  1. What a great time everybody had at this event..perfect weather, one of the best driving roads in the nation - US 129 Tail of the Dragon, and great fellowship. I cut my original shifter down about 2.5" - reduced the height and shifts great!

Stephen: I vote for you to leave that steering wheel in the Z for a few weeks - I really like the larger grip in my hands on the twistys - maybe not the interstate which I have to drive over 1 hour just to get to an interstate. But on the twistys the Momo has much a better feel. Maybe the white stitching is throwing you off. Mine is the Momo Competition - not sure if the two sizes are the same (I would have to think so) but I personally like the modernized look of the cockpit area..........but really like the better hold on the wheel with spirited driving. I really thought about buying a Nissan Competition Steering Wheel and had one lined up from Japan but had to bring myself to reality about the $USD that I was going to pay. There is a reason the Nissan Competition has a thicker hand grip area...............anyway - it's hard to go wrong either way with our cars........modifications are a very personal thing and you have not made any errors. Best of luck on whatever wheel you keep in the car. I'm keeping my refinished original wheel but doubt it will go back in - the same thing for the original refinished seats...........my son will be the next steward of my car so he can figure it out on down the road which ones he likes the best.

I have a Momo Competition steering wheel and Recaro seats - looking forward to 500 mile drive (round trip) to ZDayZ later this week.
  8. Everytime you lift the rear wheels you always have to double check the spring perch due to it not seating back correctly. Before you cut anything or measure anything make sure they are seated......if not you could end up with a "surprise" you were not counting on.
  9. To do it right it is still not cheap! Call Dave Rebello at Rebello Racing - he is one of the masters at squeezing every ounce of HP from our engines.

  11. Steve- Great shots - are you coming to ZDayZ at Fontana Dam?
  12. Tail of the Dragon is now 35 MPH with no tractor trailers - they could not do much about the drop offs with that many twisty's you could not 55MPH without killing yourself anyway............
  13. I added a rear spoiler with no badge on the hatch. Left the other badges in place
  14. 600 registered attendees from 29 different states are coming as of today to drive one of the best roads in North America.............are you registered for this event? http://zdayz.com/ An annual event started in 2004 "By Enthusiasts For Enthusiasts" located near the Tail of the Dragon in the Smokey Mountains. 15. I bought a can from Les - took it to the PPG shop in my hometown - had them mix up some PPG paint to color with some clear mixed in - and air'd it on. Turned out beautiful and a much better protected coat of paint. Then I ebayed the rattle can and got my money back. Worked great for me and the tail finisher is painted correctly................PPG is not cheap though. My hometown Auto Paint Supply house can custom mix a little as 2 ounces - if you mix that 50/50 with a good reducer it works great.

Sometimes you can find a Nissan Part Number manual on ebay - i bought one several years ago -most of the parts managers at your local Nissan dealership will not be able to look up part numbers on our cars. Once the parts guys found out the car I was working on they gave me the "body shop" prices which was about a 15% discount off list. Enjoy your journey and keep us posted
  18. You know once you get your jetting set and chokes confirmed you have to balance your air flow between all three of three of them. Do you own one of these? If not go ahead and buy one - you will need it sooner than later. http://vwparts.aircooled.net/Snail-Type-Syncrometer-Carb-Sync-Tool-GERMAN-SK-p/ste-sk.htm

  20. Freddy - Have you researched any for a Weber manual - there is a formula you use to get the correct jets and chokes for Webers - if you research I'm sure you can get you Webers dialed in. There is a lot of info on this site - try the search feature first - if all else fails MSA sells info as well as this: http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC-C10-9696
  21. Jon - Welcome to the site - get ready to have some fun in your garage! You may want to add to your signature the year of your Z. If there was one mod I was going to do with your 370 it would be a Fast Intentions Exhaust System. My son just got his installed last month and what a huge difference in the exhaust. There are a few YouTube clips out there. The systems are a little pricey but they sound great. Tony hand builds all of them and the workmanship is excellent - very easy bolt on - just follow his instructions step by step. If you are looking for a serious engine get in touch with Dave Rebello - he is the master in race performance for our "L" engines. Dave can do block work - head work - cam work - any and all that you are looking for - he is extremely knowledgeable on our engines and will give you great guidance as well thoughout your project. I elected to take care of my own block but had Daves team take care of my head and cam - worked out great for me - sounds like you may want to change cranks though. There is one on ebay I think right now for about $900.00. If you are looking for some serious carbs get in touch with Todd at Wolf Creek Racing for triple Mukini's if that is the route you are wanting to go - get ready to have fun and spend a few dollars!! http://www.rebelloracing.com/ http://www.wolfcreekracing.com/
  22. Have somebody hold your RPM's at 3000. If you are running triples you really need to get a wideband to know where you are. Lots of recent posts on this topic.
  23. Great looking Z! White was the color of my first 240 back in '78. Love it!
  24. Thanks for the kind words - just takes a lot of time and lot of money! http://www.thezstore.com/store/merchant.mvc? Search Strut Bar - they were originally blue but just did not look right in my engine bay so now the mounts are my body and block color - it works for me. I did the same to the rear one.
