  1. Even industrial strength Lume couldn't make this one smell good. 😎

In my neighborhood, they seem to be out all of the time.

Part of the reason that people had kids in the 1950s and '60s was so that there was someone to get up off the couch, walk across the room to the TV set, and change the channel, adjust the sound level, or stop the horizontal roll. The world has changed. 😎
  4. Allow me to add one more point to the summation.... Guaranteed to generate endless debate and confusion 50 years after being introduced?: Yes

This time of year it's good to live in the desert. It will be 81º here on Christmas Day. Stay warm!

Nice work on your site. The visuals are great. Enjoyed the tech upgrade tips. Just one nit to pick. The '70 Z weighed about 50 pounds more than the '70 911, not less.
  9. Clearly, it was not or you wouldn't have been struggling with this issue for the eight years you've owned the car. It's a hard pill to swallow, but having the engine and carbs rebuilt or selling the Z and starting over with another one may be the best solution. You've fought a long hard battle with your current Z.
  10. I've been following your struggle for all of those eight years. If I remember correctly, the person who sold you the car has a less than stellar reputation. You might be stuck with the problem until you have the engine and carbs rebuilt by a reputable shop.

The paint I used for mine, as seen in the picture a couple messages earlier, was a satin black rattle can for outside furniture. I bought it at ACE Hardware and it's held up well for over six years.

@MikeOn behalf of the Vets on the list, I appreciate the thanks and positive recognition. It hasn't always been that way. Dennis Major, USAF Retired

Very little activity the last two days. Might be an issue with the site, or it might be an issue with the participants.

Take your pick of anywhere from WalMart to to your local auto parts store. Google is your friend in doing an on-line search for a wide selection of car covers. The brand I sold was Covercraft. They've been around for decades and make a good product. Have fun shopping and picking the one that works best for you!

Water proof covers trap moisture underneath - not good. A poly-cotton cover, either custom fit or generic, will allow moisture to escape and is quite durable. I used to sell covers and still use a couple that are over 30 years old.

They just pull off on my '71 Z. No sure if they do on earlier years.

Or lonely shut-in living in his mother's basement and reaching out for social contact from a caring classic Japanese car enthusiasts group. We'll probably never know.

Before I painted mine earlier this year, I read all the threads on this forum by others who had painted their tail light finishers to determine opinions on a close color match. After sanding and a coat of Rust-Oleum Flat Gray primer, I used Dupli-Color Perfect Match Dark Shadow Gray BFMO360 which is listed as a Ford color and topped it with Rust-Oleum Ultra Cover Matte Clear. I'm very pleased with the results.
  21. Average annual income in Indonesia is $837 so labor costs are way low and they make their equipment last. The shop reminds me of one near where I lived in the Philippines a very long time ago. They hand hammered Excalibur replicas on the chassis of your choice for very little money.

Nice job of fixing your spoiler, Jim. Mine broke when I hit a snow drift and split from side to side. I was an Air Force aircraft maintenance officer at the time and took it to the shop where we fixed the fiberglass nose radomes on C-130s. The guys got it back to looking like new and painted it with flat black aircraft radome paint that it still wears almost 50 years later.

I still have the BRE "Spook" front spoiler that I put on my '71 Z in 1972. It's no longer installed, but served well in holding down the front end at speed for many decades. It also worked fairly well as a an unintentional snowplow when I lived in Kansas.
  24. Those rocker panel trim pieces were a dealer, or owner, installed upgrade on more than a few Zs in the 1970s. They were silver/chrome accent pieces prior to being painted your car's body color and gave the Z a bit of a lower/longer look. You might find a few rust spots under them when you take them off.
  25. Lawn art....better than those plastic pink flamingos. 😎
