  1. Here's a link to one being wrapped over on Hybridz: https://tinyurl.com/y884g3q2 Dennis
  2. Automobile Magazine's on-line report ran an interesting article on Nissan's stash of cool cars. Here's the link: https://tinyurl.com/ybf6qx54 Dennis
  3. Very nice. Gotta love 3D printers. Much nicer, and far more functional, than the whistle I made with mine. Dennis
  4. Help us help you. What's your budget for buying a Z? Do you have the skills, or friends, to do mechanical, electrical, or body work that may be needed? Do you plan to learn to drive a "stick shift" car or do you prefer an automatic? Have you ever owned a 40 year old car? Not trying to discourage your dream, just trying to figure out if you're a serious buyer or a tire kicker at this point. Don't want you to get in over your head like it appears the owner in the craigslist ad above did. Dennis
  5. Looking at the Chicago Craigslist, there seems to be a pretty wide selection of Zs in your local area if you have never seen one and don't want to drive 400 miles. Have you looked locally? Dennis
  6. On the '71 mentioned in first post, the mechanical pump is engine mounted and the fuel filter is attached on the passenger side in the engine compartment. Dennis
  7. ç≈ There is NO "quick 101", it's a live and learn world with Zs. Fuel+spark+air=combustion and if the starter is cranking with those factors in place, it should be good to go in most cases. Also, check under the distributor cap to make sure the rotor is there and that everything else looks as it should. Thanks for your service from this retired veteran Dennis
  8. How long were you away with the military - a month, three months, four years? How clean & tight are the connections on both ends of your battery cables? Are you getting fuel flow at the carbs? Power to the spark plugs? Dennis
  9. Murphy's Law https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy's_law
  10. If you look closely at the picture showing the center console and radio area, you'll see that there is NO radio in his "perfect interior", just the dial face plate, no buttons or knobs. Also, the center console looks a little wonky. Dennis
  11. That's a popular way to gain rear tire clearance with Porsche 914s. It bends the fender lip snug against the inside of the fender quite nicely and adds about 3/4 of an inch of extra space. Dennis
  12. I think the closing statement by the owner as he does his test drive with the windows rolled down at the end of the show sums it up nicely. "I love the smell. I'm sure it's not good for me.". Dennis
  13. A few years ago, someone on this forum or on Hybridz was printing out replacement rings on a 3D printer. Never heard how they fit or held up. Dennis
  14. Interesting to see the list of dealer "add-ons" that jacked the price nicely. Goes to show how hot sales were for the Z in those days. Pay over sticker price, pay for dealer add-on items, or go on a waiting list to get a bare bones model. I was one of the "pay over sticker price" buyers in 1971. Dennis
  15. Of course. Drivers want to dress up their entries in the East African Safari Rally. And what better way than to add a matched set of off road use only, scratched, non-OEM, as-is, no rust, 1970 Datsun Z hubcaps? I wonder if the seller has a release from liability form for buyers to sign in case of injury. Dennis
  16. Interestingly, the ad states that they are for "off road use only" and that he's not responsible for any injuries as a result of use. I would hope potential buyers are smart enough to realize they're dealing with a wonky seller and avoid. Dennis
  17. I'm guessing that if Nissan went after nicoclub, they'll also be sending cease & desist notices to all the other download sites one by one. Download them while you can! Dennis
  18. Can I hear an Amen, Brothers & Sisters? Dennis
  19. Well, not exactly. A Google search turned up bunches of paper copies as well as downloads. Here's one to get before Nissan slams them shut. https://diyservicemanuals.com/nissan-pathfinder-service-repair-manuals/ Dennis
  20. The bottom line is that nicoclub posted Nissan's intellectual property (factory manuals) and offered free access. That violates copyright laws. Nissan isn't the bad guy in this. I've managed a Porsche club for years and know that I have to get permission from Porsche for things I post - factory photos, illustrations from manuals, even the word Porsche on a web site URL. Generally manufacturers and publications will give permission to print excerpts. They do take exception when it comes to copying and giving away an entire publication that cost thousands of dollars to create and still has the ability to generate revenue to the copyright owner. Having once received a " STOP" letter from a photographer as the result of reprinting a vintage advertisement in a club newsletter and another time receiving a "Here's what Hell we can rain down on you" letter from Porsche's US legal firm, I can say that I totally understand where Nissan is coming from and how right they are. Dennis
  21. What was the gap on the currently installed plugs? Dennis
  22. Don't give up on chanting Ed Zachary. Works for me on this thread. As for help from my wife, I'm sure she'd be willing to sell you some answers to the IQ and personality test questions. You're on your own with block design, however. In the meanwhile, if you don't think "Ed Zachary" is helping, try repeating "2016 Erection". Dennis
  23. Be strong. Just close your eyes and say, "Ed Zachary" ten times to yourself and you'll feel better. Dennis
  24. According to the FSM, fuel pressure can be in the range of 3.41 to 4.27 psi. More, or less, will cause less than optimal operation. Your pressure seems to be within range. Fuel capacity is another issue. Use a big glass bottle, or a gas can, as the catch basin when you disconnect the fuel line. Delivery should be 1600 cc (3 3/8 quarts) per minute (static test). Dennis
