Has anybody came up with a solid solution to this ongoing challange. I had completed a nationwide dealer search for the Nissan part number and called Canada for the part number. There is one hose that is totally out of production that does not exist anymore. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD NISSAN DO THIS TO A BRAKE PART FOR OUR CARS?

I just installed this spring a set from MSA. I also installed a new interior and these do look great with easy in and out. I do have to agree with the above statement. I am 5'10" and the shoulder belt does rub on my neck as well. I would rather have some protection vs. no protection. That steering wheel would do some damage. Install was very easy unless you have put Dynamat in and covered up your mounting holes.........if so get a nail set and find your screw holes and cut out around them. Let us know your results.

Not trying to steal the thread but I had to say "thanks" to Jon for the tip on the R/T Diff Mount. I ordered one today.............I'm real excited to see if it STOPS THE THUNK. I have already changed out all u-joints and replaced the diff mount........$62 bucks........I'll give it a shot to get rid of that THUNK Again, didn't try to steak the thread but had to say thanks!

Jesse- I gotta thing for slot wheels......can ya tell? You know what my choice is but the confusion is where you say "stock - 4 slot".....Arne is the site pro when it comes to tires and wheels. What ever you do, what ever descision you make, make sure to check your wheel offset......if you don't, you could get the tire rubbing on your outter fender wells which is not cool...........be sure to check that clearence to avoid tire rash with your fenders!! Kurk- I have my car insured through Hagerty Insurance for "agreed value" that I established. I always watch ebay to see what a Vintage Z auctions for and that is how I came up with my agreed value (also taking in considerations with my actual reciepts that I have spent on my car. My insured value is $25,000 along with my replacement value. I my car was totaled tomorrow (GOD forbid) I would recieve a check for the total replacement value I have it declared through my carrier. Naturally the more I appraise the car for the more my premium is. I guess my insurance premium is really on the value of the dollar as much as the car.

I would change the gear oil and see if that helps. Make sure you do not overfill. You may want to put a little kerosene in the diff and flush it out real good and put some gear oil back in..........if it is still screaming get in touch with Roger........I'm sure he can help you with a R180 or a R200. If you change rear ends be sure to count your teeth or know your gear ratio, you may have to change your speedo gear. http://www.zbarn.com/

I had emailed our Admin last year dealing with setting up the CZCC logo at Lands Ends and then letting the members call into Lands End and any shirt - coat - pull over- or any item that they logo we could have logo'd, and let each member pay for what ever they order and not have to have an inventory of any item at all (that would be the perfect distributor for CZCC apparel). The site would not have to inventory anything. There is an approx $100 set up charge for clubs and that is it. I'm sure 10 of us would cowboy up $10 each to get it done for the rest of the members (I know I would). Never heard back a thing either.............still waiting! We could have tshirts - hats - coats - fleese pullovers - jackets - windbreakers - well, if Lands Ends makes it and if there is room for a logo, they can put it on. I bet even a small duffle bag for car shows................still waiting!

I have put a cheesecloth or an old t-shirt in a funnel and drain into the funnel and then into your container to catch your old fuel. Then you can see exactly what is coming out of your tank.........hopefully nothing! I keep a beer bong in my garage for that purpose.

Yea, Tony - Its crazy, my son is 22 and a grad student at Furman University in South Carolina (bio-chemisty). When I was his age all I was focused on was T&A and not Model T's and Model A's.........well, I guess one may have been a model but that's another story. Your family tree looks like it has a few Datsun branches in it. I've seen the pictures with your son's in it and it always puts a smile on my face. My son ins into cars but he likes the newer Subaru's with all the turbo and WRX power...........they are a wagon but damn, they are fast! Rich did a fantastic job working the original window sticker for my Z car. If you are showing or your son's showing any it really does look good on the window. Thanks again Rich!!

Wasn't high school great back in '76!! I was 16 and just got my license. Great Times!! High Times!! I had a buddy and his father would keep on buying him brand new Z cars. He would go and wreck on and get antother. I guess that went on for 3 or 4 cars (all Z cars). He ended up with a green '78 that was hot and then I loss track of his cars..............I guess some of us are lucky we lived through those years!

A true work of art. I was at a show over the weekend (showing my '29 Roadster) and a guy was there with a Dodge Barracuda that had this completed for his car. It was pretty impressive that he had spent the time to have it done. This will look great at any show. I'll be sure to drop a few bucks in your paypal account...........thanks again for the assist!

Through my restoration - refresh process over the past 3 years, most of the ebay items I see are nothing more than a dealer purchased item and then marked up and put on ebay. I agree with everybody else, ocassionally you can find some NOS (New Old Stock) that the dealers and distributors do not have.......ie door panels - dashes - rear tail lights........ But for the most, it is just another mark up that somebody is pocketing the profit. Between Courtsey Nissan - MSA - and the others listed above I feel they are the best shot on getting the best deals along with a premium product. If you let MSA know you are a CZCC member along with your membership number they will give you a 5 - 10% discount on most items ordered. If you don't have a salvage yard near you The Z Barn is pretty good. Roger has more stuff then he even knows and takes a little time to get back with you. I did just buy a diff a last month and it saved me so keep him as a contact. He has 1000's of parts and is located in the eastern side of Tennessee near Knoxville in Maryville, Tenn. I have purchased a few good items off ebay because a lot of our items are flat out not made anymore and it's either ebay or a salvage yard. By the way, don't use a Dremel on your steering wheel, just good old fashion elbow grease..........it will end up looking great once you complete it. My first one I used a Dremel and it removed too much of the composite. I didn't do that to the second one and it turned out great. I got my second one at a salvage yard for $10 dollars and an original Hitachi AM/FM radio for $15.00 that worked perfect, just a little clean up and good as new!! Yep, sold on ebay for :tapemouth

I second the '72 window sticker. I would galdly pay somebody for their time if we could match it up with the orginal document.

Matt- Great barn find! Congratulation!! There is a great book out there called "Cobra in the Barn"....it's a great read about barn finds, but I'm sure you're not going to be having much time for casual reading. Once you get that cleaned up be sure to get some pictures posted, we are all excited to see how she looks!! Take your time getting her up and running and be sure to do it the right way. Be ready for a great experience!!........oh yea, don't worry about a budget, just go for it!

I went yesterday to get a little "wobble" out of my rear end of my '72 yesterday - I was wobbling at 55mph+ . I pulled the rear wheels off and just took the wheels to my tire man (I don't like the air wrench so I take mine off and torque them on myself). We got the rear mounted tires and rims out of my X5 and he got one wheel on the spinner and started spinning. On the inside setting (the one that tells where the weights to be placed on the inside of the rim only) said it was dead on - the tech changed the setting for both the inside and the outside weights and it still read off. I was a little puzzled so we removed that wheel and put the other on. He gave it a spin and I was a full ounce off of the inside setting, he changed the setting to read both inside and outside and I was 2.50 ounces off. I had him add 1 ounce to the inside and just got back from test driving after I torqued my lugs nuts back on. My wobble is not starting until 70+ mph now and would like to get it out. I'm sure if I have them pull all the weights off and change the weight location to the inside and outside mounting of the weights (instead of just the inside placement on the wheels) that it should correct it. Has anybody else gone through this challange of weight placement on your wheels, and does it make that much of a difference for perfect balance?

Well stated......and a hot VZ. I believe (IMO) that this would be the ultimate Z. If I were looking for a hot engine on a beautiful car I'd grab it. To bring an older car to that status would take more than $35K. All and any of us (unless we have done the work ourselves) have some big money in our restorations - refreshes. A good paint job along with minor body work is in the $10-13K.......a new interior........engine bay detail.......engine work........ujoints, it all adds up fast. To grab this VZ that is maxed would be a lazy man's dream........turn the key on and drive. It's just not what most of us do. Most of us like to work on our cars, use a little (or a lot) of GO-JO and after the end of a project stand back and be proud of what we accomplished and the state of progress our Z is in. I know I still have several projects left and they will still take a lot of money and time. Bottom line - if I had the funds and more garage space, I would buy it.

I think I'm getting the bug.........that engine bay and engine look GREAT!! I would have to agree that you and your son will have some great memories about the Datsun. Mine turned 22 - getting his Masters in Bio-Chemistry........enjoy all the days you can get while you can still get them!! Your efforts speak for themselves.........stunning!!
