  3. Thanks DK........Guy
  4. I'm getting ready to do a swap on my 73 automatic to a 4 speed transmission. Does anyone know if the driveshaft for the automatic and 4 speed are the same? If this is covered in another thread, please let me know as I couldn't find one. Thanks Guy

John.....You're right.... L28 flat-tops are better.....use the flat tops from the later L28 blocks. Put new flat top L28 pistons on your L24 rods......never ever take an old piston off of one rod and put that same piston on another rod. However, if you can find L28 rods with flat top pistons from another engine, you can re-ring the pistons and go with that. Good Luck!
  9. Corvair turbo muffler. In the 70's, it was supposed to be the most free flowing muffler available. Old habits die hard!
  10. I'm biased too! I call it Lemon Green.

I'd use the L28 block, the L24 rods, the L24 crank and the L28 pistons, and SU's. That would give you large displacement with a short stroke.....a more fun engine than the L28. IMO
  12. No problemo! :classic:

Why don't you try running a compression test to make sure the noise isn't valve to piston noise?
  14. Diseazd replied to Pomorza's post in a topic in Help Me !!
Did the engine make the noise before the new chain and tensioner was installed?
  15. All 240Z and 280Z flywheels are interchangeabe. However the Turbo and 2+2 flyheels have a larger facing (240mm) versus the stock flywheel.

I agree with doradox.....Check the harmonic balancer. If it's not torqued properly, your crank pulley will rock on the woodruff key (been there done that). This causes all kinds of noises that sound like it's coming from the chain and camshaft. Mine was caused by the use of a Nismo aftermarket crank bolt and washer that wasn't suited to the stock damper (Thanks MSA and Nismo for not pointing that out).It didn't allow the slinger, worm gear and crank sprocket to lock up tight. The chain noise was only between 1500 and 2500 rpm (sounded like what you described). I don't in a million years think that a different viscosity oil is responsible for your noise. If someone installed a new chain and tensioner, make sure they didn't use that aftermarket Nismo crank bolt and washer.....if not, check the torque on the stock bolt.
