3rd NYZCC Gathering October 10th - FDR State Park
New location for the 3rd and final club gathering for 2009! Perfect way to end the seaZon! With the club growing at a great rate, we wanted to move the event a little north to give the others a chance to make the event and meet the rest of the NYZCC family. It will be a nice drive for anyone leaving the nyc area and hopefully the weather will be perfect! This time we would like to give everyone three weeks to plan and get the word out. Plan to be there for the day if you can. There were plenty of Z stories and car showing taking place last time. We will start grilling @ 11:30am. We plan on roping off an area for all the Z cars so come before noon if you would like to park as a group. FDR State Park 2957 Crompond Road Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 October 10th, 2009 10:00am – 5:00pm (More than welcome to hang out later than 5pm) There is a $6 charge to get into the park. FDR State Park is a multi use facility. Children's playgrounds, basketball courts, trails for biking and hiking...so this is a family approved Z gathering. Just to be a little more specific as to what NYZCC will provide: Charcoal, lighter fluid, plates, napkins and condiments. What someone should bring: Their own meat/ veggies/ drinks / beans etc... Please use this link below to get directions from your departing address: Here is a link to the main web page for FDR State Park http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/14...ing-there.aspx You are asked to bring yourself (family is ok), Z (if your Z can't make it come anyway) and food/drinks to be shared by everyone. There are grills in the park, so we shall be making our own food.......hot dogs, hamburgers and anything else we can grill. This should be a great time and I am hoping be can get can about 30 - 40 cars to show up. Come and hang out and meet new Z people and have a great time chatting about cars or playing basketball, tennis, throwing a football around or watching your kids play. If you have any questions, feel free to email or pm me. If there are any changes before the event, this thread will be updated. Zya soon. The rain date for this event will be October 11th same time. Exact directions in the park will follow soon just save the date!

HLS30-OOO13 Has Been Found!
Just to clear up something it has been posted before. If 100 cars are shipped, who is to say that me the first person in line....likes a silver Z which is car lets say 22 over the color of car 13.....does that mean 22 is more special now because it was FIRST SOLD to public? Not at all!!!! All early cars are special due to the fact they are just OLD and have stories behind them and are a little different from a 70 model car. If ever 69 Z was still around and was tracked from day one.....there wouldn't be such a buzz for "early cars". Car 13 is just special because most believe it to be the LOWEST car sold to public. I own a stock 44k mile 2/70 car....I don't ever look at it and say man...those 69 cars that were made 60 - 200 days before mine are so much better. It is nice to be in a club...."low vin club is one" but to have pages of back and forth crap of value and why it should be restored is all bs. Car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it......car is very cool because of the story with it......until facts are shown otherwise...most likely lowest vin SOLD to public...and now we as a group of Z lovers know where the car is.......find the rest!

HLS30-OOO13 Has Been Found!
THERE IS NO WAY TO SAY ANY Z CAR WAS FIRST SOLD TO THE PUBLIC! You can only say 13th was the lowest vin sold to the public, two different things. I can't believe I am reading pages and pages of the same topic, over and over and over.

HLS30-OOO13 Has Been Found!
You low vin guys have the BEST postings on the net! Chris, next convention we are going to be doing a lot of drinking and bs'n. For me I think the story behind the car is cooler to hear than seeing another low vin Z. Like you said it is only worth what someone is going to pay. How different is 13 from 16, 17, 26, 27 or 95...nothing just a number! The shapes of all the cars mentioned above are different and that is where the true value is. Honestly, I met a guy in a gas station who has car # 2?? 69 car and he sent me pics to prove it. It is a parts car and is not on the Zhome list...guess I should tell him what a GREAT car he has and it is worth.....$ =)

1st NYZCC Gathering August 8th
I would like to thank everyone who came out and made this a great first gathering! Thanks to Jimmy for picking out a great spot! We learned a few things for the next one we have there and the next one will be even better. Also would like to thank Jimmy's wife for BBQ'n for us while we spoke cars. Also would like to thank everyone who bought club decals and playing cards, the funds go back into your club. So we had 17 -*19 Zs show up for the day. * (2 350Zs showed up and didn't come inside the parking lot) There were plenty of food and snacks to go around. It was good to see everyone sharing there Z stories with one another. I also met a lot of new people and saw a bunch of Zs I have not seen yet. Please forgive me if I forget your name next time I see you....takes me a while to remember names The weather was great and really couldn't ask for anything better. Plenty of space for the cars and right across the lot was plenty of space for the kids to play. Next time we will plan to make this an all day event. We even had someone show up from the Craigslist Ad that was put up last week. Slowly we as a club are growing......I believe Craig came the farthest all the way from Central NJ! Thanks! Will we have another one there? Yes we will very soon and the date will be posted soon. For those who were there and would like to suggest something for the next gathering please let us know. Also some pics that Alex P took: http://picasaweb.google.com/tiale11/8809FirstNYZCCMeet#

New look for my 71 240z
Back from paint jail: Man does it look better than I thought it would. One slight oops taking the car off the trailer, front wheels rub the corner of the fender...made a slight bend in the pasn side fender...easy fix. The fender needs to be trimmed some more. That will take place once I get the front air dam on and more test fitting. Bad dog frame rails were welded on and lots of welding of new sheet metal. So "new" rust free fenders were used in the fronts and tabco was used in the rear to fix that mess I had. Enough of me talking....some pics! Just getting back to NY: Front View: Rear View: Rear Pasnside: Rear Driverside @ the house: As far as the rear, the ride height will be lowered....so I will post some pics once I get the flares mounted.

New look for my 71 240z
Quick story of the car: I bought the car in Brockton, Mass. from the friend of the second owner. The second owner bought the car in late 75 and then went to town on the car!! I have sheets on top of sheets from Bob Sharp racing products; bought and installed at Bob Sharps shop in CT. I believe the flares and front spook to be orginal BRE products. I have two booklets where the owner checked off all the parts he bought for the car. Konis, Mullholland springs, front/rear swap bars, poly bushings, BRE spook and flares and the list goes on. He had the car painted in '76 and then had it for sale in 1980 just due to lack of time. Sale price then was $7600!!! He didn't get it so it sat in the garage until 2001 when he passed away. The person I bought the car from was really good friends with him and took the car to some day get it back on the road. So it sat for another 7 years until it was finally listed for sale.....28 years sitting in a garage! The thick dust in the engine bay and smell of 28 year old gas really tells you a story. Seats are a little worn, dash is not cracked (pulled from another car), bumpers are striaght, floors are SOLID, FG front fenders.... Pics for the day I got the car: Front Right Side Off to paint jail: But test fit of new wheels first:

New Z is Home!
For those who have asked me how is the car doing I figured I would post an update. The car is sitting inside the garage and has not been touched! I have been so busy with the v8 car that this car is just sitting and waiting. The thought has come across to sell it to someone who wants to save an early vin car, if I keep it the turbo 3 liter I have is going in it. I have another month or so before I let everyone know if it is going up for sale or getting a new motor!

Help ID this 5 speed
Ron, I was thinking the same think you mentioned---false feel of 5th. At the same time, I had two other Z guys over and they "felt" a fifth also. This is why I posted because my head was starting to hurt reading here and other sites. I am going back outside again and going to make sure I am getting a fifth gear.

Help ID this 5 speed
Here is a link that I am sure many of you know of: http://www2.zhome.com:81/ZCMnL/tech/69-83TrannyShifterDrawing.jpg So I know it is a "monkey motion" tranny. There was a 5 speed 720 truck('79-'85)transmission that will bolt into an L-6 car, that also has "lower" gearing. However, there were two other sets of different gear ratios available, depending on the truck model: #1 #2 #3 1 3.592 3.321 3.592 2 2.246 2.077 2.057 3 1.415 1.308 1.361 4 1.000 1.000 1.000 5 0.813 0.833 0.813 Does anyone have pics of this tranny or know first hand what they look like?

Help ID this 5 speed
I did not drive the car at all but I have shifted it into every gear and turn the shaft to double check it being a 5 speed (done out of car). "Normal shift pattern" with reverse down to the right. So now I know exactly what a dog leg tranny means....and this is not one. So that rules out a few trannys. I just went outside again to double check where each gear is and I am still getting 5 gears, 1 reverse. I may have to check the ratios if I get the time. Thanks so far for the help.

Help ID this 5 speed
I have this 5 speed that came out of the 71 24o I bought a few months back. I have searched here and Hybridz and I think I know what tranny it is but I would like to make sure. I believe it to be a euro 5 speed..please see pics: Complete tranny: Some casting: Shifter: I can take other pics if needed. The car was serviced at Bob Sharps dealership through the 70's...so I will ask him next month when I see him about "swaps" they might have been doing back in the day. I just know these 5 speeds don't come up to often and I wanted to make sure I have my Z knowledge down here So it safe to say these trannys came in the 240's none US and also are referred as a dog leg tranny? Thanks for any input guys.
