found a 71 240Z
thanks for your input guys... i checked inside the wheel wells already and they are rust free...as for the floor he pulled up the passenger side carpet and showed me where the new floor was welded...as for the carbs he has the original 71 carbs on the l26 he said.... how do you differentiate between 70-71 and 72-73 240z's?

found a 71 240Z
I went to look at a 71 240Z today. It had a l26 engine with the original hitachi carbs on it. had a custom exhaust system...was lowered and had after market wheels on it(some kind of 5 stars). it had the floor and inner front fenders replaced about a year ago. the vin # was HL530 30115. how do i check to see if it's really an l26 or really a 71 240Z? i plan on purchasing this car. there was only one small rust spot on the left rear quarter panel. it's just starting to bubble. there is no open rust showing anywhere. i plan on bringing it to the shop i work at for my boss to check out. is there anything in particular i should look at before i purchase it? talked him down to $5000 CDN from $6500 CDN. oh yeah and i can smell exhaust fumes when i roll down the window...leak at the headers?... thanks for any help.

240z weight
I've heard that the 70-71 240z's are around 2200lbs and that the 72-73's are around 2400lbs. if this is correct, then what exactly made up the extra 200lbs in the newer 240z's?

stock 280zx turbo engine
if i was to put a stock(rebuilt) l28et into a 240z how fast in the 1/4 mi. and 0-60 do you guys think it would be?

turbo 240Z?
please correct me if i'm wrong as i do not know a whole lot about 240z's yet but the 280zx came with a turbocharged l28 rite? and if it did, can that be swapped into a 240Z without any major problems? also, some posts i've read that a common thing to do is to put a l28 n/a into a 240z and keep it carburated(is it not already) in doing the latter swap, how much of a hp gain would there be and how much work(money) would be needed to get the n/a l28 to push the 240Z into high 13's or low 14's in the 1/4 mi.? i'm still quite new to these cars so any and all help/opinions would be great....i hope to learn a lot more about these cars as i am going to purchase one as soon as i can find a decent one...thanks for any input.. laters

Ford 302"??
i was looking at purchasing a 240z with a 302 in it already and the owner said that the 302 was actually 50lbs lighter than the stock engine in the '73 240Z...
-
240z, 260z or 280z?
hmmm...lightweight, no luxuries....yup, think the 240z would be best for me...

custom indiglo gauges for your z car!!
i went onto the speedhut page and it looks like quite a few cars got developement going with less than 30 orders...they said the grand ams only need about 10 more orders to get production going and they only have like 5 orders going rite now...so i guess you guys wanting them for your 240z won't need that many people. i think indiglo gauges would look quite nice on a 240z that was gonna be modded...it's always cool to see new tech. on older cars...

240z 89 ford 302
i think the wiring is all hooked up already he said but need to put the computer somewhere. he had a cross member welded in to support the v8, and the transmission...it actually looked like a very good job that was done...it pretty much looked like it was stock....as for the v8, it is in running condition he said but just needs the accessories hooked up....is $2600CDN too much for a 240Z? body wise, it's in really good condition...very little rust...thanks for the opinions...

240z 89 ford 302
hi, i'm new to this board, i'm thinking of purchasing a '73 240z that had a 5.0 mustang engine put in already. it's not in running condition. it needs all the accessories put back on the engine, the fuel lines have to be hooked up and the driveshaft from the mustang has to be spliced along with the driveshaft from the Z car. it also needs a rear window and a custom exhaust system. he's selling it for $2600CDN. is this worth getting into? he says he doesn't have enough money to finish it off but yet he says it'll only cost a couple hundred bucks to get the engine running....what else should i look for?
