  1. You had the best advice of all Hardway.....when you run into particular problem, or a project is going downhill, just walk away! Patience is not my long suit, but there is a right way and a wrong way.....taking it to the machine shop was definitely the right way in this case.........BTW....I ordered a 24 inch long handled adjustable wrench off of Amazon....it opens to 2 1/2 inches.....front struts "be very afraid"!
  2. Yep....I coated the threads with grease ........It ought to be easier when I do this in another 45 years!
  3. No harm, no foul....... Took it to Citizen's Machine Shop. They couldn't get em off either......not with the thin gland nut head anyway. Carlos welded a plumbing fixture to the top of the gland nut and used an impact wrench to get them off. Some jobs just can't be done at home. .......and brand new Tokico Blues installed

Villeman.....I'm no paint expert, but I don't see any yellow in that primer. More like a very light tan/khaki. If you want it to match, I'd get some color samples at a local paint store and bring them to the car to match....IMO. Looks like you're trying to do a nice resto.....good luck!
  5. 14.9.....Eiji 14.35....I'm building a bigger motor.
  6. A little more music from me and Eiji..... IMG_0425.MOV
  7. So nice to have an Electrical Engineer on our forum.......especially when I know so little about the science.....all I really know about electricity is "it bites you, but you can't see it". Take care of yourself Steve.....we need to keep you around!
  8. Yeah....Who needs a radio in a well tuned L series Z? The music is under the hood!
  9. My white 70 was rescued after being given up for dead in the Arizona desert!

Those purple and gray velour seats are very, very rare Jim........don't believe I've ever seen em that nice before! Windshields (Nissan) are getting hard to find....
  11. Dropped the suspension......taking it to my friend Carlos at Citizen's Machine Shop.....they can do what we can't .......there is a time and a place for the experts.....
  12. Got me a real wrench....2 inches ......I'll let you know if it works! It weighs about 5 lbs. A nut on one end trying to get a nut off of the other end

I'll just be happy to be in the "left hand" seat!

A friend of mine just texted me this pic. He bought the car.....it's coming to Richmond!
  15. $100.00.....Flat fee....he uses paypal. You email the pic you like....he emails it back in 2 to 3 days,
  16. Vector Art.....His name is Oleg....his email is Markaryano@gmail.com. His email address is his paypal.....3 day turnaround He also did my son's Hardbody Nissan....cool truck!
  17. Got a rendering of my favorite Z car....
  18. Do it Jeff....If it works you could probably retire! I think my next step is the machine shop....those guys can do anything......certainly don't want to damage any threads. BTW......I ordered a piece of the square angle iron....have my doubt it will work, but will give it a try......shipping was more than the steel.
  19. Hmmmmm.....now that would give me some torque.....I'll try that......drill two holes and thread a couple bolts in for something to grab with channel locks, but let me tell you.....this baby is really welded on. I used heat and brake fluid.....not a budge.
  20. I'll keep everyone updated on how I either pull this off or totally destroy a good strut
  21. I used a dermel wheel to get close.....I'm going o try to drill several small holes from the edge of the dremel cut, then try to tap out sections....cross your fingers. Steve .....good idea, but I don't have one. These nuts really are a pain....and I've got three more struts to do.
  22. I bought new Tokico Blues and Eibachs for the 73......started on the passenger side rear......totally destroyed the gland nut. The tube is still perfect. Anyone have experience in drilling out the gland nut in sections? Gland nuts suck!

Yeah.....We've got oil coming out of the woodwork! Time to get rid of alcohol in gasoline.....get rid of 2% a year for 5 years.....then gone. That would give farmers a chance to adjust! .......out of here!!!!!!
  24. Another "Gotcha Moment".......Just one more point....there is some adjustment in the front valences that will allow the larger tires to possibly clear. Slide under there, loosen all nuts and slide the valences forward....it'll give you more clearance. Always check in forward and reverse though....and in full turn mode.
  25. I use a big adjustable wrench with a long metal pipe (slides over the wrench handle) for leverage.......but I love your enginuity! A big honkin' pipe wrench sounds like fun!
