  1. You know there are two different types of S12+8 -one vented / one not vented. The housing looks the same - the width of the span where the rotor goes is the only difference. They come off different years of the Toyota 4 Runner and such. Just a reminder.
  2. I agree with Charles and that is exactly what I did to my hub a few months ago - take it all apart - it just takes a few minutes to pop the studs out and put the others in. Stay safe on the twistys!
  3. Spacers - Summit or JEGS has them - you may have to take them to a machine shop and have them ground down - 1/4" may be all you can find out there and you may just need 1/8" clearance. You will have to get some longer stud bolts as well to make it work - NAPA has them - take your stud to the parts counter and get one size longer - make sure you get the same thread. Did you go vented rotors or solid?
  4. I have purchased one of these a few years ago from the same vendor - worth every penny. You may want to grab it while you can. It will pay for itself quickly - just give the item code to your Nissan dealer and if it is still being made you will not have to go to MSA anymore - my parts manager gives me his body shop rate. 5. A larger venturi and increased porting could help achieve that 200+hp.
  6. I did take the Z out for a spin this evening - 2200RPM @ 60 MPH in 5th gear.
  7. 81-83 ZX 5 Speed with a 3.9 is about perfect for spirited twisty's and interstate driving. At 60mph my tach drops under 3K and has a nice low growl in 5th gear. If you are not going to do much interstate driving go with the 3:54 and 4 speed. 3.90 R180's are tough to find - are you going with a R200 or a R180? Word of advise - don't believe anybody when they claimed that they have rebuilt the manual transmission - have a shop open her up and give her a quick inspection - you can turn the bearings and if they don't roll very smooth - change them out before you install that transmission. They will have a gritty turn or wobbly feel if they are worn at all. Better to find that on the front end as to having to drop it back out. Keep us posted
  8. I still have my Hitachi's but doubt I will ever put them back on - should be interesting. What is the bulletpoints of your engine set up other than the L28 - what head and block, cam, so forth?
  9. Leon - You know what opinions are like..............
  10. I agree with Steve. There are some great looking cars out there now from many auto-makers. Nissan needs to step up to the challenge -not backwards.
  11. Be sure to plan you work - then work you plan. 15" wheel size is very limited with quality tires and if you plan on upgrading to bigger brakes the 15 wheels (depending on what you are doing) will still need wheel spacers to push the wheel out of the way of the caliper. I would go with a staggered tire size regardless of what size wheels you end up running. It will take a lot of research to get all this the way you want it but it will be worth the time involved.
  12. I've got Porterfield's - extreme dust - but great stopping power
  13. That is the beautiful thing with a Z - old school / modded / classic / racing / tons of things you can do and several different engines with the classic body lines. A lot of parts from 240/260/280/and ZX's are interchangeable. It's all up to the owner on how and what they want to do - and the funds they want to spend. Keep us posted on what you want to do with it once you find it

  15. Sorry for the bad luck - but the good part is the new engine is going to rock. Let us know about the new configuration with the crank and rods.
  16. Gorden - Welcome to the site - post some pictures (old and new) - love to see what she looks like. I'm betting you've got some great stories as well.
  17. Vertical over/under is the way to go
  18. Are you aware that these are still being made? Monza Exhaust tips for Cars, Trucks and SUV'S | Pacesetter Performance Products
  19. I agree with Stephen above - the old saying you can pay me now or pay me later applies with this type of mod. I would buy the best you can afford to have the best set up possible. You may want to talk to Todd about soda blasting and rebuilding whatever you have - if you are planning on running 44's tell us about your engine. A lot of folks try to go WAY to big with their carb system where the engine can not support it - be careful and detailed with your build to avoid future problems. Mine has been spot on ever since day one (I did add a rear fuel filter after one of my float bowls started flowing fuel over my hot header - not good).
  20. Are there particular questions you have on your future purchase or install?
  21. Reach out to Todd at Wolf Creek Racing - or - Dave at Rebello Racing.
  22. Get in touch with Dave Rebello at Rebello Racing - he can custom grind - I would go no less than a stage III personally
  23. Dan - Welcome to the site - get ready for a great ride!
