  1. '72-'76 sounds about right for the 2nd style Z hubcaps. They should be easier to find and less expensive than the "up through" "71 style. Back when my '71 Z was almost new and I was young & foolish, I didn't like the look of the hubcaps and traded them to someone for the hubcaps on their '73 that they didn't like. I still have the full set of '73 hubcaps, but now that I'm old & foolish I wish I had the set that came on my '71. Lots of single '72-'76 hubcaps, as well as full sets of four, on ebay currently. Prices range from $9.95 for a single to $500 for a set of four. Dennis
  2. What do I do with them? I use them to attract dust. Lots of dust. So far, so good. Dennis
  3. Have you verified the bore & stroke as well as the upgrade parts listed on the rebuild spec sheet you included in your 1st post or are you tuning based on what you think the engine internals are? Just curious as I know of a few engines that have been passed off as "rebuilt" with just new paint on the block. Dennis
  4. I wonder where they redline?
  5. How many miles have you driven it with possible low oil pressure? I agree with previous comments - verify pressure with an independent gauge, not the dash gauge. Basically, when LOW oil pressure becomes NO oil pressure, the engine will lock and need to be rebuilt. Dennis
  6. The first "Item #10" (Block painted in genuine Nissan blue) on the rebuild list you showed is probably the only thing that you can be sure was done. The fact that there's a second "Item #10" on the sheet should be a clue to the quality and thoroughness of the seller. Who, if I remember correctly, had/has a sketchy reputation. Dennis
  7. Appears to have a "full face" dash cap/cover (image 5578). Lots of shiny cosmetic work and based on the pictures, the owner is very proud of the driver's side. Seems to be selling it based on what appears to be a straight body covered with an OK shiny and well waxed paint job. How is it mechanically? Rattles, miles, gear shifts? Have you held a magnet to body panels to check for Bondo? Dennis
  8. It also makes a good personalized license plate. Dennis
  9. When I had a new key cut, I took the key code number from the glovebox door tag to a locksmith. Quick, easy, inexpensive. Dennis
  10. Sehr gut, mein herr! Ja!
  11. Maybe some do, but the Porsche assembly line workers get to drink beer on their break periods. I found it interesting to see them sitting at tables pounding down a German Bier before heading back to the line when I've toured the factory. Not sure the UAW has pushed for that benefit. Dennis
  12. A place for everything and everything in its place. My garage makes yours look tidy and well organized. Dennis

Yikes!!! Looks like you set the buffer speed to 52,000 RPM. I've never used a buffer on trim pieces and am now afraid to do so in the future. Dennis
  14. You're right about a dog not lasting long. The law now allows one to smash a car window to release a dog left in a hot car. You have to be careful about what you leave in the car. I think I've previously mentioned having left an aerosol can of flat tire fixer in the car and having it explode - the "shoe-goo" flat fixer was all over everything in the tool kit where the can was stored. Fortunately, it's only going to be in the 80s the rest of this week. A good way to end the year compared to those who live in Duluth, Minneapolis, or Erie. Dennis
  15. Yup, that's about how a dash cap looks after sitting in the sun in my neighborhood during the summer. With 120º outside temperature and significantly hotter inside the car, anything plastic left on the dash tends to melt - CDs, sunglasses, cassettes, Gumby. Dennis
  16. Merry Christmas from sunny Southern California! Dennis
  17. Lots of questions. It could be a fiberglass shell sprayed with texture material or it could be a flimsy foam form covered with a hard plastic exterior or it could be constructed just like the original factory item and be wonderful. The "Summer in the Sun" test will be crucial. It does look good as pictured and I hope the quality matches. Dennis
  18. First time I've seen a radio "delete" panel with storage cubby. Interesting car. Dennis
  19. Any word on the material it's made of, thickness, UV resistance, how it looks after a summer in the sun? Sure looks nice fresh out of the box. Dennis

I had German language classes in middle and high school and finally got to use what little I learned/remembered 30+ years later on trips to Germany where I attended birthday parties for Ferdinand Porsche. Fortunately, he understood English better than I spoke German. Those were the days, as they say. Invited to the party, stop at the factory to pick up a "loaner" Porsche for a week (one time a 928, next time a 944S, another time a Boxster), and party like it was 1939. Good memories. Dennis

So, you think your neighbors would ausfahrt to the dealership just because of a little auspuff problem? Gott in Himmel! Gotta love those German words that bring out the eight year old in all of us. Dennis

All you need is that bike inner tube, an adjustable hose clamp, a pair of scissors, and you'll have instant tuned auspuff. Be sure to yell scheisse like the camera operator did. Too much fun! Dennis
  23. Let me add my "No" vote. Any markings indicating manufacturer of the sun roof? Dennis
