  1. Julio- I installed my about this time last year - total solid shifts still. One of the best mods I've done.
  2. Get some of Mama's clear fingernail polish and put a few drops on the flapper control - that will keep it "glued" until you need to reposition it and break it loose - old Ford Model A trick..............
  3. Tim- Welcome to the site. I'm just northwest of you a couple of hours in Boone. You may want to use the search feature to research your problems. Most every angle of our cars have been discussed many times with many different angles to fix, improve, modify, change, or enhance what ever issue is at hand. If you can't find your fix, post your concerns out to the group. There are many extremely knowledgeable folks on this board and know these cars inside and out. I have very limited knowledge on the 280's since I deal with a '72. Good luck on your project - I would have to agree for you to start with the radiator and take it out to have it cleaned - rodded - and boiled. While you have the gas tank out I would have it cleaned and coated. Use the search feature and there will be detailed pics on how to DIY with most projects along with detailed info!
  4. Welcome - get some pictures up when you get a chance.
  5. This tire has been discontinued by Yoko - but........I just picked up a set at Tire Kingdom and they wanted them out - bought for $78 per tire and that is a great value - call around, but be sure to look at your current wheel size. Best of luck with your project and show us what you've got!! Yoko AVS ES100's 225/50/15:love:
  6. Your engine could be too cool - what thermo are you running? A 160 or 180 or none?
  7. Julio- Did Dave do any head work for you? If so, can you tell me what your specs were and if your happy with the work. Thanks in advance. I'm getting ready to order a head with cam from Dave next week.
  8. Have you pulled all six plugs and inspected? Have you ran a compression test - what is your oil comsumption?
  9. By the way - I did try all my local tire shops but none to be found on the Yoko's.........my previous tire was crap - they would follow ruts in the pavement and just a junk tire (PO), they had plenty of tread on them but the quality was what was killing me. It took almost 4 years but a little closer to being finished with this project. Now - September appointment to work on the engine bay with a head and block rebuild - I'm getting close to being finished - hell, there won't be anything left to do! My wife must really love me!! If I ever add up all this stuff I will have a heart attack!!
  10. Just picked up a NEW set of Yokohama AVS ES100's 225-50-15's for $78 per tire!! They are still out there if you can find them. The Tire Kingdom had 5 near my hometown (they have 1 left at this point). If anybody is looking you better get them before they are all gone!! Getting them installed in the morning - I'm really fired up
  11. What a great album - HIGHWAY STAR gets my vote! Hold on and turn it up!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh0iihjANPc
  12. You're going to fit in nicely here! One more book you need to buy is a Nissan part book that gives you all the breakdowns with Nissan part numbers. There are a lot of parts that you can still order from your local Nissan dealer. Let your local parts manager know that you are working on a Datsun and ask him if he can give you a helping hand on the cost. My manager in my home town sells me all the parts I want at body shop cost (approx a 25% discount - and no freight with 3 day turn on ordering vs. delivery date). They can not look up the part numbers and that is why you need to parts book. I bought my over the internet for $60 but well worth the money IMO! This may help - it's a little difficult to use but you'll get the hang of it - the book is easier if you can find one. http://carfiche.com/fiche009/s30/index.pl?1:b:1
  13. Check out this link for a Road & Track clip on the BRE Z and the Tribute 370Z http://www.roadandtrack.com/racing/video/bre-nissan-370z-datsun-240z
  14. Allen- If you get a chance post a picture of the fit of that $50 car cover. Pictures speak a thousand words. Thanks in advance.
  15. Use Airplane Paint Stripper - it will come off with a paper towel -eye protectors - fresh air - is a must - follow the directions on the can. Advance Auto carrries it in their auto paint area.
  16. Mark- One of the best $100 I've spent on my car is the original breather and K&N air filter for my car. I reconnected all the correct emmissions up so all the hoses are re-connected correctly. Due to the natural air horns on the original air breather I really believe I have a little more power rolling through my carbs. I use to have the same set up that you have but this was a good upgrade for me. You can get intouch with THE ZBARN and Roger can hook you up with a nice original breather and the correct hardware. If you do a search you can find the closest original paint - and with a little elbow grease and a little painting skill your carb set up would go back to original. And yep, you can still purchase the reproduction decals for the breather...........just a thought;) Great looking car by the way! Killer tires - that is one of my next projects next driving season
  17. A happy wife - A happy life!! Sounds like you have the best of both worlds!!
  18. Indoor for $20+..........if you try it post a picture and verify the fit. For a garage kept car that really does not see the weather,..... or cats - this could be the perfect dust cover. Keep us updated on this one!!
  19. Has anybody used one of these to make mulitiple power connections from your battery power terminal? StreetWire FBXM68? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-JBzEyNMMd9Y/p_211FBXM68/StreetWires-FBXM68.html In todays world of cell phones - nav - upgraded sound systems - Daves wiring harnesses - radar detectors - IPODS - there must be a organized way to pull power from your battery and feeding accessories without the engine bay looking like a mess. ------------------------- Also - while we are at it: Wirthco 30200 Fuse Tap Kit - agc With a lot of todays electronics we have to pull a power source from the fuse block as well as pull continual power from the battery. Has anybody found anything better than this to use to pull power from the fuse block? http://www.amazon.com/Wirthco-30200-Fuse-Tap-Kits/dp/B000CQDRSE ------------------------- Thanks in advance for sharing your idea's and photos!

  21. I can understand a trickle or a tender change in winter but come on guys - its the middle of summer..........
  22. I own both - a Unisyn and a Synchrometer. My pick is: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/60-9976 We do get a club discount from MSA - give them you CZCC membership number and on most products you will get up to 10% off. The Unisyn will fit in the air opening for a quick test but if I want a detailed air metering the entire air breather will come off, there is no adjustments on the Synchrometer - just put it up to the air opening and regardless of the RPM, the meter is dead on. Once you see the picture of both the choice is easy. Z Therapy may have both is stock, you would have to call to find out.
