  1. Zak- One more question for you. Have you researched grommets yet? I have been in contact with David House at Courtesy Nissan in Texas and here are the Nissan part numbers for the interior grommets if that will help you. I am going to chart them (as I do my install) in my 72 so maybe somebody will put together a kit when people like us are trying to do a restoration. I searched this website and could not find anything on Nissan parts with a cross reference to where they go and how many are needed. 67831-32200 the book calls for 4 27035-21000 the book calls for 2 72492-N3001 the book calls for 4 74942-10900 the book calls for 4 77700-89914 the book calls for 10 64821-32200 the book calls for 7 I am not replacing my firewall gommets due to not pulling my dash at this point. Hope that helps if you have not researched it yet. It looks like VIN numbers are close:D
  2. Zak - You and I are at the same stage. This was taken earlier this week 110 Red......PPG 72000. After I have removed the gray primer, the burgandy paint, I finally found (what I thought was 918.......my body shop mixed up a gallon and I guess they will have a sale on 918 Orange) I'm sure your color is going to look great. My body is getting painted this week and final assembly this week as well. My project started in March '07. Are you putting in a new interior?? I am doing all but the dash (just can't cough it up right now) this project has grown more that I originally thought a year and a half ago. My wife has been very supportive so far but I know my luck is going to run out sooner than later - I havn't sprung the wheels and tires on her yet. Keep the pictures coming.
  3. Paul, I couldn't agree with you more. Now, if I can just get the body shop to give me my car back. It was due back so many times I can't keep my dates right. The last promise was today, but naturally that did not happen, maybe next week. I've got all new interior parts to go back in her (other than a dash - my son and I went to a salvage yard and pulled a dash out - I ebayed the parts - damn, what a project. I thought about doing it to my car with a new one but it's too big of a project for me - a dash cap is much easier for now, maybe on down the road). Thanks for the vote of color, your picture looks great!
  4. I purchased a complete set from MSA and my Z is coming out of the body shop next week. Hopefully I will have the interior body panels (complete set) and refoamed and covered seats installed by weeks end. I am taking a week off work to get it completed. I'll post pictures once completed.
  5. Zero Z Richmonds a great place. I use to live there in the mid to late 60's off of West Broad. A lot has changed since then.
  6. Astewart, My neck of the woods is due for snow next week!! I can feel your pain, but, everything looks better from the behind the wheel of a Z car. Welcome.
  7. I purchased the premium kit (boards and rails).
  8. Well, she has been in the body shop for 375 days and finally today I got to see what 110 Red / 72000 PPG looks like. That was her original color until somebody decided to paint burgandy overtop of her and then spray gray primer on top of that. What an incredible group of knowledge this site has to offer. I have been looking/reading/learning and trying to incorporate as much as I can myself with the support of this car club. Just a big "thanks" goes out to all of you. I should have the car out of the body shop hopefully this coming Monday, then off to the glass shop, then back to my man cave to get the interior back in. I'll post again once the Z gets re-assembled. What a journey!
  9. I have used the MSA floor panels. My body shop installed at the end of last year. Evidently they installed fine with no major challanges for the techs to work with.
  10. NWA240Z, Absoulutly a beautiful Z, you have done her justice!
  11. SB- I own a 1930 Model A Tudor and when I first got it I had a similar problem. My Model A mechanic told me to do the same as Arne had mentioned but change the oil and replace one full quart with Marvel Mystery Oil. I am still running that "oil blend" and it has cleaned and helped my challange a lot. After 500 miles (and 500 miles is a lot for a Model A) I will change it out and replace. That Marvel Mystery Oil seems to have done its job, no more smoke and the engine sounds better as well, I'm sure things were sticking in there. I don't average 500 miles per year on that car (summer driving and parades mostly).
  12. My '72 is on its last of a year long mission to the body shop (one year, three days and counting). I was there this morning and the tech's were wet sanding. They had a bucket of water keeping the surface wet along with keeping the spent material out of the wet sandpaper. They were sanding doors and were not using a block. The car had already been blocked several times with a guide coat of black over the primer. The black guide coat gets blocked off to show the highs and lows and what and where needs more attention. The final wet sand should only be a very fine finish layer to make everything smooth. I hope that helps.
  13. Jared, I'm only 30 miles from you up in Boone. It looks like your project is going just fine and the shop you are in has a great reputation. I'd like to stop by someting and see your progress. Mine has been in the body shop for exactly 1 year today but due out in the next couple weeks. I should be getting in the paint booth next week (918 Orange), with re-assembly week after next. Good luck on your project, it looks very thorough.
  14. Excellent thread.......thanks for the post and the information!
  15. Has anybody purchased a front windshield from Black Dragon? My 240 is coming out of the bodyshop in approx 6 weeks and need to try to figure out what to do. I remove my original myself with no injury to the glass but I would like to have a unpitted, unscratched glass to go with my restoration. I'll have a glass company to do the install.
  16. Does anybody have any pictures that they can share with the Wicks formula for the finishers?? Please share if you do. I have a '72 coming out of the body shop in about 30 days and I'm going to have to make a choice on that finish......Thanks.
  17. I live about 3 hours from The ZBarn. I went over a couple of weeks ago and picked up a fender and front and rear overriders. Thanks for the heads up.
  18. Has anybody tried one of these replacement power antennas from e-bay?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180139689348&rd=1,1
  19. Maybe this will help. This was quoted for a '72. I'm getting ready to order plugs from MSA......here is what they quoted me yesterday. They offer 4 different sizes: 43.0mm Item 30-8001@ 10.33 each (largest spare tire area) 32.0mm Item 30-8003@ 00.93 each 25.4mm Item 30-8002@ 2.42 each (Floor Pan Plug 1") 25.0mm Item 30-8004@ 2.27 each
  20. MSA said that their vendor was unable to repair my door panels and they are shipping them back to me .............does anybody have a cores that they would like to sell (they do not have to be skinned). They would need to be undamaged cores, left and right sides (speaker cut-outs are ok.......just no water damage). Please e-mail me.
  21. MSA has told me another 2 weeks until they recieve my door panels....mid June.....I will post pictures once they come in. I don't need them right now anyway because I have floor pans to replace this week and then hopefully the body shop and a paint job.
  22. Well........no luck today. I called MSA and they took delivery of my door panels this afternoon. Now they have to come to the east coast. I did ask about the chrome piping and MSA said that was included on the restoration of the door panels. I'll post pictures sometime in approx 7 days. A little closer every day!
  23. I'm expecting my refurbished door panels from MSA tomorrow. I'll post pictures over the weekend if they come in. Mitchell
  24. My door panels are due back from MSA in approx 1 week. Let me know and I can give you an update on the quality of work and appearance. Mitchell
