A search didn't turn up any mention of a Z prototype that I recently saw, so I thought I'd post a picture. The Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo, near the Los Angeles International airport has a full sized styling prototype of the 350Z on display. I was surprised at how it appeared to resemble the original Z a bit more than the final production model 350Z. Smoother lines, recessed headlights, rounded shape. It was made in 1999. I got a lengthy ride in a 1926 Pontiac that had only 15,000 original miles. The Z is behind glass. Excuse the cell phone camera picture quality. Dennis

Pleating seams in vinyl upholstery that aren't stitched are dialectrically sealed - melted to give the look of stitched pleats as found in leather upholstery. I believe my '71 came from the factory with dialectrically sealed pleats. Too many reupholstery jobs over the years to remember what the originals looked like. Dennis

Agree. They've worked, and held up, nicely for me and my Z since 1971. I understand differing opinions. Everyone likes what works for them. Dennis

That could explain the troublesome "fumes in the passenger compartment" issue associated with many Zs. Dennis

Interesting idea. The Z is about a foot longer than the Cobra, but there's less than an inch difference in wheel bases. Front tracks are within a half inch, but the Cobra has a 4 inch greater rear track. Dennis

Wow! Very nice looking fix. This could open up career opportunities if your day job doesn't work out. Dennis

My current A/C kit from MSA has that type of controller and uses a rotary compressor. It replaces the original unit I installed on my '71 in back in 1972. That unit used a York compressor and had a different control switch box that attached to the side of the center console. The original unit was an ARA brand after market install. Dennis

I have the MSA A/C on my '71. It was installed a couple years ago to replace the older unit I had installed in '72. My mechanic did the installation, so I can't provide "hands on" installation advice. He did, however, say it was straight forward and installed with no surprises. It's a much more compact look under the hood - especially after removing the previous York compressor. It cools well in desert heat. Dennis

Sending units are often the problem with low or inaccurate readings. However, you mentioned that you swapped out the sending unit. Did you install a new one or a previously used one? Did the gauge react the same with the original sender? Dennis

They will certainly make the Z more aerodynamic, but I doubt that you'll recoup your $70 investment from increased mileage any time soon. If you like the covers, buy them. Adjusting the carbs and gapping the spark plugs will probably be as effective for increasing MPG - and those only require time, not money. 2¢ Dennis

Easier if you lived in Nashville, more expensive and complicated if you plan to jet in to see the car and arrange transportation to port and shipping to Germany followed by trucking to Austria - or hiring an agent to accomplish all the transportation tasks and paperwork. Generally, the less you pay upfront, the more you pay later. Find a good driver within your budget or plan on saving a bit more so you can buy a better car that will require less repairs. Have you checked on shipping fees to Greece? Dennis
