It seems that's what you've been doing for the last decade and really aren't any closer to a solution than you were when you first recognized the problems. Unless you have a strong emotional tie to your Z, I suggest moving on to another car that you can enjoy driving with confidence that it will run well and get you where you want to go and back home. Just a suggestion that could make your life less complicated and more enjoyable. I once had a '74 Porsche that I never drove farther from home than I cared to walk back. I knew several AAA tow truck drivers by their first names. I was happy and relieved to finally sell it and eventually bought another that I've owned for 32 years.

I haven't checked in on your continuing problems for a while, so please catch me up on what you've done about suspected lack of water flow through the radiator. Does the car overheat? Did you run it without a thermostat to see if flow happened? Did you run it with the thermostat long enough for it to open and allow flow? After reading about all the issues you've experienced for years, I have to wonder what keeps you connected to this Z.

I've found that fiberglass repair is relatively easy and forgiving compared to repairing metal body work. You could do the scoops on your dining room table. Give it a try.

Fiberglass repairs on the early scoops are very easy as is replacement of broken mounting studs. I've done several. I currently have one I'm prepping for JDM style headlight covers that has a few cracks that I'll cover with fiberglass cloth before moving ahead.

The left panel takes up about a quarter of my window view. While it offers easy access to forum feature links, I'm not sure how often I'd use it. Soooo, most of the time, it's just in the way. Maybe dropdown menus would be worth considering.

I could be totally wrong, but it seems that there is less interaction and message posting since the format change. I'm still trying to master the new look and features, but not very well.

Regarding "D" center hub caps, an interesting Car & Driver on-line article about the old and new Z cars today. The article compares a 1973 Z with the 2024 version. See link below. Thank you for validating my level of understanding. I'll mention it to my wife 😀. Although my Z came from the showroom floor with D hubcaps, I eventually traded them for a set of the Z caps because I thought they looked significantly better than the D caps. Looking back, probably not the smartest move. Especially when i see what the D caps are selling for now.

My 04/71 build date 240 came with D hubcaps. I always thought all '71 Datsun 240Zs came with the D caps and the Z caps were on later model years. Unless I am misunderstanding the question....which seems to be happening more the older I get.

Strap Tension - Rebuilding Seats
I rebuilt the seats on my 4/71 Z last year. Start by watching a YouTube video or two to get tips on "how to" and the tools you'll need. To stretch the webbing, start by attaching the end of the webbing to one of the seat mounting metal clips with rivets. Clip that end back in place on the seat frame. Install a metal webbing clip to the opposite side of the frame and thread the webbing through it. Pull the webbing tight around the second clip and mark where to cut it allowing for overlap room to put in the rivets. Use that as your pattern for the length of the rest of the straps. Get the straps as tight as you can as they will only loosen with use over time. My straps had pretty much disintegrated after 50 years.
