  1. Thanks guys. I feel the same way about my set! Joe I just sent you a PM with details. Derek
  2. Hi Joe No I haven't. The main problem is I have no access to a 280. plus I'm slammed right now with my regular pattern work. Derek
  3. Hi I'd really like to update my ebay pictures with some better installed shots. Has anyone who bought my panels have any pics they could share. Thanks Derek
  4. There is a square piece of sheet metal that is against the rear body panel. Make sure it's sealed really well as this indirectly leads into the cabin. This would be the optimal time to do the smoke test. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?31739-Exhaust-fumes-in-cabin-solved!!!&highlight=smoke+test
  5. It will be more than just welding and polishing. The weld area will shrink and you will have a slight indentation. Or a gaping hole depending on your welding skills! If you absolutely can't wait for replacements I would investigate 2 part panel adhesive from SEM or 3M. Derek
  6. If your not familiar with stand alone tuning then I recommend you find a tuner that you like first then buy what ever system he's comfortable with. Megasquirt can do just about anything and that's the problem. That takes a fair amount of tuning knowledge. The self tuning in tuner studio works really well but it's the little tweaks like acceleration enrichment that are tricky. Of course my only experience is tuning my contraption so a stocker may be easier. ITBs are not know for ease of tuning! Derek
  7. He tried to buy a set of speaker panels from me. I figured it was a scam but you never know. When I told him a money order would be problematic I never heard back from him. Derek
  8. Hi Everyone. I ran into a fit problem with my regular kick panel pods in cars with dealer add on air. I designed a new set of low profile pods that places the speaker magnet in the pocket for the door hinge bolts. Although the acoustics aren't as good they will get the job done. So if you have dealer AC or your looking for something less obtrusive then these are the ticket. They're $100.00 plus shipping. These are $10.00 cheaper than the regular panels because they don't need the hood cable relocater bracket. They fit 70-73 left hand drive cars only and use a 5 1/4" speaker. Thanks Derek
  9. Hi Alex Welcome aboard. Where in central Florida are you? Derek
  10. I think you'd be hard pressed to crush .080" 7075 with 54 lb head bolt torque alone. Plus the expansion coefficient is equal with the aluminum whereas the stainless isn't. And that's my 2 cents Derek
  11. Hi I know this is a bit late but I sell cam tower shims in .080" and .063" They're cnc machined from 7075. But on the up side you saved yourself $100.00! Make sure you debur everything really well and when your torquing down the towers keep spinning the cam to make sure it's not binding. Derek
  12. Hi everyone I was waiting for a reply from Mike about me selling these on the site. Unfortunately I haven't got a response yet. I just don't want to step on any toes. But since the cat is out of the bag I'll offer the same deal of $110.00 if you buy direct. The higher price on ebay just covers ebays charges. Right now I only have the 2 sets left on ebay. I have the material to do 10 more sets but I came down with some sort of funk and I'm sick as a dog right now. Most likely I won't have stock until after Thanksgiving. Thanks Derek
  13. Great party Bill. Thanks again for putting this on every year it is such a great time and a great cross section of cars. Derek
  14. Hi Well it's that time of year again when Bill Coffey throws his famous "Garage Party". If you haven't been to one of these you are missing a great time. Lot's of great Z cars as well as many other types of vintage racers and hot rods. The date if Saturday November 6th 2010 and starts at 11:00 AM. Here is link to a crappy scan of the flyer including a custom "Coffee" stain. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa159/240Zderek/garageparty001.jpg Here is a link to last years post by Zwolf with a better PDF flyer http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36246&highlight=dream+garage+party Just to let everyone know I'll be setting up one of my driving SIMS. We'll be running Rfactor with the HistoriX Mod. Sebring will be the track. Here is a video of me taking a lap in a Capri. If your interested in having some fun with this I suggest you watch the video a few times and get familiar with the track. Don't study it for driving tips though as I suck! See you there! Derek
  15. My take on this is if you smell exhaust in the cabin you have a leak. Spoilers, tailpipes, bumper/no bumper all play a part in how bad but the bottom line is you have a leak. Find it and fix it. I'm pretty sure I still have one small leak but I need to pull the gas tank to fix it. When I first did the smoke test I had previously gone over everything with a fine toothed comb. I was so sure I had everything covered. I wish I had a video of how much smoke and how fast it filled the cabin. It really doesn't take much of a crack to be a problem. And a little thread levity never hurt anyone! Derek
  16. I was thinking about this this morning as I was driving in to the shop. It's starting to cool off here enough to have the windows down and the A/C off. Now I still don't have any fumes when I'm moving but when I come to a stop I can smell a little bit of exhaust. If I'm driving 40 mph and there is a cloud of exhaust gas trapped in the low pressure area behind the car and I come to a stop does the gas come to a stop as well. Or does it keep moving forward. Also when I drive the speed of light and I turn my headlights on should I be able to see anything? Thanks Derek
  17. Thanks guys. When I have the dead pedal issues worked out then I'll be able to come up with pricing. I'll keep you posted. Derek
  18. Thanks Dave Right now there is about 1/2" between the clutch pedal arm and the speaker grill. I can pick up more space by making the speaker flatter. As much as 1.5" if i go all the way flat. The biggest bugaboo for me right now is the interference with the dead pedal. It's my daily driver and I tend to have size 10 steel toes on when I drive so that's not making it any easier! The next pod move will make a big improvement. Derek
  19. Well I'm finally getting around to making my kick panel pods. I'm going the vacuum form rout with 1/8" ABS plastic Here's the 3D Cutting the pod Cutting the kick panel Ready for the first pull Here is the first pull First pull was too cold. Also the pod location was too close to the dead pedal. I moved the pod up for the second pull and it was better but it's still too close. Second pull I'm reworking the carpet covering section at the bottom and moving the pod up and back as far as I can go. Hopefully pull #3 will be a charm! Derek
  20. Looks great Julio. My Vintage Air unit is doing great in our 97 degree weather in Florida! Derek
  21. I've got most of the modeling work done. It should be a pretty good looking car when it's skinned and in game. It's really a pain modeling when you need to keep the size of the model small but the detail high. Here's a shot of the interior. Now for the physics! Derek
  22. I'm starting to make some decisions on my motor set up and I'm leaning towards the lower comp higher advance theory as well. I have a P79 that I'm starting to work. Did paul shave the head to reduce the combustion chamber size? Thanks Derek
  23. Well don't get too flattered because I thought it was a Nardi which is the wheel I run on my car. I saw it (I thought it was it) on yours and thought what a coincidence! Derek
