Polar Vortex
Has anyone checked their antifreeze cold weather protection level lately? When I lived in Northern Wisconsin, it was an annual fall ritual. Seeing -70ยบ wind chill temperatures in the midwest this morning reminded me of the "good old days" of getting up in the middle of the night to start the car and let it run for a while to assure it would start in the morning. Stay warm! Dennis

Rare Step Lights
Since they exist, they must have been made in quantity to justify production. Where did they all go if they're not on our cars? Were they used on ther Nissan. Models? Is there a warehouse full of them somewhereits? Dennis

Three 240Zs Sell at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale for Big Money
Seller pays $99 to list a car and the buyer is charged 5% of the winning bid with a $5,000 maximum payment. Dennis

Three 240Zs Sell at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale for Big Money
Probably a little more alcohol flowing at a Barrett Jackson auction than with a BaT auction. That can loosen up the bidding/judgement restraint. A friend of mine sold his Porsche 912 on BaT a few weeks ago and did surprising well. The final bid far exceeded his expectations and the car is now on its way to Europe. Dennis

Snowmageddon
If it's the storm that blew through California in the last couple days, get the snow shovels out. It dropped over four feet of snow in the northern ski areas and a couple feet in the local southern mountain resorts. Good luck! Dennis

Worth looking at? #2
What is this Photoshop you speak of? Is it like the little building in the mall parking lot where I drop off my 35mm Ektachrome to be developed...Fotomat? Or is it a place to buy cameras, film, lenses? Dennis

Worth looking at? #2
Is that a newer Prius, not 20 years old, in one of the pictures? Enlarge the photo of the rear license plate and read the year on the sticker in the top right corner. I think the green ones were fairly recent. Dennis

How Many 240Zโs (1970 to 1973) are left?
I believe the Honest John site noted above reporting 234 240Zs registered refers to 240Zs in the UK, not the US. Dennis

Need info on this z car
What search terms are you using? If the car has been in a locked trailer for 20 years, it's unlikely that Grandma had a website or a blog at the end of the last century unless, in addition to being truck driver, she was also a techie. Dennis

No family members who remember anything about "Grandma's" car? Who holds the title? Who has the keys? Dennis

Happy 2019! A lot of 50 year milestones coming up!
Who would have known? In addition to being a capable sports car, it's an off-road vehicle, too! Dennis

'71 on Seattle Craigslist
interesting troubleshooting that the seller mentions....... pulling the engine and rebuilding the head as a fix for the engine not starting. Dennis

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
Sorry, no help with the part # for the flex fan I bought in 1979. There is one listed on eBay at: https://www.ebay.com/i/173624848712?chn=ps I bought the flex fan because it was an inexpensive replacement for the stock unit that had just gone through my radiator. It worked, not sure it was any better or worse at cooling than the stock fan and clutch set up. Replaced the flex fan with a stock fan and clutch about 2007. I think I probably pitched the flex fan and spacer but can check in the garage. Dennis

Installing an Electric Fan...
My '71 is working nicely with the original alternator, although others have mentioned upgrading when they added fans. Keep in mind that the article you posted above mentions that the Sirocco fan was NOT a perfect fix and the problem was not perfectly resolved until Nissan stopped using carbs and moved to fuel injection. So, like so many automotive upgrades, pay your money and take your chances. Based on what you've posted over the years, I have a sense that your Z will be a long term ongoing trial and error project. So, give it a try. Dennis

Installing an Electric Fan...
Can't hurt. Moving more air through the engine compartment is good on a hot day. Many of us have thermostat controlled electric fans on our Zs with AC. Haven't we had this discussion previously? Dennis

And, you can probably use it as a mobile "hotspot" for your computer or iPad. You now have more computing power in your hand than the first astronauts had in their space capsules. Dennis

rear view mirror
Alabama looks good tonight. Oklahoma, not so much. Snow is melting a bit but temperature is in the low 20s overnight. I was going to suggest a glass shop, but sounds like you've checked into that already. I did that with the Avanti outside mirror in the past. Dennis
-
rear view mirror
Cliff, do you just need the glass mirror part?
