225/50/15?
It does depend on your offset doesnt it... it would help to know what hes got on there, but as far as Datsun turbo 15" rims go 225-50 works fine with no problems, used them for years on many different Z's:sick:

what coil to get
Ive used them all.. it really doesnt make much difference between aftermarket hi-perf coils. There is a slight difference between stock and aftermarket though.. you'll notice it starts easier and runs a little smoother. Fuel mileage is supposed to go up, but hell if I can tell, damn lead foot! On the old Z's like that, I generally just use an Accel yellow coil. Ive never had any bad luck with them and they just work. Something about using American parts (Mallory-MSD) on a Japanese car too...hmmm blasphomy? I dunno... either way best of luck, let us know what you use and how you like it.

Come on now, you know Texans dont drink!!!!!!!

Entering the Z ranks
Thats giving me fits, trying to find the flares I want for my turbo Im working on now.. Ive used all 3 kinds from Motorsport in the past on other Z's, the mid sized flares (fiberglass) look the best to my eye.... I dont think its a bad looking Z at all... Id round the flares down flush on the bottom, or, barring that, look into a rear valance and get down with the fiberglass to mold the 2 into an acceptable look. Overall, I think cutting the flares down and making them flush would be the best way to go. Are'nt ya happy though???!! You've got a Z now!!! Congrats on that--wahooooo!!!!!!!I look forward to seeing future pics of it and seeing where you with it....no matter what, your gonna have a blast!!!!

Atmospheric Supercharging???
I dont like them either....but at the price Im paying v.s. what Im going to turn it around and sell it for, well how could I pass up ?? To me , they look long, snail like in appearance.. I have never liked them but lots of mid-age people around here like them for some reason or another, maybe cuz kids can fit in the back so the wife is happy--I dunno Either way, this cars financing my T-06 to TD03-04 hybrid swap:tapemouth

3.1 diesel crank
Im onboard with everyone else in here--I will note that the diesel crank weights about 5 tons more than the stock L28 and requires lightening and all that fun stuff before its even worth using in a turbo motor...if you did use it, you'd have a torquier car but the rev limits would ultimately be lower and this and that. blah blah blah---Id go with more boost, cooler air, more fuel and better spark timing to make life fun than d*** around with a smelly old diesel crank.:tapemouth

New disty for '77...
Here goes the new guy arguing but...lmao j/k so the advance isnt working, the problem is, it could be stuck in either direction, so its not fair to say what rpm range it would impact, but either which way, no advance would blow!!! Id just rebuild the stock unit and go on..its super simple, usually a matter of just changing out the diaphragm unit, takes no time at all. I doubt its "stuck" per say, probably just old diaphragm (damn that words hard to spell-hmm) thats blown out, or lost resilency

L28 NA vs. Turbo Intake Manifold
The N/A has longer intake runners and is better suited for a lower rpm range (torque)...it runs out of steam flow wise around 5500 rpm.....it also has the boss for a cold start injector, so if your using stock EFI on a 280 n/a its easier swap But..the Turbo manifold has shorter runners and does work better with a turbocharger thats being modified...if your running a rising rate FPR and stock boost there wont be much difference other that a tad more torque in mid range if you use a n/a manifold. If your planning on building the motor and turbo a bit, use the turbo manifold. Block off the EGR, remove the pop off valve etc.. the turbo manifold delivers better performance if your going to do it right. Kinda depends on what your wanting to do...either way you decide, been there done it, let me kow--I'll help ya get where ya want to be power wise

Are 2+2's Ugly Or Not??

Are 2+2's Ugly Or Not??
Put me down as first to say they are.. Im buying this one just to play with and turn around and sell to finance more goodies for one of the coupes in my garage...gotta love Australians and their callous sense of humor--"humour" to you guys right??--haha Was'nt Australia a giant prison , where felons and common criminals were banished to, as punishment? Make mine good 'ol USA and you can have your Mad Max beyond Thunderdome. 2+2's all the way baby!!! Does that make me a bloke for saying that??---or a wanker?? Whatever, toss another whatever ya eat on the barbie mate..lmao!!!

HAHA!! Yet another crusty Datsun comes into my life!
Of course its irrational...haha I really dig the comments about it being an agricultural project, I wonder if I could earn a few hours credit from school for using a car as a mobile crop field..maybe plant some corn on it?? After long and hard deliberation, an older (and hopefully wiser) Z friend of mine talked me into towing it home on a U Haul car hauler.Sigh..I gave in...haha, but hey, beats pushing a 4 zillion pound 2+2 home in the dark!! As for the comments on the 2+2 poll--put me down as being the first to say I hate the way the look--In my opinion they look like snails with the extra roofline and with the extra weight and length---it probably is a snail! They way I see it though..at the minimum, I paid 300 bucks for a car thats all original, straight with 48k miles (verified as of today thru DPS records)..so no matter if it runs or not, I'll make my money on it--thats not the point though--it will be fun to bring another Z back to life after sitting forever. If you cant remember the fun in bringing an old car back to life again then why the hell are you even driving a Z car to begin with?? Either way 2+2's are ugly, I agree, but this is more of a fun project for me.. so either way it goes, its still gonna give me yet another Datsun to tinker with in the garage, while me and my friends drink beer and remember why we got into these cars in the first place--cuz' they're just plain fun to play with, extra 2 seats or not. I pick it up this week --will let you know it goes... Michael

HAHA!! Yet another crusty Datsun comes into my life!
This is gonna be cool... Well, here I go again it seems...anyone ever seen "The Blues Brothers" where they're on a mission from God? Well, Im on a mission from the Z Gods...haha... I have located a repulsively crusty '76 2+2 in all its metallic green and mold colored glory sitting in the dirt driveway of a truckers trailer home. Oh man, this is gonna be great. Another money pit--I dont know why Im so excited here!!! Its been sitting for 10 years, accumulated enough filth on it to grow a garden, yet its all original minus the basket wire wheels and dry rotted tires. Every last emblem, interior, motor piece you name it...still there. Oh boy, oh boy! Ive been assured that when they parked it 10 years ago it ran and drove fine...( I love when they say that..makes me laugh) So back to my mission from the Z gods..heres the plan. Its no fun just towing a Datsun home, nope, too simple...it must be driven home! I have talked (suckered) a friend into driving me 3 hours to where its at in my official Z rescuer mobile equipped with everything needed to let the Z come home under its own power. Im bringing a spare gas tank, 4 new tires (have them mounted locally) plenty of WD-40, lubes, coolant etc.. Im arriving bright and early, soaking the cylinder walls with WD-40, mounting the new tires, checking brakes, changing all the fluids, checking out what kinda funk may be lurking in the tank (cross fingers for me), going through the electric's etc..The ideal setting will have the Z running and driving with enough time to wash it and make it presentable enough to drive. The off we go for a 3 hour trip in the dark back to Ft Worth. Sound crazy?? Thats whats gonna make it fun... I'll be posting before pics and after pics, its gonna be a riot hearing what I am probably going to have to go through to do this..heh I cant wait, Im excited!! All this over a 300 dollar 2+2.... sigh.....BTW, theres no rust on the thing, no dents and no leaks in the interior. Im amazed. Under the dirt and funk lies a really decent Z car....wish me luck!!!!!!!:tapemouth
