  1. All cranks 70-83 are the same dimensions and you should be able to inter-change dampers. The timing marks are in different locations depending on what motor they came from.

Who's going to Savannah next week?

Will do......We should get there Monday at about 2:00. I found the test in the FSM......If I can get all the plumbing to run the test, it should answer my question. Guy

How can you tell if your brake booster is good?
  5. Right Gforce......2nd time it's happened to me.

I've always heard 10 lbs. Per 1,000 rpm.........different sending units give different readings. I've got a sending unit that gives me 30 lbs. At idle and 70 lbs. At 5,000 rpm in any of my Z's I install it in. Want to buy it? I agree with Bruce....you're pressures look fine.
  7. The car hasn't had a battery in 32 years........replaced the new voltage regulator.....didn't help. Put an old alternator in....works! Why would a brand new rebuilt alternator be defective?
  8. I just fired up the new engine in my 71. The amp meter pegs all the way right a nd the alternator heats up. I changed the voltage regulator.....same result. Any ideas where to go next? Guy
  9. Jeff .......You really need to see it in person.....it's everything we hoped for 3 years ago. Chuck is "The Man"!
  10. MSA had them 10 months ago.......Thanks....Guy
  11. Marc.........New fan and fan clutch.......I cleaned the brake lines with brake cleaner and steel wool and painted them with aluminum VHT paint. Hunter.....I glass beaded the aluminum parts and painted them with aluminum block paint. I screwed the valve cover down to a flat piece of wood and taped up all other entry holes.......one piece of grit can be bad news. Same thing with the oil pan.....bead blasted that, then acid etch prime, then semi gloss black enamel.
  12. Updates..........
  13. Rich........Thanks....you're right......I'll get that done tomorrow. Once the engine is in, that stuff gets harder to do. Guy
  14. Just ordered a new set of Goodrich KDW II'S for the Panasports. I think wheels and tires will finish her off nicely just like they did for Rich's gold car (MOTORMAN7). Doug....the pics are downloaded from FLICKR... some work firewalls block FLICKR. Jeff....didn't mean to call you Steve. Guy

Wow.....How about his diff mount.....bought 3 of them......fantastic and precise fit......great upgrade. Thanks Dave for your quality products!
  16. Step 42.......Don't forget the 2 little "hiding" bolts that attach the head to the front cover. Super job BLUE.....you should write a factory service manual....you'd sell a million!

Sorry....just found the culprit.....cigarette lighter and fuse block screws. It's sitting on my wife's coffee table now!

I removed the 3 screws behind the choke lever......my 73 has 2 screws below the radio that attach to the side of the tunnel....the 71 doesn't have these screws. What else is holding the console on the 71? It won't come off. Thanks. Guy

Thanks Steve and Jeff. Just finished the job. I bled the MC again......then bled the balance valve ( under the MC by loosening the fittings on top while the pedal was depressed ). I then went to the passenger rear....this time I used a clear tube emerged in a clear cup with brake fluid in it. When the bubbles no longer were present and fluid was rising, I knew it was a success! Then to the driver rear wheel...passenger front and driver front. Those took no time at all. I hate brake work. ...........you're dealing with a liquid that eats paint. Glad that's done....thanks for the advice. Guy

Steve......I'm thinking master cylinder. I bled the first reservoir first and the 2nd reservoir 2nd. The book said bleed both at the same time. Could this be my problem (air in the MC)? Yes the peal is activating the brakes and it is firm (doesn't get softer as I maintain pressure on the pedal). I'm thinking about pulling the MC and starting over. Guy

How is it possible to have such a strong pedal with that much air in the system? The pedal is firm like it's air free?

    On all four corners?
  23. Thanks Steve....the green one is set up.....Will woods, coil overs, camber plates and an L 28..,. It's my first choice, but I love them all. Can't wait to drive the gold car. I can build an engine in the dark, but don't know crap about brakes. Guy

I'm using a vacuum pump......I keep bleeding and bleeding...some fluid...mostly air.....it just doesn't seem to pull pure fluid. I do have a fairly firm brake pedal, but still sucking mostly air from the rear passenger side. I'll keep trying.
  25. Sure will.....I'm working on buying a race car right now. Better than tracking a nice car!
