  1. One set starting at $899 + $50 shipping from Thailand and the other set starting at $1,500 and $30 shipping from Georgia, I know which set I'd bid on unless I decided on a set of aftermarket covers from Japan for a much lower price. Dennis
  2. Seller seems to like red paint. Dennis
  3. That's pretty much it. It's the inconvenience one endures to live year round. in a resort community. Tourists work 50 weeks a year for the pleasure of coming here on vacation for two weeks. Actually, we have a vacation home in the nearby mountains and usually blow out of here on weekends throughout the year and totally for the months of July and August. This year was a little different with getting my mother-in-law moved out of her home of 60 years and helping our son move into his new home in Los Angeles. So, only two days, so far, at the lake home this summer/hell. Dennis
  4. No apology needed for complaining about the weather. It all averages out. Think of me next January when you're turning up the thermostat and throwing another log in the fireplace to keep warm. It'll be 75º here and I'll be sitting in the back yard next to the pool wearing a t-shirt and shorts. Dennis
  5. Normally, yes. But for the past month it has been VERY HUMID and that has jacked the heat index. Last Saturday, the actual temp was a seasonal 106º and the heat index (feels like) temp was 120º. Can't wait to see the next electric bill as we have two central AC units running pretty much 24/7. Dennis
  6. Only 101º?!?!? My local heat index is currently 103º, which is a cooling trend from the 120º and above it's been for the last few weeks. Actually feels cool by comparison. Gotta love life in the desert in August. Dennis
  7. If you end up going with a later Nissan mini-spare, please let me know year & model as I'd like to get one instead of a full sized spare. I've read a lot of vague references, in various threads, to what fits. Dennis
  8. If you look at Hagerty's definition of a #4 car, it's a "daily driver with no parts missing". Not exactly what's pictured above. Those two are probably best left to return their natural elements to the earth. They appear to be about half way there. Dennis
  9. My respect to anyone who takes them on as a roadworthy project. It's going to take more than a little rubbing compound and WD40. Dennis
  10. Nice job! Looks like it worked well. I've only chemically stripped one car and found it had been painted four different colors over the years - a messy job. I did mine outside on the driveway. Dennis
  11. Is it a five piece g-nose or one of the type with fewer pieces? You'll want to include the g-nose hood hinges if you sell. No headlight covers may knock the price down for some potential buyers. Dennis
  12. Very nice. You brought out the original wood grain look quite nicely. Dennis
  13. Mine hit, I trimmed a bit off of the console where it hit, and covered the new gap with the shift lever boot so it's not noticeable. Common problem solved....for me at least. Dennis
  14. Nice, relatively accurate, article. I would have preferred pictures of a Z with stock wheels and hubcaps instead of aftermarket alloys. But, that's just me. Dennis
  15. Let's poke holes.......the description says it has a 383 engine from a '71 Corvette under the hood. To the best of my knowledge, no '71 Corvette had a 383 engine - only 350 or 454 blocks. I suppose the right buyer with a pocket full of cash, for instance Kermit the Frog, might like the color and rear spoiler. Good luck to the seller and the buyer. Dennis
  16. Sorry to interrupt your line of questioning, but help me understand what you're trying to do. I'm having a little trouble understanding your idle speed issue. Idle should be 800 RPM without AC. When aftermarket AC is installed on a Z, it's recommended to raise idle RPM to 1000. That's because it will drop to around 800 RPM (optimum RPM) when the AC compressor kicks in. If one were to NOT raise it to 1000 RPM when installing AC, idle would drop to around 600 RPM for a no bueno driving experience. I know you have a non-stock cam and other modifications on your car. What was idle set at when you got the car and before AC was installed....1000, 800, somewhere in between? A Z is supposed to be fun to drive and after reading about the problems you've experienced with your Z for years, I have to ask. Do you have an exit plan for this car? Dennis
  17. The description on those LED lights says they last 25 times longer than incandescents. Since my original factory installed incandescent bulbs have worked nicely for 46 years I'd be good for another 1,000+ years if I switched over. Might be worth the effort. Dennis
  18. Check Amazon for a similar product at about half the price: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZVHMSZC?psc=1 I've also heard of using lawn chair rewebbing kits which are even less expensive if cost is an issue. Dennis
  19. Spoken like a true 16 year old! Keep up the good work, but be prepared for comments and advice when you post your updates. Posting to this forum is kind of like writing a letter to "Dear Abby". You may get sound advice you don't want to hear. Just keep in mind that you're going to get comments backed by a few thousand years of Datsun Z ownership experience. Take the advice you like and blow off the rest, you're 16, we've all been there. Dennis
  20. However, in many ways engineers are like pilots. There are old pilots and there are careless pilots. But, there are no old careless pilots. Like most 16 year olds he's probably not going to take sound and reasonable advice from old experienced adults. Maybe there should be a new forum on this site where teens with Zs can bounce wild ideas and schemes off of each other. Dennis

    Wax

I like the clay bar because it clears the tiny debris you can't see off of the paint. The paint surface feels soooo slippery and slick after going over it with clay. Not sure it makes the paint any shinier after waxing, but certainly makes it feel smoother to the touch. Dennis
  22. So the $550 "No Sale" one on eBay is now offered here for $700? My little mind is beginning to spin. I can't wait until it's listed on Amazon for $2000. Dennis
