aftermarket ac delco parking brake cable question
I didn't want to spend several hundred dollars on a parking brake cable either so I bought on from Rock Auto. They had two that allegedly fits a '76 which I bought a couple of weeks ago... RAYBESTOS Part # BC92952 74 1/4" Overall Length $56.79 NISSAN 280Z (1975 - 1978) NISSAN 280Z 2+2 (1975 - 1978) NISSAN 280ZX (1979 - 1980) NISSAN 280ZX 2+2 (1979 - 1980) WAGNER Part # BC122537 Part {#F122537} $78.79 NISSAN 280Z (1975 - 1977) NISSAN 280Z 2+2 (1975 - 1977) I bought the Raybestos cable which didn't come with all the pieces displayed in the picture. (circled in blue) The clevis pins, cotter pins, one of the hangers and the end piece that connects to the brake lever. I reused the existing clevis pins with new cotter pins and had to modify the end pieces on the existing cable to work with this one. I'm disappointed that parts were missing but so far so good on functionality.

Battery Brain - tried it?
I appreciate the response. Yeah, it does sound a little gimmicky. I was thinking that it is almost inevitable that the lights get left on. Of course I could install a buzzer/chime for that and for fewer $$$. I was also thinking that the remote for the battery cutoff might delay a thief for a few extra minutes which might be enough to catch said thief and attempt to persuade him, by any means necessary not to go around stealing other peoples hard earned belongings... Anything within reason to thwart someone stealing my beloved Z. Kill switch goes in next.

fan motor swap - civic to 240z
And I just had my eyes checked... I noticed from a pic on eBay that what looked to be a "-" sign above the "+" sign on the civic fan motor jack seems to be a rotation indicator.

fan motor swap - civic to 240z
I've searched for the answer to this question and will continue to search but in case someone wants to help... here's the question. I have the civic fan installed. Now it's time to connect the wires. The civic wiring has a plug with two wires, blue with a black stripe and blue with a white stripe. Which one should I splice to the red 240Z fan motor wire and which one should I splice into the black 240Z fan motor wire? Looking at the civic fan plug, there are two + indicators at the plug which is confusing. The connectors are flat and at a right angle to one another. I would think that the civic blue/black would connect to the black or negative 240Z wire and the civic blue/white would connect to the red or positive 240Z wire. Just want to make sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Response from Phil... No it doesn't have the original matching engine as you can see in the photos I attached.- 260 found, what's it worth?
I can't really answer your question. One man's trash is another man's treasure, so to speak. I'm sure there will be others who can better speak to it's worth. You might find an idea of what it's value in a general sense though at http://www.nada.com/. I have an early 260Z that I really like. I've been driving it almost daily since I bought it several months ago. I'll switch over to driving my '73 as soon as she's on the road again because the 260 is all stock and the 240 now has a ZX L28, a 5 speed, new struts/springs and bushings so it should be more fun. I'm not so much concerned about the 260's value or collectibility. I just like it. FWIW, I saw a 260 2+2 the other day and personally thought that the longer body made it ugly but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.- Craigslist Ad: 280Z, 260Z, 240Z Body, Automotive, Interior and Detail Parts (santa ro

Fenders, doors w/ and w/out glass, hoods, hatchbacks w/ and w/out glass, lights, wiring harnesses, drive trains, exhaust systems, engines, carburetors, brakes, electrical stuff, fuel stuff, body stuff, chrome roof racks, chrome Z logos and trim...I think you get the idea! If you are into Z cars, this is your lucky day! I may have just the part you were looking for. I have been defending these parts from looters, rooters, and plain old thieves for quite a while, so I am interested in getting this stuff sold, but I am NOT interested in fielding 400 calls from people who won't show up or are just trying to find out where the parts are so they can steal them. So if you are serious, email me with your contact info, and any parts your are especially interested in, and I will get back to you ASAP! Thanks!- Bad eBay Experience w/ Door Panels
"Stuff" is too kind a word as far as the other bits and pieces besides the air cleaner are concerned - IMHO. I believe that a non-emissions air cleaner in good condition would be worth $150 but again, that is just my opinion.- Bad eBay Experience w/ Door Panels
I'm very happy to hear that things turned out in your favor. I recently saw an eBay ad for a parts lot that included a non-emissions air cleaner. First the disclaimer: I have nothing negative to say about the seller or eBay. With that said... I didn't feel the picture of the air cleaner was good enough for me to bid more than $20~$40 so I asked for more information and better pics. 1st Message: Do you have more pics of the air cleaner? Both sides, close-up? Is there any rust on it? Thanks Response to 1st Message: No rust, but there is a small dent on the top. 2nd Message: Please provide better pictures of the air cleaner. Thank you Response to 2nd Message: Sorry, I will not have time before the auction ends. As I mentioned there is one small dent on the top edge on the cleaner. By then the bidding was closing in on $100. There was no way I was going to bid that much without close-ups of the air cleaner. I probably wouldn't have bid that much because of the dent. I didn't care about any of the other pieces. Someone apparently did because the lot sold for $158.16. I hope the buyer was savvy enough to ask about the condition of the air cleaner because I don't see the dent mentioned in the ad. I feel I dodged a bullet... that would have gone right through my wallet! eBay Motors_ Huge Datsun 240z Part Lot Air cleaner Seat Belts...pdf- #279 listed on ebay

I appreciate the description & pictures of most of the usual suspect areas. If I bought it I feel I would know exactly what I was getting for my money, overpaying for it or not. :nervous: I wish other eBay ads were as forthright.- #279 listed on ebay
What to do with a fat refund check, pay bills or by a Z? The bills will always be there but the Z will be gone soon...- Rear anti-sway bar brackets - where to find?
You may be better off going with a setup like this... But if you really want to use what you have then I'd suggest welding brackets to the frame before drilling into it as one of the the posts below advise. You'll probably have to fabricate the brackets yourself or get a machine shop/welding shop to fab them for you. Good Luck... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26186&highlight=sway+bar http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25126&highlight=sway+bar http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28970&highlight=sway+bar http://www.summitracing.com/ FYI... You do not want to drill into your frame rails on your Z. The sway bar mounting points have captive nuts inside of the frame rail. You do not want to drill through the rail either, as you will crush the rail when you tighten the bracket bolts.- Wish I could have such luck selling on eBay!
I just re-read the ad. The exhaust leak was mentioned. My bad.- Wish I could have such luck selling on eBay!
- Wish I could have such luck selling on eBay!
I'm posting the eBay ad for the '73 240 I bought in 2005. The seller represented the car accurately. There were a few minor issues such as the horn button was broken and not firmly attached. There was an exhaust leak not mentioned in the ad as well. Both of these were pointed out by the seller when I went to pick up the car. It's no big deal to me really. I drove it from Burbank, CA. to the San Francisco Bay Area. Other than being hard to start one time after stopping for a bite to eat, it ran fine all the way home. Anyway, comments are welcome, even negative ones. I'm glad I bought the car which is all that really matters! Peace! eBay Motors_ Datsun _ Z-Series (item 4584624872 end time Oct-...pdf- I'm getting the "Itch" LOL
Thanks. That does seem the way things go sometimes... too often? To make matters worse I had just transferred from Hawaii to Great Lakes, IL. I bought the truck while on leave and and my insurance hadn't transferred yet. It took so long to get the insurance company to pay for repairs that I picked up the truck from the body shop on the day I was leaving town for my next Duty Station, 9 months after the hit-and-run! Oh well, at least they paid. The body shop did a great job on the truck too. Cheers- Wish I could have such luck selling on eBay!
Thank goodness for freedom of speech. I'm glad that we all have a chance to express our opinions. It didn't sell and the ad still seems suspicious to me. I believe DeesZ is on the mark especially about the lack of pictures in all the places Z lovers want to see pictures of. Whether it was legitimate or not I hope my 260 generates as much interest when I sell it in the next few months. Just tossing a few more pennies in the pot. Pretty soon we'll have enough to buy a parts car. - eBay Item number: 160222065742 - 260Z
