Neat stuff. I brush POR'd the all the non-exterior panels so the Lizard Skin went over the POR after scratching it up with a red scouring pad. Large View Large View

I just went with Lizard Skin. Pretty happy with it, but it was expensive. Spraying the interior panels this week! Large View Large View
  6. Zhome has the history. http://zhome.com/History/colors.html I'm partial to the 113 avocado green. Very Japanese 70's... The 907 Racing Green is very dark similar to European greens.
  7. There are some nice ones on classiczcars. Dizeased's lime green Z is very photogenic, but 3K miles away.

Capital Z of Texas in Austin http://www.czot.org Live in Austin, been working in Dallas. Might need to attend some Dallas area events. My 240Z is in full retard restore mode right now, so can't bring it..

Nice! Now get some good paint on it. POR-15 or similar and it should be sealed for a life time.
  10. Took me a while to decipher your post as I didn't know the terminology. This helped me figure it out.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LS_engine. Cool project!

I agree, pull up the tar mat so the repair can get what you see now in the battery tray area and anything you don't see yet. Pull the seats out and chip out the floor tar. About a 5 hour job with a good scaper. FYI. This is what these cars look like nakid... Yours is a bit different since its a 280, but basically the same. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=33702&ppuser=14083 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=33700&ppuser=14083

Battery acid got between the firewall and the right engine compartment weld up point. Very common rust spot. Lots of examples in the photo section of how to do this from squared out sheet metal to full on transplants. Search "battery tray" in the photo section. To fix yours, I'd get some of the firewall metal and some of the battery tray metal cut out and repaired, not just the firewall... http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=33213 Right side drive... http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=27308 Here is mine, I was lucky, surface rust... http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=32234 My favorite is Diseazed' transplant of the left side of the engine compartment. Probably not what you are looking for...
  13. Here is my dyno pull from 5 years ago for comparison... Bone stock L24, cam, SUs, exhaust, with E31 head with aftermarket Mallory Unilite ignition. I did this just for giggles. In order by horse power lowest to most, there was my 105 horse chart and the next CZOT club member up pulled a 185 (I think) with a stroker motor in a 240 all the way up to a >600HP pull from a 300ZX. You have a monster setup in the works! http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=24994&ppuser=14083
  14. Some other ideas. Check the barrel mesh filters that are installed before each float bowl. Also check the fuel filter and clogged fuel lines. I had a clogged mesh filter that caused the car to top out RPM wise once. I didn't know those filters were even there before it happened. Another thing to check is the restriction orifice in the fuel return line. If someone opened it up, that can cause a drop in fuel pressure. If I had to guess though, fuel pump.

    All Natural Ingredients... Same story.
  16. How did you clean up/paint that tranny? Sure looks good. I'm got mine on the floor right now and thinking I'd like it to look like yours.... Looks like you are sill running the 4 speed...

I have 3 heads, 2 E88's and a E31. I bought the E31 off the internet Z car club list and it was probably the first internet purchase I ever did (early 90's). I had it redone and sitting up in the attic for years when I developed a bad valve guide oil leak. I popped in the E31 and was very impressed at the time I did the swap. The E88 I was running may have had more issues than the oil leak (valve leak, cam lobes, rocker adjustment, etc) making the comparison invalid. It is still one of my favorite Z projects I ever did because I pulled the engine apart, ate dinner, and fired the motor back up before 11:00pm!
