  1. Rich - From my understanding talking to Todd at Wolf Racing and Dave at Rebello's they should generate around 40 additional horsepower - my engine output should be close to 270 horsepower with the engine rebuild from last year and the head work from Rebello's. I could have pulled some more horsepower out of it but really no need since my intentions are not to track this car. A different intake manifold would have gotten my closer to 300hp. At some point I will dyno it but just so my plugs are looking good once I get the install done I'm really happy where I am currently. Next years project will be a 5 speed / r200 / upgraded half shafts. Hopefully to have this finished up over the weekend - it should just take a couple of hours to get everything hooked up and sync'd.
  2. Mothers Power Cone is worth every penny - you may think that it will not hold up to a drill but be ready to be surprised!! This is a great item to use along with a good alum polish. I still use wet sandpaper with different steps but this will put that final shine on it..........outstanding item along with your power drill! http://www.mothers.com/02_products/05146.html
  3. Heat Shield was a breeze to attach - very supportive and raised edge all the way around to add support to the vibration and heat. I am adding a heat barrier to the underside that reflects heat up to 2000 degree at 90% - gotta keep the fuel cool!
  4. Mike - Todd at Wolf Creek Racing could not get the heat shield or the fuel rail. I had to hook up with a guy from Japan to buy and ship it to me. There is a source for the heat shield but I could not find the 3 barb fuel rail anywhere in the states at all.
  5. Yea - I know what you mean - I told my wife "I'm going to buy a set of Mikuni's for the Datsun - and she said OK...............how much - I told her and she said OK.................what the hell?? I know I'm getting set up for something!!
  6. Quality is always my first pick - I'd rather buy it right the first time as to buy it a second time due to finding a cheap part (that goes for scotch as well!!)
  7. Just arrived from Wolf Creek Racing Todd has done a fantastic job with this new addition to my car. I'm really stoked about getting these on and the car fired up. All soda blasted and ready to set the idle and sync. Pretty close to a plug and play install. I'll be removing the current mechanical fuel pump and adding an electric one along with a pressure regulator to maintain fuel pressure at 3 +/- .5 PSI along with a heat shield and triple fuel rail. The jetting setup is: 40mm Mikuni Carbs 32mm Venturis 40 Pump Jets 57.7 Pilot Jets 150 Main Fuel Jets 190 Air Connector Jets Hometown elevation is 3200 feet Hope to install over the weekend - stay tuned for further updates.
  8. Will any shifter work or do we need to modify the shifter to work in the tunnel? So....I guess what I am asking is if I was to use a 78 5 speed - can I still use my '72 shortened shifter?
  9. Welcome!! Great ready for a great ride!!
  10. Matt - One more thing that may help you. I do have a salvage yard with several 240's - 260's - 280's and ZX's. I keep it close to my chest due to the fact that there are not many salvage yards near us anymore. PM me and I can give you info when you are closer. This is a short drive for you to get the body parts that you may need for your project........fenders - doors - glass - so forth.
  11. Matt - That is one tough story. I'm a 100 miles from you in Boone. PM me.....I do have a connection in Winston for engine work - a semi-retired race driver that owns a auto repair shop west of Winston. Not sure in Winston on body work for your needs. I've got a buddy that can complete a rebuild for you if needed. Give me a shout if I can help.
  12. I'm sure these will be great quality piece just like all the ones on your web site - looking forward to a marketing date so we can purchase!
  13. Excellent - thanks for spending the time for this!
  14. I have used the SEM Dye in the past and it is excellent - it will not peel - scrape - flake. It is a great bond just so you prep it correctly. Keep the temp up and have fun!
  15. Alex - Welcome to the site. Very close production number we share! I wonder if they rolled out the same day?? Get ready for a great ride!
  16. Call Roger - he may have some in his bins - all you would need to do is spot them in. http://www.zbarn.com/
  17. Welcome to the site - I am hoping to do the same to my son on down the road. Looks like a great car! Get a few more pictures up when you get a chance.
  18. Great info guys! I'm sure this info will assist all that are piecing this puzzle together as well as myself. Once I finalize my set up I will post the details. I do believe a return line is the best for the performance as well as a heat shield of some sort. There must not be a lot of Mikuni owners out there since we have only had a few responses back on this subject.
  19. Chris - Thanks for the info on the sizing - your set up looks great - I'm really fired up about this project! A few questions for you please: Are you running an vacuum on your dist advance? Are you deadheading your fuel line or using a return (I believe the JDM deadheads). Do you have another JDM fuel rails -those things are tough to find!!!'' Any recommendations on my set up? Thanks for you assist!
  20. David- Thanks for sharing your set up - looks great. I have noticed on other posts here and Hybridz that states that we should not have a vacuum from the distributor set up - (I was planning on leaving my unattached and working on my timing setting: Run more initial timing 12-14 degree advance @ 1000rpm 36 degree total by 3000 rpm What are your thoughts and how is your timing curve?
  21. So far I can only find one heat shield that is made with a "lip". http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/dt47542/pd1277652/HEAT_SHIELD__DRIP_PAN__WEBER_SOLEX_MIKUNI_ I reviewed hundreds of internet sites - links -youtube postings. It's amazing how many setups do not include a heat shield. I would really think that would be a necessity, not an option.
  22. Buy the best degreaser you can find before you paint.....you'll be glad you did. Get some wet/dry sand paper and work on your valve cover - it may take you a while but if you want a highly polished shine - thats the way to do it (of course it helps if you have a air compressor and some red polish clay)!
  23. I'm trying to do as much research as possible so I can plan out my fuel distribution and keep things as cool as possible. I'm really surprised that Nissan ran the original fuel rail where they did. I may come across the front of the block (by the water pump) and dead head to the carbs with no return. Todd at Wolf Creek Racing said to do away with the current rail and return system. The new system would only have 3.4 to 4 psi and if I can keep the fuel away from the intake area then the hot fuel issue should no be an issue (hopefully). Frank - what did you do for a heat shield?
  24. Frank - Great looking setup and I'm sure she runs great! How did you attach the fuel block?
