Speedometer trapped in dash cap--HELP!!
I installed a BDA full face dash cap over the weekend..then was setting the gauges back in place till I got the new backlit gauge faces from SpeedHut. Unfortunately, the speedometer popped back in behind the dash cap and now I can't get it back out the front. Anyone else had this problem? The dash cap looks so much better than the dash that was there, i really don't want to tear it up if I can avoid it, not to mention the 100$ I'd be out. I was thinking of trimming the dash foam behind the gauge cup and pulling it out the back of the dash, but I'd rather not cut up the dash, even if it can't be seen normally. Anyone have any ideas?

Trying to get info on engine pistons
Well, thinking about this, you have L26 pistons in your L24. L26 pistons DID come in a dished form, so says the L26 i helped a buddy of mine rebuild. He's the original owner, and has never had that engine opened up before. Makes sense when you increase stroke, that you have to make adjustments to keep the CR down.

First De-Rusted Dogleg!
Yes, they were the tabco body panels. I need to order the drivers' real lower quarter and the passenger rocker panel as well, just haven't had the spare change to get them yet. Been working on the floors...

First De-Rusted Dogleg!
I just completed the first of two rusted out doglegs today, cutting out the old, de-rusting, metal prep+POR-15, and fitting and welding in the new panel. Looks pretty ok to me, i'll post pictures later for better judgement by the experts. In the mean time, i'll be out working on the floors...

What would you pay for a dohc 4 valve head
Heh, JimmyZ, I'm a home caster/machinist too. I've actually poured cylinder heads before, but a scale model of the L24 isn't quite the same...By the way, a 1/8 scale model of the stock L24 produces ~4.6HP, pretty good, I think. Next time i get to see that engine again, i'll take some pictures for you guys! (it's in a modeling museum about 20Hrs away from me...) As to doing it lost foam, you'd get much better results that way. The best method to make the patterns is CNC, but you'd have to make the patterns layer-cake style. (not that that's a real problem.) the only worry that i would have would be getting the internal passages packed with sand fully, an internal blockage would be killer.

Disassembly tips
well, i don't have much of an interior, anything besides the dash is either already gone or removed, and the front fenders are off. Thanks guys, I've got a lot of work to do before the next stage of this project-Paint!

Disassembly tips
I am getting ready to strip out my 72 240Z so I can restore the unibody before painting. Other than the rather unusual and silly body damage on the rear end, there is very little rust on the car, so I figure I might as well do it right. My question: where do I start removing parts, and in what order?

SunRoof Removal and Repair
Try me. I had to ship my Z from Maryland to Nashville. If I can't find one local, I may enter negotiations with you, if that is acceptable. Thanks for letting me know that they are out there, though!

SunRoof Removal and Repair
I have a 72 Z in hard shape that needs a new roof panel. Has anyone here ever done a roof transplant, and if so, can anyone tell me where i can get a good roof panel? I've looked at the local places and all the Z's i've found have serious roof damage, makeing them unsuitable. Thanks for you help!

Hi, I'm new here
heh, it's a lot thinner than the metal I work with...and no, i don't make those belts...I'm an ARMORer. Yeah, if i can get a new roof panel in it, I'm going to. if i have to make it, well then by god those things are coming out! terrible, what people do to cars at times. I'm not one for vinyl tops either, so that's going to come off. I'd like to paint the car original 907 green, with a black interior. Maybe 918 orange, i haven't decided. Got some rust to take care of first. I did not know about the rear panel being off of a later car. does anyone have one off of a '72 240Z they'd like to swap for?

Hi, I'm new here
Right now, all i have are the pictures from the Ebay listing, i'm still working out the shipping details. I'll post a few of those, and take some more when i get the car here. As you can tell, it's got some damage on the driver's taillight area.

Hi, I'm new here
And I don't even have my Z yet. it's been partially paid for, and shipping is being arranged. My father owned a couple of these, and I will be working the best I can to get my Z to be like his used to. The interior is in rough shape, and the body has some rust to fix. I paid less for the car than I did for my laptop, so i don't feel so bad. I'm pretty damn handy with tools, and can fabricate just about anything out of metal. I'm a medieval armorer, so sheet metal work is nothing new. As soon as I can get the car here and get it tagged and cleaned up, I need to get an air cleaner box, and will almost certainly be rebuilding the engine while I paint it. The guy who sold it has been driving it without an air filter or air box for some time, so i'm sure it's gotten grit and dirt in the cylinders, and that's Just Not Good.
