  1. Yeah! So how was the maiden voyage?
  2. Did you swap your speedo cog gear to ensure your speedo is accurate? Or is it the same color as the one in your 5 speed your swapping? No time is easier than when it's out now.
  3. Dang you went to town today! How about you drive like "Sh-boom"

That is weird. You think maybe they are scooping on your car and just reminiscing?
  5. If you need some help next weekend getting it back in let me know. Also do you have an impact wrench? Helps getting the flywheel bolts off. So much easier than busting knuckles! Also before you pull the trans make sure your drive shaft slides into the ZX 5 speed ok. I'm pretty sure all the yokes are the same, excluding the Borg Warner but just in case. You don't want to go through all that to find you don't have a drive shaft.

Very nice. On my list eventually. I'm lucky I have two LSD already. Which mounts are those? Arizona Z car? Is that in a 510? That looks like a Z. You posted in the 510 section by mistake?
  7. Watch this one. It's pretty clean: https://www.ebay.com/itm/391878027440
  8. Yes the other post not this one.

Sorry, since my car has no predrilled holes for the later model rubber and flange I need to use, I wanted to get a measurement of one of the holes (lower left) placement on somones existing trans tunnel. If I have one of hole measurements, the other three should fall right in place when I go to install. At this point with no holes at all in my trans tunnel, I'm at a best guess to line it up.

Anyone have their center console out? I need a measurement of the hole (bottom left) so I can replace the rubber boot and center it correctly. I'm hoping this will match up. Unfortunately someone cut up the hole forcing me to use the later rubber instead of the correct one. Or should I just slide the rubber down with it in neutral and use that as the guide?
  11. Got a 1/2 day off today and wifey is at work! Installed Dave's HLH upgrade, made a relay bracket with room for one more and cleaned up my wires a little bit. Next up drivers side inner and outer tie rods. Next week I get my referbished Enkei 92's back! Excited about those too. I loved the 80's mesh wheels!
  12. I got my BPST plugs from McMaster car.
  13. What kit did you buy? I have one of the flexlite versions you insert into the radiator hose. It works, I just don't like the way it looks. The stock sensor doesn't open / close like this sensor would though. It's like a resistor that the gauge reads right?

Good info 7tooZ. I have issues with mine too and need to get it sorted. Just for clarity as I don't ever remember having a stock functioning radio in any of my Z cars, the antenna goes up and down independent of the radio right? Only the switch makes it go up and down and the radio itself doesn't have to be on or even installed? I know my antenna is good and I've tested it up and down jumping it. I need to check if I have positive juice on the center wire at the switch first.
  15. If it were not wrecked what would it be worth? If spending the $2700 on it yourself to get it fixed would put it at $8K or more I would get it fixed and then sell it. I honestly don't think the ZX have reached the level of commanding lots of money yet. Looking here, it shows good at $6600. https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1980-datsun-280zx-deluxe Yours in it's current state is Fair at $3700. Granted, there was no option for 10th anniversary. If someone offered $4K for it I would take it and call it a day. Just my opinion. I have a very rusty 10th anniversary. My reality is I will never get to it, nor is it worth fixing, honestly. Only has 90K on her and she runs amazing. I'm attached to her though, at least for the moment. The other listing here for the 10th anniversary and he is asking $1200! That put's yours worth $15K! Not to be harsh, but honestly that car is probably worth scrap value at best. Maybe 20 years from now he could get that.
  16. Curious what is the sensor from?

Awesome info Steve. Thank you. That is a huge difference.
  21. The other thing to check are those blue connectors. Take the ignition module out and make sure no wires came lose.

Other option is from Dave. I think he was the supplier to MSA. I could be wrong. https://www.datsun-240z-upgrades.net/product-info/ i just ordered it myself. I rebuilt my headlight switch, but I just don't care for the heat I'm getting in my fuse box. I think I'm going to do the parking light upgrade next.

https://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/d/1972-datsun-240z/6283018950.html Not mine. I went and looked at. Too much rust for me. PM if you have questions. It's really a parts car in my mind.
  24. The threads were bad? Two of the four heads were designed to be shear type screws as an anti theft deterrent.
  25. I've got an injector pulser I made and an extra fuel pump if you need to borrow them.
