  1. As mentioned by Galaxybj, the fit was loose enough to let air blow in and let moisture escape. Never had a problem with condensation. In addition to looking good, they kept the snow out of the headlight nacelles in the winter when I lived in the Midwest. Dennis

The BRE front spoiler I bought in 1972 for my Z came in black gel coat. I was in the Air Force at the time and after breaking it by hitting deep snow (it doesn't make a very good plow) I had it repaired on Base and painted with the flat black paint used on C130 radar domes. And so it remains today. Dennis
  3. Whatever you do, keep in mind that buying a vintage Z is like going to a movie at the Dollar Theater. It doesn't cost much to get in, but the popcorn and soda will cost a fortune. Lots of good advice in the previous posts. Dennis
  4. I had a set of their headlight covers installed on my '71 in '72 and they held up for decades. Just needed to do a little grinding to fit into the headlight scoops. Dennis
  5. I enjoyed the watch articles, too. Wasn't aware of Hodinkee. Dennis

My '71 is an April build and came from the factory with a metal fan that eventually went through the radiator after about eight years of service. It was a good reason to upgrade to a larger radiator and a plastic fan. Dennis
  7. I guess I don't understand why that's a problem. You have a password on this site as well as having entered your email address to join. Dennis

And don't forget the "luber" if you have a spare one in the garage. Remember, it's on you if it's stolen, but he'll buy it regardless.....as long as you're within 20 miles. Dennis
  12. Do you have some comparison numbers at this point on turbo vs stock, or is it mostly "seat of the pants" evaluation. I imagine a turbo makes it scream. Dennis
  13. If this is the "most stupid forum", please tell me which forum is smartest and has provided the answers to your questions. I'd like to join that forum. I await your answer and will be rudely upset if I don't get it within three days. Dennis

It certainly was a different time. I think I still have some of those bell bottoms in my closet, next to the Nehru jacket, just waiting for the style to come back. Dennis
  15. Good for flats caused by screws and nails, not so good for sidewall cuts and blowouts. My Infiniti came without a spare - just an electric pump and a bottle of "Shoe-Goo" type flat fixer. Downside on that car is that the flat fixer clogs the tire pressure sensors and requires them to be replaced. Another downside is if the flat can't be fixed, finding a replacement tire of the proper size can be a problem on the road. I bought a spare for that car....peace of mind. Dennis
  16. I think that's a healthy way to look at the Vintage Zs. They are a subtype unto themselves and really shouldn't be compared to restored Zs or low miles "barn find" Zs. Just like a "real" Scarab V8 Z conversion carries a premium price over a homemade V8 conversion, so should the Vintage Z program cars. They aren't stock, they weren't refurbished on an assembly line in Japan. They were a marketing move built to represent, and remind the US market of, the spirit of the original Z, warts and all. The fact that they differ slightly from the originals that rolled off the assembly line a couple decades earlier makes them slightly unique and maybe justifies the premium price to those who value the intangible nature of the product. When offered for sale, the Vintage Zs were a second chance for buyers to own a "new" early Z. Buying an early Z off the showroom floor was a heady experience. I know. Dennis

  18. Good as new! Maybe even better. Dennis
  19. I'm guessing that you've posted the same question on BMW, Toyota, and Mazda forums, too. What kind of feedback are you getting from other sources? Since you realize that any answers will be biased, it comes down to "pay your money and take a chance". Just like marriage, it doesn't have to be a lifelong commitment and you can always move on to something else if your first choice doesn't meet your needs. Also like marriage, learn as much as you can about your choice before committing. Good luck on the decision & search! Dennis
  20. Never pay the asking price and don't worry too much about the cracked dash. Mine has been cracked for about 35 years and the car is still as fun to drive as when it was new Dennis
  21. It's been years since I've checked Classifieds. Ebay tends to be my "Go to" used parts source. As for the Hybridz.org method of posting to Classifieds, one MUST be a Donating member of the forum in order to post items for sale. If you don't donate financially, you can look, but not sell. When they changed to that mode, there was quite a bit of complaining a few years ago. Dennis

If you get the reproduction chrome trim pieces that cover that area and attach through the holes in the lenses, no worries about the black lines. Your originals are removed. Ebay and MSA are your friends for that task. Dennis
