I bought door panels off ebay just to get the hardboards and covered them with vinyl from datsunrestore. If I were to do it again, I would have put a thin bit of sheet metal underneath the the holes to reinforce the metal clip areas. The black vinyl I took off was in okay shape for the stuff I've seen for 240Z's if anyone needs just the vinyl.
  2. As a data point, my Z has very high miles. To get rid of my clunks, had to replace 4 out of 6 UJoints, all 4 of the stub axle bearings, differential mount, transmission mount, and the mustache bar bushings. Plus I had a chattering clutch. It was so multi symptomatic that I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on until I started replacing each part. Every repair made things better. Finally, very very smooth power.
  3. Okay, this is getting weirder. I can't figure how longer springs in front lower the nose.

With relays, you can do both, just put them in parallel. I did it that way on my '72 when it had Air Conditioning. If the engine was hot, the fan came on. If I kicked in the AC, the fan came on. For temp, you can mount one of these temperature sensor/switches underneath your top radiator hose. http://www.perma-cool.com/Catalog/Cat_page19.html I had a power relay as well so it only came on only when the ignition was on.

  6. I bought this in a garage sale way back when, Nissan stock springs part number 55020-E4102. Lots of pics in my gallary. I was talking with Carl and he thought the measurements would be of interest. I made the measurements pretty quickly. Wire diameter - between 0.451 and 0.457 inches depending on where I measure it. This is coated, so probably less than 11.5 mm underneath the coatings Spring diameter (outside edge to edge) - around 4.441 inches. Unsprung height - 14 3/4 inches. Coil count - I'd say about 10.6 coils...
  7. Got a new set of Eibach springs for my '72 Big image here --> http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/box-of-eibachs.jpg No instructions came with the springs. I assume the middle ones go in the back and the springs are oriented top/bottom correctly in the photo since the Eibach logo is right side up. Funny thing, it looks like the springs are upside down compared with Zs-ondabrain's install from a few years back. Big image here --> http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/front_right_strut_assembly_2.JPG Notice how the tight coils are on the top of my set and the bottom of Zs-ondabrain's set? Weird.

When you are done, disassemble the master/slave and post some photos of the hydraulic pistons and the insides of the cylinders. I'm curious if the green/brown fluid is indicative of anything.
  9. Are you running a modified block and head or stock on your L26? If stock, regular SU's work fantastic.

Doing some googling about DOT5. You think this conversion process is overkill? http://www.type2.com/library/brakes/dot5.htm
  11. Someone added the loop. The bag on the right side of the transmission tunnel, where usually you see a bunch of wires, is that the wire harness cover? That is original?? Wow. The replacement vinyl that you could buy, until recently, was was missing the diamond pattern. I just bought some "butterscotch" replacement vinyl that has the diamond pattern.
