  1. Never seen one of them fancy things in FL! So it just sits on the casting cover?

Reaction research was the old company. Now it redirects to the new site above. There is a litsting for the reinforcement kit in the link below and I recall seeing it in the instructions I had. http://www.reactionresearch.com/pricelist.html#velorossa

I thought it was part of the kit but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. It HAS to be done or the car would fold in half.
  4. You want just the engine? That is a horrible deal.
  5. One bit of advice, don't rush it. Obviously, this is not your daily driver.
  6. Did you take your 240 motor out and dissemble yet? You know why it was seized? I have to ask, but it wasn't in gear when you were checking it out right?
  7. Oh wait, yeah I would pass on it too. I didn't realize the head core plug was missing too. I was looking at the block one next to the oil filter. That looks like the rubber expanding plug. In your first post, you mentioned you have another 280z motor, plus the 240z motor that was seized? Or was the 280z motor the one your thinking on buying?
  8. That is a very good point. Especially being so far up north in the cold climate like he is. In FL, I would just assume it was leaking more than a freeze condition.
  9. The block and head may be perfectly fine. If you can't find another, the question I would ask, is if he is confident everything is okay ask for a written warranty. The core plug looks like it was probably leaking and they threw one of the expanding gasket type HELP plugs in there. To me $400 isn't that much IF you have some kind of proof. Way cheaper than a rebuild and these motors are pretty stout. The other thing you would want to do is remove the valve cover. See if the cam lobs look clean and not rusted. DO NOT BUY without doing this, if your even considering. Also make sure you wiggle each rocker and check that they are in place and the rocker arm guides haven't popped out.
  10. Where in FL, just curious.
  11. Yes the rails are different, but the hole pattern on all S30 seats I believe are the same. Just unbolt the seat rails from the 70 seats and install them on the 77 seats.

You can still get the kit. I forget the company name before ztrix https://www.ztrix.com/convertible-kits/z-spyder/

What a great attitude for being 87! I'm 47 and dread getting on my back messing with the brakes. I go so far as to remove the seat. Kudos to you!

If dad helping go for it!:) At least you will have great experience dropping the tank!!
  15. Perfect, I'll take the fairlady then! we can make a road trip out of it! Dan, just out of curiosity, what is a serious offer to you? As I'm a cheap skate, I have a tendency to be insulting. I'd rather you simply tell me what you looking for.

The one I had loads of reinforcement and a small roll gage with lots of gussets. I had a VeloRosa. What i did like about it, is they didn't try and pass it off as a fake Ferrari, but more of a Kit car. It was one of things I had to buy. I still can't believe I only paid $3600 for it. Sold it and bought a very nice 4x4 with the profits.

Thank you. I had a feeling it was backwards. It came that way and I assumed it was installed properly.
  18. I can only open my hatch 24". This seems to short to me. Is this arm on the correct direction?

Hmmmm..... maybe now I'll leave her!! We've done the coke and aquarium. Atlanta has very nice zoo that I wouldn't mind seeing again and great zip lining. I better go to Stone Mountain too before that is gone. Sorry to thread jack. I'll stop.
  20. Ok don't know how I missed this before, but on the drivers side rear, the wire loom that feeds the power antenna and side marker light has a yellow wire and yellow black wire sitting there stripped. Were these for the OEM speakers. Was there really only one speaker for the entire car? The wiring diagram I looked at didn't show the wiring diagram for the radio. Is there such a diagram somewhere? Checked this but I don't see the speaker itself on the diagram or the wires.

Let it run for a bit. ? Now if you could rig somehow to go for a drive. I wouldn't suggest it. ?

Yes on the gas jug. Ideally Dave is right but if you have a good amount of fuel in it should be ok like you do. Stuff a rag lightly around the neck of jug. BEFORE YOU START MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER HANDY! Just in case. I'd even go as far as have a fan pointing Towards the can to ensure any raw fumes escaping are blown out the garage. Looks like you have it in there.

Yep exactly. I have set just as described. Never used them but just in case I found the odd wheel with a weird offset.

As many hours I waste looking at the schematics that you could probably explain to me in less than 30 minutes worth it. ? Maybe I'll bring the wife and make a weekend out of it.
