  1. The city's mandated "Shelter in Place" directive was feeling a little restrictive this afternoon, so I went for a drive to see what was happening around town. I live in a tourist town that doubles in population this time of year. All bars were closed, a few restaurants had signs offering take-out food, street parking downtown was virtually empty because all the stores are closed, the casino was closed, and a few Urban Bedouins were hunkered down with their shopping carts on downtown sidewalks. Marijuana shops, grocery stores and gas stations appeared to be the only essential stores allowed to remain open . Welcome to the New Normal. Shelter in Place lasts until April 3rd. Dennis

  3. How can you tell if a government spokesperson is lying to you? You see his/her lips moving. Dennis
  4. No sense in wasting hard to get test kits unless there are known symptoms. Triage.
  5. Note to self: A quote you'll never see on an STD poster. Dennis
  6. Coronavirus update from the SoCal Desert......... Locally, 13 identified cases, Three Coronavirus deaths as a result. Schools closed until April 30th. Palm Springs begins "Shelter in Place" tomorrow morning until April 3rd. Only essential services open. If anyone needs me, I'll be behind locked doors for the next couple weeks. Send toilet paper. Dennis
  7. At a reasonable $100 an hour......only $4,000 per washer. Any price break if I buy a pack of six? ?
  8. Time to start cutting newspaper pages into strips the width of a toilet paper roll. Sorry, just trying to lighten this discussion up a bit. Dennis
  9. California just ordered all bars and winery operations to close. Locally, there are 14 identified cases in the county with 12 of them in my community. Four of the local 12 are in the hospital and the other eight are quarantined at home. The recommendation is for everyone over 65 to shelter in place. My son was to start his new job with Google tomorrow. Last week he was told to come in tomorrow (Monday), sign in, pick up a company computer, and go home for two weeks prepared to work remotely. This morning, he got an email telling him to phone in tomorrow and they would get him signed in and on the payroll - no need to come in for a computer. He will basically be on paid vacation for at least two weeks, maybe more, until they decide to return employees to the office. Dennis
  10. That front bumper looks like a good place to sit when parked at scenic overlooks. Dennis
  11. Interesting company and marketing plan. The company was started in the town where I grew up - Superior, WI. Not quite on the edge of civilization, but you can see the edge from there. My dad built their warehouse in the mid-1970s. I was briefly a dealer in their pyramid marketing plan and used Amsoil in the Porsche 914 I was driving at the time, 40 years ago. My biggest recollection was that when I switched from petroleum based oil to Amsoil in the 914 gas mileage improved greatly (32 mpg to 36 mpg, if I remember correctly) and I had to lower the idle speed significantly. Slippery stuff. Dennis
  12. I could probably buy a fairly nice, not perfect, Z for the sales commission the buyer paid BaT on the $310,000 final bid. Dennis
  13. This same thing was noted by a friend who sold his Porsche 912 on BaT within the last year. After a couple months, it started showing up on several other "Cars for Sale" sites for much less than what he sold it for to a buyer from England. Many of the pictures in the ads were those that he had posted on BaT. He checked with the buyer who told him that he still had the car and it was NOT for sale. Scams abound. This Z may not be a scam, but due diligence is wise before buying. Dennis
  14. Welcome! Always good to see another '71 getting TLC from a new owner. Enjoy the Z. Dennis
  15. Also, the buying demographic for those cars has aged into their 70s and is unloading and downsizing. Transient collectables tend to lose value when the buyers/enthusiasts age out and younger collectors aren't interested. Dennis
  16. I wonder what Megan and Harry will bring? Dennis
  17. All international conflicts should blow over so easily. We vaporize your General, you shoot off a few rockets that are beyond their "Best If Used By" date and both side declare themselves winners. Dennis
  18. Not sure what HER annual salary is, but I don't think it was six figures based on conversations over the years and what she drives. She referred to the cut in pay as "a house payment". Dennis
  19. The Infiniti branch of Nissan is feeling the hit, too. The last time we took ours in for servicing, the deanship was like a ghost town. The service manager who has worked with us for 10 years at the dealership mentioned having to take a $1,500 per month cut in pay recently to keep the job. Dennis
  20. But, now, he's got Dog The Bounty Hunter to deal with. Should make a good episode - especially if his compound is guarded by Hezbollah militia. Dennis
  21. My 4/71 Z which I've owned since new has the ash tray and lighter in the center console like the one pictured above. No lighter in the dash. You likely have a replacement dash from a later Z. Dennis
  22. Actually, Earth is an oblate spheroid. ? Dennis
  23. Careful "BRO" you're stepping on my reality. Dennis
