Crankshaft Wrench Type
Just curious how others lock flywheel when tightening crank bolt. I usually pull the starter and get a friend to lodge a screw driver in a flywheel tooth to lock the crank. I don’t like to put a screw driver through the cam sprocket or a wrench on the cam as it could put pressure on the timing chain. If on an engine stand, I have a flat metal straight edge I bolt to crank end (2 bolts) until it rests against engine stand to lock the crank. How do others do this? Just curious. Guy

240 Taillight Panel
heyitsrama answered your question in the second post. First of all you didn’t post any pictures of your metal rivets, but if you have metal rivets, the solution as mentioned in that post is simple. Drill the center of the metal rivet out with a small bit and your metal rivets will be gone. Then replace with the Nissan plastic rivets still available from Nissan.

New booster, now sticky brakes
Amazing what that little rubber disc does. I am very surprised that no one makes a replacement disc so you wouldn’t have to pull the booster, but I’ve never seen one offered. I super glued mine on to keep it from falling off on installation.

Restoration of HLS30-12070
Yep, the NA RB Z31 is my son Brandon’s car. I can’t wait to see your finished product. These Z cars are so cool......drive it on dry days....enjoy it. What I’ve found out is the perfect restos don’t bring the really big money anyway......the original cars do. But, I don’t restore these cars for the money, just hooked on the Marque. I expect you are too. Great restoration....nice color combo!!!

That’s pretty cool @SteveJ.......Any bets on how long before you get a call from your HOA? Right after they call your next door neighbor with the Pink Flamingos!

Restoration of HLS30-12070
This car is incredible!!! Just when I see a restoration that I think can’t get any better than that, one gets better than that. I love silver Z’s. My first Z was a 1970 in silver with a black interior. The only thing that worries me is that it’s gonna be too nice to drive. Congratulations on a beautiful restoration!!!!

Z31 N/A RB project
Like father ........like son. This car is going to blow the Z community away! Can’t wait to take the twin Safari Gold cars to an East Coast Z event.

Starting my Wall Sculpture
Looking good Bob. I think I saw your car at Todd’s show several years back....or maybe another show. Twin turbo RB’s are somewhat an overkill for a Z LOL. I rode in one of my friend’s once and almost screamed like a girl! My son is building this one, but it’s gonna be NA.

Starting my Wall Sculpture
Thanks Bob.....It looks better in person. I suggested to my wife that we could display it on our living room wall........the bruises only lasted a week lol. Stop by sometime....I’m in Richmond and BTW, see if you can’t talk Todd into another Hampton Car Show.....they are the best!

Total dog but...
You can’t make this stuff up LOL! Don’t understand why it doesn’t sell, one just sold for $310,000.00. “Probably shouldn’t have used it for surf fishing....at least should have remembered to move it before the tide came in”!

.01 Ring with Standard Piston
Are you kidding me? You want to install .010 inches ( .25 mm) oversized rings on a standard piston? Never heard of anyone doing that, but am sure that would probably be a disaster! Get the cylinders honed at a machine shop, install standard rings on your cleaned up standard pistons and your gaps will be correct. IMHO

Machining cylinder head for more compression?
Ahhh, but by buying a thicker gasket, you are defeating your purpose. By buying a Stage III cam, you are improving the package. Why God created money!!! 😳

Machining cylinder head for more compression?
Good point grannyknot. I’m one of those that run 10.5 to 1 in my strokers, but a high duration, higher lift cam is supposed to solve that problem. I can’t make mine knock. I’m running Isky Stage III .490 lift with 20 degrees more than stock duration.

Squirrel alert!
Never actually been attacked by one, but am damned sure if the guy that hid these behind the driver side front fender of my 71 car (found during restoration), ever sees me, I’ll be missing small pieces of my butt!

Machining cylinder head for more compression?
You are creating a lot of unavoidable work by using the E88 from a 260Z. That just isn’t the best head for performance. It will be cheaper to buy an early E31 or E88 and just bolt it on IMO. The 260 has a longer stroke, so not sure what the CR would be, but would be up there. I’ve never built that combo, but assume the parts would work together to provide 10:1 or so compression. Anyone done that?

Original Areas Painted body
Wow Site.....didn’t know that you were ever wrong LOL......wouldn’t admit it anyway. One point that people tend to miss. The fenders were bolted on when under the hood was painted....therefore the bolts along the top of the inner fenders were painted. The bolts on shock towers weren’t.

Any advice on a 4 Post Lift
Good point 7tooZ........I had to change my garage door lift to a roll up vs a center belt drive.......something to consider.
