I bet your right. Then you could part the other two and end up with a free car!
  2. 70-72 they did not have pumps. 73 and 74 had the pumps. Not sure if the 70's had the wires, but 71 and 72 do as part of the harness. Maybe the JDM had FP in those years like the fog lights and it was easier to just include them and not use instead of having separate harnesses for each market. My 71 was wired just like the original post. Black and green wire to the tank and just hanging unplugged behind the heater console.
  3. Heading up north for a trip. Happened to see these on CL. My wife would kill me if I stopped. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/d/datsun-280z/6241828155.html
  4. Isn't there a Z registry somewhere? I've been on it before but don't have the link. At least you have a vin. I've been looking for my dads 73 240z with zero luck. No vin of course and the state of FL only goes back 10 years.

LOL. That reminds of a ZX I drove that was built to the hilt. There must have been at least $10,000 in add ons alone with all the things the engine had. He said dyno numbers were in the 450HP level if I recall. Step on the gas and it was horrid.... wait for it, wait for it... 3700 RPM and holy cow, hold on for dear life! The funniest part was the welded diff. Talk about awkward to drive.

Definitely think about adding a heat shield to the brake master cylinder. That turbine housing is very close. I would also get some kind of portable or installed wideband to measure your A/F ratio. The money you would save rebuilding and time redoing far out weighs the cost of the wideband. 7. Yes. Did you see Steve post above with a an offer to help wit the wiring? He is really very good wirh the diagrams and how things work. Take him up on his offer!
  8. Do you have source for another head? Just in case my idea is off the wall and you may ruin it. I would do this only as a last resort. My thought is since the cam is made of steal, center a long piece of steel rod (crow bar, train bar) at least 3' long, under the cam. Use a piece of rubber hose to protect the cam and a piece of wood under each side each of the bar where it sticks out to protect the aluminum and remove any slack. You want it wedged so the bar can't move. Get a buddy on one side and you on the other and slowly rock it back and forth. Again, last resort. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  9. Yes it is missing. Yes that is the adjustment for the Fuel mixture. Post a WTB thread in in the parts wanted. If that doesn't pan out you may get lucky and Ztherapy has one. I was missing a single choke cable collar and they had it. What air filter and velocity stacks are those?

    Found.
  11. Yeah likely crud. Your car should already be wired for the fuel pump. Should be pretty easy.
  12. I thought this was priceless, "It’s like a British car, but with a much higher probability of everything working."
  13. You can hear the fuel pump struggling. The other thing you want to move it to just off the tank. I'm not aware of fuel pump that is designed to suck. Especially that distance.

Make sure you check the 3/16" return line. Mine was clogged beyond all reason! Those hubcaps sure turned out pretty!

Man, Tony D. Is awesome. Regardless how he comes across he is incredibly intelligent. I've never met him, but I have the utmost respect for his knowledge. The biggest thing everyone needs to remember and I include myself, is it is just the internet. Slow days at work I've spent days reading through threads. The amount of talented people on hybrid is incredible. As an example look at this custom head Derek built for the L6. I think he is even working with Robello now. This is just amazing: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/119641-twin-cam-head-for-the-l6-from-derek-at-datsunworks/

I saw it on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Datsun-240Z/162559782951?_trksid=p2046732.c100040.m2060&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107095009%26meid%3D4184ff3782544ed7ae1eccd561b136d0%26pid%3D100040%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D162559782951

Thanks Mike. Loads of great info.
  20. That is why it is leaking. You need a 5/16 filter.

You should be able to easily get 250HP out of a stock L28et head and block. Skip the 6 speed. I was like yeah an adapter is being made so I can adapt a 350z 6 speed to an L28. Then I looked at the final ratio on and it was .794. The 81-83 5th gear .745. For my power goals I just can't justify it, one more gear to shift, more weight, more cost, more time, etc. Granted, if you shooting up towards 450hp it does have more strength. Just my .02!

Odd, same set different link. https://www.ebay.com/itm/252839113759 these are repop from Japan. Just search eBay for "240z JDM tail lights" if this doesn't show up.

Sorry for legal purposes what's wrong with these? https://www.ebay.com/itm/192252036615
