Any cad-cam guru's here?
I do a lot of reverse engineering and for simple parts measuring and drawing 2D is the most accurate and usually the quickest. I then use the 2D drawing to create the model. Ultimately if you are printing you will want to output your final product as a watertight mesh.

Replaced my cargo straps with ratchet straps
I hope your right:) In september it was a year since I made my big unveiling of the head. I couldn't believe a year went by and I still didn't have a close to finished product. And so it goes.

Replaced my cargo straps with ratchet straps
Wow that's impressive. You must have a very big shoe horn:) How far away from running are you? There are quite few people interested in the head. I think the list will grow after I have a running prototype. I have a blog now if you want to keep up with my progress. http://www.datsunworks.com/Blog/

Replaced my cargo straps with ratchet straps
I'm glad someone mentioned it. I posted that closeup for a reason:) My mill is down with a blown board so I had to do it all by hand. I did one set satin and one with a DA finish. I liked the DA better so they are in the front. The belt sand in hidden in the back.

Replaced my cargo straps with ratchet straps
I've been wanting to do this for years. I finally got around to it. Finished product They were a little bigger that I would have liked but they were black. I got them at Harbor Freight. Made brackets out of aluminum and painted them black. I guess I could have dusted them off:) I cut the hooks out of the webbing. I cut the hooks themselves as I have an iron worker that will do that kind of thing. I left the loops in the webbing. I then used a soldering iron to burn holes through the strap. If you really wanted to get crazy you could slip a pin through the loop to keep it from pulling out but I really don't think you need it. Perfect for hauling around your twin cam L6 prototype head:)

Installing the GEN II Mini A/C into my 240
I think you would be hard pressed to make everything connect using the heater hose holes. You may have to bight the bullet and blow a hole through the firewall. Derek

Low profile kick panel speaker pods now available
Hi John I don't have any specific Ideas. Hopefully Travel'n Man will chime in though. The speaker magnet is larger around than the frame that it attaches to. Can you angle the speaker and cheat it into the hole. when it's in the hole since the frame is a little smaller than the magnet maybe you can straighten it out. Just a thought. Derek

Low profile kick panel speaker pods now available
I used Infinity Reference 5 1/4's in mine but my model is NLA. Here is the spec sheet. You can use it for dimensions. The depth is important but the magnet diameter is also critical as it hangs in the pocket for the door hinge bolts.

I personally have not tried it. But from what I have heard that's the only thing keeping them from fitting. Maybe Rags will chime in. He bought a set to try in his 280. Derek

I just got the flier from Bill and he asked me to post it for him. Derek Garage party 2011.pdf

What to repair/replace while gas thank is removed?
There is a square piece of sheet metal that is against the rear body panel. Make sure it's sealed really well as this indirectly leads into the cabin. This would be the optimal time to do the smoke test. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?31739-Exhaust-fumes-in-cabin-solved!!!&highlight=smoke+test

New stainless bumpers arrived
It will be more than just welding and polishing. The weld area will shrink and you will have a slight indentation. Or a gaping hole depending on your welding skills! If you absolutely can't wait for replacements I would investigate 2 part panel adhesive from SEM or 3M. Derek

what after market EFI will work for a 75z??
If your not familiar with stand alone tuning then I recommend you find a tuner that you like first then buy what ever system he's comfortable with. Megasquirt can do just about anything and that's the problem. That takes a fair amount of tuning knowledge. The self tuning in tuner studio works really well but it's the little tweaks like acceleration enrichment that are tricky. Of course my only experience is tuning my contraption so a stocker may be easier. ITBs are not know for ease of tuning! Derek

SCAMMER ALERT Please read my fellow Z friends
He tried to buy a set of speaker panels from me. I figured it was a scam but you never know. When I told him a money order would be problematic I never heard back from him. Derek

Low profile kick panel speaker pods now available
Hi Everyone. I ran into a fit problem with my regular kick panel pods in cars with dealer add on air. I designed a new set of low profile pods that places the speaker magnet in the pocket for the door hinge bolts. Although the acoustics aren't as good they will get the job done. So if you have dealer AC or your looking for something less obtrusive then these are the ticket. They're $100.00 plus shipping. These are $10.00 cheaper than the regular panels because they don't need the hood cable relocater bracket. They fit 70-73 left hand drive cars only and use a 5 1/4" speaker. Thanks Derek
